Schools are shut and this period of Lockdown has ushered in a new normal for everyone. I can understand how difficult adapting to the new environment of “Online classes” and “Study from home” can be for young students who used to go to schools.
When I was in school, I was surrounded by friends. We used to poke fun at each other, laugh at each other and laugh with each other. We used to head to the canteens during breaks to grab our favorite snacks and we used to interact with our seniors on a constant basis.
The entire Student community is facing numerous challenges. While Academics are vital, so is mental wellbeing.
These are trying times for everyone. Parents and Teachers alike. Adapting to change is hard, so we’re doing our bit to help this vulnerable yet valuable section of society.
We want to instill a liking for the various subjects that are taught in school, Bridge the gaps in formal education because we were these students not too long ago, We know exactly where the gaps lie. Provide them with a few key pointers, tips and tricks to learn effectively.
We chose English Literature because we are extremely passionate about the subject.
The skill that we need the most in these times is to broaden our horizons and our visions. Students often ask me what is the point of studying Literature. I have but one answer to give. When you analyze the different characters in a piece of prose or if you are able to identify the underlying emotion in a poem, you’re on your way to becoming a more empathetic person. You will be able to put yourself in the shoes of the author or poet and you will be shown a spectrum of feelings. Literature is not about Rote learning. So join us on a journey to explore a small fragment of the world of literature on 2nd August 2020 at 3:30 PM, IST. We will have a reading of "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost and "The Psalm of Life" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
