Original content writing, week 15 (2)
I'm very proud of the fact that I was able to evolve my writing process!! Prior to this class, I would put very minimal thought into what I wanted to write before I actually started to work- but now I try to think through my writing thoroughly before I begin. That way, I know my paper will flow nicely throughout my topics!
I almost answered very similarly, this class has done more than any other to help me develop my writing process.

What do you like the most about your CL Reflection?
My favorite part of a writing course is the needless desire to overwhelm both student and faculty with padded assignments that only serve to temporarily madden. Yet somehow, defying all odds, this course has managed to disentangle this impractical idea by simply providing numerous, reasonable questions that oneself will confront in a more practical and orderly world.
This is why my favorite part about the reflection is that it's easy! At the very least my current mind believes it to be so!
This made me laugh out loud, such an interesting perspective and validated the thoughts I was having about why this final is literally just a list of questions to answer.

What do you like the most about your CL Reflection?
I think I did a good job highlighting different projects we worked on throughout the semester rather than just referencing one. The projects we worked on were varied in their objectives and purposes so I tried to use that to my advantage when discussing different topics throughout the reflection.

What do you like most about your learning?
Something thing I realized at some point since I started at Millersville is how much I enjoy learning. I've always been obsessed with documentaries and it didn't click in my head until recently that it's because I honestly just love learning about something new. Literally there's a website I use that is a random documentary generator and I'll watch the most random documentaries just so I can learn about something new. Yes it might be something boring or something I have no interest in but I'm still learning! So, I love how much I love learning.

What are you most proud of with your writing process?
The thing i'm most proud of about my writing process is how much I've learned to value revisions. Being a design major I've been through many critiques and they have taught me to value and consider other people's perspectives. I used to be so embarrassed of other people seeing something I wrote but now I understand how important feedback is. You can use negative criticism to improve your work rather than make you feel embarrassed or bad about yourself.

what questions about writing skill development do you have?
I don't hate writing, I've just never been able to find an outlet for me to write that I've been able to stick with. I do want to get better at it and I'm pretty positive the more I write the more my skills will develop. I don't enjoy formal writing, I think I've grown to not enjoy it because of all the essays and papers from school. I like writing about my thoughts and non-fiction topics in a relaxed format. I just don't know where to write about that stuff other than a journal. I've tried journaling but I always lose interest after a week or two. I've thought about a blog but I have no idea where to start with that. Do you have any tips on finding a good outlet? Because I want to get better and do it more often I just haven't found a form of writing that really intrigues me enough to keep at it. @npfannen

write a style rule for creating an Instagram reel - why is this key for the Instagram followers to view the content?
I watched sooooo many instagram reels during my content analysis project so I feel like I really understand what makes one successful. They should be relatively short, they're designed to play on loop so a really long one would defeat the purpose of someone watching it over and over again. Instagram isn't really the platform for really long content anyway, Instagram is most known for photos so keep the reels pretty short and light on info, depending on your intended audience.

Share a section of your Design Project content. What is the work of this sample? How can we help you revise?
I edited this to make it look like an instagram post, it's not real. This is my announcement post that favorite show is going to be cancelled. I'm stuck finding something to revise about this. I could add hashtags but I feel like verified accounts usually have enough fans following them that they don't add hashtags to their posts very often.

Share an example of your favorite television show or movie - how does that show/movie help you work through this project and understand angry fandom?
One of my favorite movies is the new Wicked movie, the equivalent to this being cancelled I guess would be them announcing the sequel is not going to be released. So thinking through what my reaction would be on social media, personally I would never post about something like that the most I would do would be put a post on my story or something. I would usually find those posts on fan pages of the movie or the hashtag #wicked or something similar. Understanding and thinking through what I would do personally helps me write the angry fan posts about favorite show.

Share an example of your experience as a fan of a show that was cancelled.
The moment that stands out in my life that I was most let down by a show getting cancelled was in elementary school when Icarly got cancelled. That show was my life, I had an Icarly backpack, toys, games, clothes, and so many other things. My friends loved the show too and we would talk about it all the time at school. I also remember new episodes would be on one day during the week and that night was always so hype. Then I cried when I found out it was ending and I couldn't breathe during the final episode because I was sobbing so much.

What tips do you have to help stay locked in for the final few weeks of the semester? I'm losing my motivation and Thanksgiving break isn't going to help, I need tips to stay focused and get a groove back for the last few weeks. @npfannen
what does your final revision process look like?
My final process is just going back through my draft and explaining everything. My draft currently is a lot of bullet points, so I want to go back and go more in-depth about my results. I also want to go back and add more photos and graphs. I basically want to go over-explain everything and make it look more cohesive.
It's interesting to do the whole thing as bullet points to begin with, I think that's a good idea actually. My drafts always just start as giant paragraphs of word vomit then I go through and structure it to whatever the assignment calls for, reword things, add details, and explain things.

what does your final revision process look like?
My final revision for the content analysis consists of me mitigating the amount of slides I have discussing graphing as well as adds more slides analyzing the meaning of my findings. As per suggestions, I wanted to make it clear what all my graphs were referring to, so I made sure to include both definitions and graphs on one slide as opposed to showing a raw graph followed by definitions.
I'm also working on adding slides of analysis of my data, that's the most important part of the project so the more of it the better. I also find the more analysis I write the more findings I come upon. I think I just get so immersed in the data and content that I just keep going and going. So then I need to keep going back and revising. I also have all my graphs on their own slides with the analysis that relates to that graph, that way it's not confusing.
Final Revisions
My final revision process works best when it is out of my hands for the most part. When I have the time for it, I really prefer for someone I know to read through the whole thing first with the rubric (if possible). I know it is a bit of a pain for them on the weekend, so I try to find a good time for it. I luckily have a friend who loves critiquing my writing, so it works in my favor. Unfortunately, after they read it, I need to read it again.
Looking at what someone else noted I go through and make changes, but then I follow through with the original requirements for the assignment and highlight each of the points and where I responded to it. It forces me to look at the assignment as not a wall of text, but as a group of phrases connected to different prompts. After that is all checked over, there is nothing left but to submit it before I talk myself out of it.
I also prefer to have some who's not me read over my writing, I didn't mention that in my post about my revision process but I do agree that that's a crucial step of revisions. I can also relate to the turning in it in before you start overthinking things. It's so rare for me to feel like something is perfect when I'm submitting it so I just need to hit submit, otherwise I'm going to end of changing the whole thing.

How will having a good revision process help you moving forward beyond this class?
Developing a good revision process will help me moving forward because it'll encourage me to always check that everything is correct. Especially in the graphic design field, which is where I'm headed, it's maybe not always double checking writing but double checking designs and files. Revising emails to higher-ups and colleagues will be important as well as to not lose my job.

What does your final revision process look like?
Well I started by finishing writing the sections I hadn't written yet. I'm currently working through the rereading process and checking things like grammar or anything that could be worded differently to make more sense. Also, adding details wherever needed to help get my points across. Seeing if I can fit more data analysis just to get the most out of my data that I collected.

What did you learn about content strategy that you want to highlight in your How to Write Guide?
In one of my prior posts I mentioned that a part of content strategy that I discovered while conducting my research is developing an aesthetic, this isn't necessarily only for graphic design creators, but alot of them seem to have a developed and consistent theme or path that each of their post follows, like their own personal algorithm to create posts that attract their audience. So in my HTWG I will mention this.
