- A WRITEBLR INTRODUCTION
hello! it’s been a while (as in almost a year) since i’ve posted original content on here so i guess it’s time for an updated intro
- firstly:
call me ambrosia!
21, she/her, indian american
primarily write realistic/coming-of-age or fantasy
will read anything though, so always open to recs
a bird made of birds is from one of my favorite poems by my favorite spoken word poet, sarah kay. you can listen to it here!
- my works:
maharani, a recently reworked wip that i’m mostly focusing on. it’s a fantasy, all-desi ensemble cast told from a rotating third pov. (intro post coming soon) here’s the current synopsis:
In the Kingdom of Pallava, everything is set in stone. Every Maharani will have one daughter who will take their throne after them. Every Maharani will have an advisor, a seer, who guides them through their reign. Every Maharani is descended from the Rajmata and every seer is descended from the Maharishi. Everything is predetermined.
Rani hates it. As princess, her entire life has been planned out for her, and the only thing she wants is to be free of that fate she was born into, to make her own choices in this world. But when it’s revealed that her blood isn’t royal and her place in the royal family was never hers to begin with, her biggest dream quickly becomes her worst nightmare. With everything she’s ever known being ripped from her without warning, Rani must deal with the consequences.
She’s not the only one tied to a fate she despises. Lalitha is thrust into Rani’s shoes without a moment to prepare when she learns her own blood is one descended from the Maharani. Manthara’s visions are not like anything she’s been taught and she cannot seem to escape her mother’s wishes for her to marry. Together, the three of them can learn to live with the lives they’ve been given, or find a way to change their fate.
current status is planning/first draft. if you look earlier in my writeblr you’ll find excerpts of an old version of it (you can find the tag here, but beware, i’ve changed quite a bit since i posted these excerpts, most of them have been scrapped)
may i offer you an the cheesiest of rom-coms in these trying times? from the top (tentative title), is a contemporary coming-of-age wip about four college students in one beautifully cliché summer. still more of the planning stage, but i’m excited for this one. (intro coming soon) here’s the current synopsis:
It’s the summer before senior year and Nivedha thinks it’s time for a leap of faith. When she meets Eira at a bookstore, she seizes the opportunity and asks her out despite Eira’s roommate Yaazhan telling her that she isn’t Eira’s type. As a compromise, Nivedha sets Yaazhan up with her own roommate Daphne, and the four of them are all set.
However, it takes that date for Nivedha and Yaazhan both to realize out of the four of them, it seems Eira and Daphne have the true connection, and they make it their mission to get the two together. Shenanigans ensue, and maybe a little of their own falling in love along the way.
this is still in the fully planning stage, kind of on the backburner while i work on maharani, but it’ll come eventually! i’ll update this with a tag and stuff when i make it.
