Captain's Snowflake (Steve Rogers x Reader) Part 9
Marvel Masterlist Season 1
I heard a rapid knock on my doors, going to stand when the door opened anyways and Tony, Clint and Natasha barged in.
“What was the point of knocking if you were going to come in anyways?” I asked and Tony shrugged.
“Make sure you're not naked?” He said and I scoffed.
“Yea, sure.” I rolled my eyes before spotting all the bags in their arms. “What is this?” I asked hesitantly as they dumped the bags onto my bed.
“Hopefully something to make Lynnette make a move on you, because I truly believe you are helpless in romance.” Tony said casually and I looked at him offended.
“Im not hopeless.” I scoffed but they all paused and looked at me with unconvinced faces. “I managed to ask her out without your help.” I pointed out as Natasha smirked.
"Yeah, only HYDRA decided to crash it. What are you planning for the make-up dinner?” She asked and I scratched the back of my neck sheepishly.
“I uh.. wasn't entirely sure. We don't even know how much HYDRA knows about her or why they are after her.” I said as I sighed. “I don't want to pick something that could be ruined by someone coming after her.” Natasha put a hand on my shoulder.
“We'll figure out what HYDRA knows and wants eventually. Right now, we can't let them make us stop living, especially you, Rogers.” She said as Clint nodded.
“HYDRA took 70 years from you. It's time to get back out there, and Lynnette does seem like a pretty good choice.” He said before Tony furrowed his brows.
“Why do you like her anyways?” He asked and I looked at him for a moment in confusion making him shrug. “What? It's a valid question.” He said and I sighed, looking down at the table.
“I.. I don't know. I just, feel like something is pulling me to her. I can't explain it.” I said, making Natasha smile softly. “She doesn't just look at me like I'm some science project. She doesn't see me as a super soldier. She just sees me as me, the kid from Brooklyn. It feels..” I couldn't finish my sentence as I sighed, my shoulders slumping.
“Like she sees you, not just the name attached to you?” Nat suggested and I smiled at her, nodding slightly as I wrung my hands together.
“Yea.. She actually makes me forget about all the stuff that's happened when I'm with her. She just feels like this light to be around.” I said and Tony was quiet before he cleared his throat.
“Alright, enough sappy shit. You, take these, go change.” He said, shoving some bags into my hands and I looked at him, unimpressed and he rolled his eyes. “Yea, be annoyed all you want, we're trying to get you laid here.” He said and I rolled my eyes, ignoring the red of my ears at the mention of.. ‘getting laid’. I didn't know if I could even bring myself to think such things about Lynn without feeling guilty. She seems so young and innocent, god it made me feel so guilty if I looked at her with anything but pure thoughts.
I looked into the bags they had given me, a lot of sweaters, coats and cardigans were in it, some sweatpants too, even though I had plenty of those, all looking very cozy and they felt expensively soft. I sighed and looked at myself in the bathroom mirror, biting my cheek for a moment before giving another sigh, getting out one of the sweaters, a simple knit one that had small knitted patterns going down the sides. It was comfortable, but it felt weird, not used to such soft and warm materials. Normally my body already ran warm, so I didn't need sweaters that often anymore. I held it up to me in the mirror, tilting my head as I thought of what Lynn might think. I put it down, moving into another bag and pulling out a dark grey knit cardigan. I turned it over in my hands before sliding it on, looking at myself in the mirror before I sighed. This felt ridiculous.
“How's it going in there?” Nat asked as she knocked on the door. I sighed and opened it, her eyes looking me over before she nodded. “Cute. I think the white sweater would look better though.” She said and I looked at her before turning back to the white sweater I had first picked up.
“Which one do you think Lynn would like more?” I asked, feeling my face heat up at my question, the grin spreading to all of their faces at my nerves.
“Put the white sweater on.” Clint suggested and I sighed, taking the dark grey cardigan off and putting on the white overhead sweater.
“That one.” They all said immediately before they laughed and grinned, Tony clapping his hands.
“Alright, let me know when he needs a haircut or anything else, cause I dont want to puke seeing the googly eyes Lynn is gonna be making once she sees you.” He said before bidding his goodbye as Nat started fixing my hair.
“What are you doing? Stop it.” I said, batting her hands away when she lightly smacked me on the back of my head.
