The film features: the folklore ethnographic group "Mіzhrechcha", residents of village Pogost, Zhitkovichi district, Gomel region. The film shows the traditional rites and ceremonies in Turov land (an ethnic region in Eastern Polesie): Caroling on Christmas Day and Munificence Donation on the night of 13 to 14 January, “Hey! Spring!”, the Rite of Calling of Spring held on the last day of Shrovetide, Welcoming of birds on Forty Saints Day, the Rite of Round Dance (“Karagod”) on St. George's Day, the custom of remembrance of forefathers “Dziady and Babas”, the Marriage of Komin on the Day of Finding of the Head of John the Baptist.

Minsk in Belarus was a pleasant surprise. You could find anything from old houses to new stadiums. It was a surprisingly modern city. One thing I found tricky was their currency. Fancy a 23 000 ruble coffee?

Visualtraveling - The Baltics & Belarus

It was time to upgrade while also downgrading in camera size. The Sony α7s has been a charming tool while taken along to the Baltics & Belarus. Since vacations don’t really exist for lens pointers, I stayed true to the saying and spend the last two weeks on the road testing out the camera in various lighting. Shot on a Sony a7s with various lenses and a bit of color retouching.
