I feel like the audience of the first moving picture
A little lap desk I made for myself. Thrown together in just a couple of days. Base made from pine with the riser made out of bloodwood, accent piece on the back from a small scrap of mahogany to cover the screws.
Just came in! The Nova G3 lathe chuck with three different sets of jaws. Got it for a steal from #rocklerwoodworking @rocklerwoodworking-blog
Finally all done, put the last coats of Polly on over the weekend and let it dry until this morning. Set up with abec9 shiver bearings, my old compound rkp trucks, 70mm shark wheels and cloud nine spaceman griptape. Pulls a bit to the right but for a first shot I think it's pretty good!
Excalibur Morgan is finished, just needs a light sanding for painting, kind of regret putting the bevel on it so for Excalibur I'm not going to bevel, if I had made the part at the bottom a separate piece I may have beveled it but it's too hard as a whole piece. The Cruiser deck I bulit I put a small wedge on the tail that I could use to kick easier since I can't bend the wood as you would traditionally, to finish I'm giving it a single coat of tung oil for strength and am going to put a dual layer of oil based polyurethane next week after the oil has cured.
Shape cut out and refined, gotta go out and get a poly-oil mix for the finish and attach a small piece on the back to use as a kicker. Trucks and wheels on now are only temporary, the hardware's too short so I need to get a new set.
Making a cruiser deck for myself, this piece has been sitting in the shop for years, dark and weather worn, thought it was pine originally but not sure what it is now. Should be an interesting first attempt at making a skateboard.
Whole assembly with the replica mounted, all that's left is to hang it up
Simple rack I made for a replica Flint lock pistol I got for Christmas. The pistol itself is actually one of the models they used for Assassin's Creed 3 hence the logo in the corner. I used a propane torch to give it this color and burnt effect, first time I've done it and have to say it's a very nice way to finish a piece like this (also don't have to worry about cleaning of the saw dust before I lacquer it)
On to another project! This time I'm making Excalibur and Excalibur Morgan from Fate Stay Night. I'm notorious for not being that great with hand guards so here's hoping I can get these down nice.
Some pictures of me in my Cu Chulainn cosplay, (the shoulder armor got annoying so I took it off) and my new figures, Scáthach (lancer mom) and Saber Alter
Gae Bolg is finally complete! Day 2 of #kotoricon here I come.
After a little bit of doing and a whole lot of aggravation, Gae Bolg is assembled! Down to the final sanding to fix alignment then the wrap to hide everything. Should have it painted tomorrow and ready for Saturday!
These were finished a couple years ago but I just realized that I never actually posted pictures of the finished product so /ta-da/ Shiro Emiya/ Heroic Spirit Emiya’s twin swords
So far so good, couple of mishaps but nothing I can't fix. Going to do some final sanding, drill for the threaded inserts, finish the bevel on the spear head, and then lace the main shaft, going to do a simple cross over wrap most likely with foam or something. Finish up with a couple coats of red paint and Gae Bolg will be done!
Half way there! Next up is the top half then the speak head. Looking good so far!
Lathe back up and running, back to the slow process of turning and letting the motor cool. Such a small lathe with a big piece like this takes a lot of effort and the motor heats up quick.