“Hold still, you still have dirt in your hair from the mission.” She said and I rolled my eyes, huffing as she finally took her hands away from my hair. “Now, go see what she thinks.” She said and I looked at her confused.
“Now? Right now?” I asked, feeling a slight panic as she and a grinning Clint started pulling me out of my room. “Wait, Im not ready. I dont even know what to say to her.” I said, trying to pull back from them but Natasha grinned.
“Hey Lynn?!” She called and my eyes widened, hearing her call back asking what's up. “Need your opinion on some clothes!” She said and I soon heard quiet footsteps walking towards my room and I froze. Clint patted my shoulder as he chuckled.
“Try not to turn into a cherry again when talking to her. You have a tendency to do that.” He mused with a laugh as I huffed, only for Lynn to step into my doorway and freeze at the sight of me. We all looked at her, waiting for a reaction when her face turned bright red and her eyes widened slightly, before suddenly she put a hand over her mouth and nose.
“Give me a moment, please.” She squeaked out before dashing off, but I could hear her heart speed up as soon as she saw me. I looked at Nat and Clint with furrowed brows before Nat nodded to the door.
“You just going to let her run away, Cap?” Clint asked and I looked between them for a moment before I took off after her.
“Lynn, wait.” I called after her, seeing her pause in front of her bedroom door. “Im sorry, are you okay?” I asked and she gave a small nervous laugh.
“Why are you apologizing?” She asked, her hand still over her nose and I frowned.
“I.. You ran away, I thought maybe I did something.” I said, making her laugh before she opened her room door.
“I ran away because I took one look at you and got a nosebleed.” She mused as she made a beeline for the box of tissues on her bed. I furrowed my brows, not understanding how she got a nosebleed from that.
“How.. I gave you a nosebleed?” I asked and she chuckled, holding a tissue to her nose, the cotton turning black where it soaked up her blood. She chuckled and shrugged.
“This is not the first time this has happened.” She mused and I looked at her in disbelief as I chuckled.
“Really?” I asked and she looked at me like I had 3 heads.
“Honey, when you got the serum and stepped out of that machine, I swear I just about fainted. Not to mention you in a uniform or sweatpants.” She rambled before her cheeks darkened and her nose started bleeding more. “God damnit, why do you have to be so fucking hot?” She muttered as she turned and grabbed more tissue, walking to her bathroom as I stood there, my own face bright red.
“I uh.. I didn't know I had that effect on you.” I said, letting out a breathy laugh, feeling flustered at how obvious her physical attraction was to me now. She let out a loud laugh as she walked back into the room.
“Sir, I can't even look at a glazed donut without thinking about you. In a way, I blame you for how dirty my brain is now.” She said and I furrowed my brows and laughed.
“Why a donut?” I asked and she grinned.
“Again, when you stepped out of that damn machine all shirtless and sweaty. You looked like a glazed donut and I will never be the same after seeing that.” She said and I couldn't help but laugh as I stepped closer to her, a small playful smile coming onto my face.
“Well, then you must have a favourite look on me. What's better? Me shirtless, or in a sweater?” I asked and she grinned, her nose finally stopped bleeding as she looked me up and down.
“Hmm.. that's a really hard question.” She said and I could see her finger twitch, a smirk coming to my face.
“It is?” I asked, gently taking her hands as I placed them on me, a small hum coming from me as her hands ran down my stomach lightly. She wrapped her arms around me as she took a deep breath.
“I don't think either of those are my favourite looks on you.” She mused and I raised an eyebrow.
“Oh? then what is?” I asked and she grinned.
“Probably the mission suit you wear in 2022.” She said and I hummed.
“Ive got to wait 10 years before I get that suit though.” I chuckled but she grinned, her hands moving up my chest to wrap around my neck.
“And I've got to wait 10 years until you decide to grow a beard. I think if I can wait, so can you.” She mused and I raised an eyebrow.
“Oh? You want me to grow a beard, huh?” I asked and she giggled.
“You have no idea how wild you can drive me, Steve Rogers.” She hummed and I felt a boost of confidence at that, putting my hands on her waist.
“Anything specific?” I asked, my voice a little lower as she looked up at me with flustered eyes. My arms pulled her close, one of my hands trailing up her side until I cupped her cheek lightly.
