We visited Normandy beach and cemetery today. It was a sobering experience, reminded me a lot of the feeling at Gettysburg, but more so because I learned that my grandpa landed on that beach 10 days after the initial invasion, so he survived , but there were almost 4,000 soldiers killed on D-day. He lost his best friend, my dad's namesake inthat war and I'm sure many others he loved. He didn't talk much about it, which makes me wonder even more, as I see the displays and think about the sacrifices all those soldiers were willing to make those many years ago. The memorial was beautiful and it was touching to see all the many French people coming to pay their respects. My heart is full of gratitude for those American soldiers those many years ago.

We are in the rainy season, but I love the fall colors and I love the reflections of the trees in the river-- the world is a beautiful place!

Fun afternoon in St. Malo.

I was excited to find pumpkins-- the kids had a great time carving-- Halloween is just starting to become a thing here- my friend said pumpkins were really hard to find last year, but there were a lot this year. They are new world crops-- no corn mazes or pumpkin patch rides, no trick or treating, but we are keeping the tradition!
