Editorial illustration on the fragility of influencer fame and career: "When the lights stop stacking".
An illustration for the prompt “astronomy”.
Henry, Richard, and Francis from "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt. This book emits such impeccable dark academia vibes—I can't!!!
Fanart of my favourite Severance character, Mr. Milkshake! He's so cute yet under-appreciated. 🥺🥺🥺
A funny encyclopedia of Iceland
As an attempt to convey my specialisation as a book illustrator in my portfolio, I made a book about the funny quirks of Iceland—the land of ice and fire!!!
These are the initial thumbnail sketches of the book cover. Each highlights a different scenery iconic to Iceland. After critique from a good friend from art school, the first option was chosen, to highlight the winds and bipolarity of Iceland weather. But with the revision of a bigger character in the foreground, to catch the eye.
Added the 4x4 car in the lower right to make it more realistic. The yellow raincoat is iconic and a telltale tourist fashion statement. There's sun, there's fog, there's snow, there's rain—a very realistic weather condition in this country.
Added to my book cover arsenal! Hopefully more to go. And hopefully get to write a book like this for real and slap my name on it.
Blind date simulator with Sato-san.
Like other artists, I’ve been having some concerns and feelings of helplessness with AI-generated art. After a lot of thinking, the conclusion was that I still believe in people wanting to consume intentionally.
What’s the point of vomiting AI content, and then consuming it carelessly, and then vomiting it out again to the next person who doesn’t care about what he’s eating?
This is an illustration called “AI as Muse” that is part of my master’s thesis in Social Sciences.
Here are some of the sketches, colour thumbnails… Wanted to emphasise the persistent presence of machines in our lives, no matter what we do… You can see in the thumbnails that I also had another idea of just highlighting three mundane activities but the ghost of the robot is there.
Close ups...
I liked the Wong Kar Wai colours of green and red—for the unsettling yet attention-grabbing scene.
It was really fun working with a different spatial perspective also.
