Also, name change for the blog - I decided the club will be called Ambrosia. The game will be called Ambrosia with a tag line, like "The community center for vampires", except I haven't decided on a good tag line yet.

Okay, so I've been brainstorming and doing a lot of planning for the game, and I think I've decided on how the "routes" will work.
The typical visual novel, in my experience, involves a period of time during which you generally interact with characters, and then eventually, you get locked into a route with the character you had the most "positive" interactions. From then, there will be several different endings with that one character, depending on choices.
In my vn, I want to create a more loose story. Yes, you can have an experience that's very similar to "routes", by simply choosing to interact with the same character over and over again. However, my plan is to write a general story for every character and how it would happen WITHOUT player input, and then make adjustments depending on player choices.
How would this work? Just by appearing in scenes the player wouldn't usually be in, the player will make an influence on the other characters. E.g. - if two characters have an argument, the player will be able to give their own two cents, which will influence the mood of the characters. Character A may become moody, affecting their other relationships. It could create a chain of events, where other characters are also affected, depending on their personality.
The player will be able to have several different relationships at once with this system - make several friends, maybe even create friend groups, and set up potential romantic interest for act 2.
The goal with this system is to make it feel like the player is actually a part of the community, rather than just latching onto one person.
With 8 full days at the club, and several potential interactions each day, it should be possible to really become a part of the group.
tshirt that says “i survived a vampire situationship” but you’re a vampire now so did you really you did but did u
I finally had enough energy to work on some character things! So far, I have 3 human and 5 vampire characters worked out in my head. Some have been around for years and just dropped into this specific universe, while others are brand new and still need some time to brew in my brain.
I also intend to rework some characters from my old vampire oneshot into the game! Primarily, the gravekeeper (who is already taking shape), and the insert character in the story! Ofc, their stories need to be adjusted slightly to fit what I want to do, however, the game is based off of the short story.
I think I want to add 2 more characters, and that'll be it for the main cast (for now, at least. I might add more if some points in the story feel empty).
I also want to make some of them newbies to the community, while others with established relationships and dynamics, just so it's be more fun to explore.

if vampires existed in real life i think there would be shady companies advertising "organic blood" sourced from "willing donors" who are coincidentally all poor people being paid like $5 per blood donation. and like haughty vegan vampires who only drink a synthetic blood drink thats brewed in a way thats actively worse for the enviroment. and radical traditionalist vampires who go on tiktok and claim that true alpha chads have to drain and kill people and anyone who leaves their victims alive is a liberal cuck. enter the world of hypothetical insufferable vampire politics with me.

The game will center around the club "Ambrosia", where a secret vampire community gathers to socialize, find community, as well as feed. You, the player, will be able to attend daytime community events, as well as live music nights and befriend, romance, and even potentially unravel some secrets the characters hold!
The actual mechanics will be simple - some characters show up in the day, others in the night, and some in both, depending on what is happening. With 4 daytime events, 4 nighttime, and one final Halloween party on the 31st, there will be many different routes the player will be able to take.
In this blog, I intend to share some art, dev logs, spoiler-free snippets, general experience in developing a game by myself for the first time (the only experience I've had in the past is doing art for game jams or small projects), aaand include some general vampire reblogs for funsies.
Finally working on some character designs! This is Ethan (he/they). They do gigs as a DJ at the club. They've been a vampire for hundreds of years. Life gets dull when you're alive for so long, so he fills it with whatever is new and exciting, his current fixation being DJ-ing and EDM!