“Why do you want to know?” She asked and I smirked, tilting her head up to mine.
“Tell me, and maybe I'll do it more often.” I said softly and felt her shiver under my touch.
“Oh, but just you being you is what I find most attractive.” She said, looking up at me through her lashes. “I won't lie, it's so hot to see a man be genuinely responsible and sweet. I don't think there's anything about you that can get better.” She mused and I felt heat going through my body. Her hands felt like a burning fire on me, like a heat I couldn't get enough of.
“Why don’t we find out?” I asked her and her eyes turned to me, a soft, shy look taking over her features.
“Are we still taking things slow?” She asked and I smiled, leaning down until our foreheads touched.
“If that’s what you want.” I hummed and she smiled, leaning up as she pressed her lips softly to mine. I melted against her, pulling her closer as our lips moved in sync, neither of us even noticed as Nat and Clint leaned their head in, grinning at us before silently leaving us be. We pulled apart slowly, both of us looking into each other's eyes for a moment before I couldn’t help myself as I leaned down quickly to bring her into another shiver-inducing kiss. By the time evening came around, her and I were tangled in bed, still clothed, as we watched another show she loved, desperate housewives. It was interesting, and for some reason oddly addictive. We got through the whole first season before we fell asleep, even having our dinner in her room. I hope it didn’t become a habit to spend the night here, but I couldn’t deny how nice it felt to have her in my arms.
Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if I slept in here with Lynn once in a while.
Waking up in Steve’s arms was becoming a bad habit. I’ve been here for 3 months in total and now was actually when Fury was relocating Steve to Washington. I was sad to see him go, figuring that I would stay here but when Fury said I would be going with him, saying Steve would be watching over me while I continued to train. So we were currently here, after falling asleep packing up our things, not much but enough that we were tired afterwards. I gave a pleasant sigh as I cuddled into his chest more, his strong arms wrapped around me as his face was tucked into my hair. I smiled and left a small kiss on his chest, closing my eyes as I settled again, feeling nice with the sun lightly shining down on us, birds softly chirping when I felt Steve take in a deep breath, his arms tightening around me. He made a small noise, curling around me more, making me giggle slightly, his face moving to the crook of my neck as he gave a big sigh. I rubbed his back and smiled, kissing his head.
“You know, eventually I’m not going to be able to sleep without you.” I muttered, kissing his head again as he gave a small hum.
“I guess I’ll need a bigger bed then.” He mused, his voice rough and sexy making me shiver as his nose trailed up my neck. “How’d you sleep?” He asked and I hummed, smiling as I gave a pleasant sigh.
“Great, as usual when you’re here.” I sighed and felt him give a low chuckle, looking up at me as he took in a deep breath, a smile on his face. “How about you, Stevie?” I asked and his smile widened a little more as he pulled me in for a soft kiss. I melted into his arms and sighed, our lips moving slowly as his hands held me tight to him.
“I love it when you call me that.” He said as we pulled apart and I smiled, hugging him tight. It was so relaxing to just lay there, both of us enjoying the calm when JARVIS just had to interrupt us.
“Ms. Laverna, Mr. Rogers, your plane to Washington leaves in 1 hour.” He said and I groaned, burying my face in Steve’s chest.
“JARVIS, you are lucky I won’t be around Billy or Tommy in the future. See how you like nice moments being interrupted.” I grumbled as Steve chuckled.
“Who’s Billy and Tommy?” Steve asked and I grinned.
“I don’t believe you ever meet them, and I may sound crazy if I tell you.” I said and he gave me a small smile.
“I promise, I’ll never think you’re crazy.” He said and I contemplated if I should tell him or not. Where’s the fun in knowing the future if I can’t tease people with it.
“Well, Billy and Tommy are the future kids of a future teammate and.. JARVIS.” I said and he blinked at me before his brows furrowed a moment later.
“JARVIS.. Has kids?” He asked and I chuckled.
“Well, he’s not called JARVIS by then, but yes.” I said and he looked at me in disbelief, like he was waiting for me to say it was a joke.
“You’re serious?” He asked and I chuckled, nodding and he turn onto his back, an arm still around me as he looked up at the ceiling.
