Response to Faith’s Blog: Standardized Testing
I agree with Faith’s point of view about standardized testing and the student’s academic performances. Standardized Testing, such as SAT, ACT, and other testing forms, can lead to showing your knowledge and studies to prove that all students can take education in serious matter.
There is a point to where “teachers and students believe that standardized testing is not significant as it should be.” I would honestly be one of those students who thinks that standardized testing is not important. When I was in high school, I took SAT class for more practice, and the SAT test. However, I could not improve on the work, even though in high school, I have done so well on my education including having a high Grade Point Average, GPA. I always wonder why standardized testing, clubs, athletes, and scholarships are the only way to get into the college that students really wanted to go.
I believe that all students should be judged/graded based on who they are, and not just by looking at the standardized testing. They could have more stories, background, or something unique to share that could get themselves to be accepted to the college they want. Most colleges requires high school students to take the standardized testing, answer essay questions, high school transcripts, and activities that they attended throughout their four years. Those information could help understand the students who they really are, and how they are willing to contribute and continue their journey from high school into college.
A true statement, “You worked/studied hard to get into college, and now you have to study well and graduate in order to be hired or receive the job you applied for.”