“So, originally, JARVIS gets a girl and kids before me.” He said with a slight chuckle as he shook his head. “At least he got a happy ending I guess.” He said and I gave a sheepish smile, grimacing at knowing just how wrong he was. He looked at me and saw my face, his eyebrows raising.
“No happy ending?” He asked and my lips curled in as I looked away.
“Uh.. not exactly.” I said before looking at the ceiling. “But I will be trying to change that. He needs a happier ending.” I said and he looked at me curiously.
“Do I get a happy ending?” He asked and I paused, my smile faltering as I looked at him.
“You do, however it also absolutely pissed off all your fans and is completely out of character for you, so I'm going to make sure you get something better.” I said and he raised an eyebrow.
“Why does it piss you off?” He asked and I sighed, leaning my head against his chest before I looked up at him.
“Okay, I can’t tell you what happens but I do want you to know that I am changing it. You deserve a better ending. You and someone else.” I said and he raised a brow.
“You have someone in mind for me?” He asked, a small smirk on his face making me laugh.
“A friend, yes. Though, they are also the reason you might hate me.” I said, giving a small sigh before Steve let out a small huff.
“I swear, I will never hate you.” He said but I sighed and hugged him.
“If you knew the reason why, you wouldn’t say that.” I said, and a silence came over us, his arms still wrapped around me before he sat up.
“When do I find out what this reason is?” He asked and I sighed, sitting up too.
“January 2014.” I said and he was quiet for a moment before he pulled me close.
“Until then, I promise, I know I will never hate you, and I’m sure even after, I won’t hate you.” He said and I felt tears lining my eyes as I took in a shaky breath.
“If you do, I won’t blame you.” I said, my hands gripping his shirt lightly. He gave a small sigh and buried his nose in my hair.
“I swear, no matter what it is. You feel special to me, really special. Nothing will change that.” He said and I smiled, looking at him as his hand laid on my cheek. “Please believe that.” He whispered and I felt my heart thumping in my chest, our lips connecting softly.
“I do.” I said quietly, feeling him smile into the kiss before JARVIS interrupted us again, giving us a 45 minute warning. We sighed before we got up, getting dressed and ready before moving any last minute boxes onto the plane, Steve and I sitting by each other the whole ride to Washington. I think I fell asleep sometime on the flight because the next thing I knew I was being carried in someone's arms, smiling as I leaned in closer to the warmth, a strong heartbeat in my ear as I was surrounded by the delicious scent of Steve. “Stevie..” I mumbled, only to feel a kiss on my head a moment later, being set down on something soft. I gave a small whine as the warmth left me and I tried reaching a hand out when I felt something soft in my hands, the smell of Steve filling my senses. I pulled the fabric closer, hugging it to my chest as I smiled in my sleep, giving a content sigh, falling back into a sleep filled with delightful dreams of Steve.
I smiled at Lynnette, seeing her asleep on my new bed, my sweater I was just wearing clutched in her hands. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face as I continued bringing boxes inside. Lynn was supposed to be in the apartment next door, but I didn’t mind it if she chose to stay in here with me. I had grown used to having her around since we lived on the same floor of the tower and now, I guess it would feel weird to not have her in my spaces. I was just bringing the last box up when the door opposite Lynn's apartment opened up and a blonde woman walked out, seeming to pause at the sight of me before she smiled.
“Sorry, I didn’t realize people were moving in today.” She said and I smiled, giving a small nod.
“We’re just moving in, sorry if I’m in your way.” I said sheepishly, moving out of her way as her eyes lingered on me.
“Oh, no worries.” She said before her brows furrowed. “We?” She asked and I blushed slightly, giving a small chuckle.
“My girl, Lynnette, fell asleep on the way here. She’s taking a nap right now.” I said and she raised an eyebrow, disappointment reading on her face but I didn’t notice.
“Your girl?” She asked and I realized what I said.
“Uh, yea.. I uh.. My girl.” I said and she gave a small nod.
“Well, it was nice meeting you. I’ll let you get settled then.” She said as she turned to enter her apartment again.
“I’m Steve, by the way.” I said, figuring I should at least be polite to a neighbor and she turned to me, smiling slightly.
“Kate.” She said before closing her door and I entered my apartment. I sighed as I set the box down, before hearing rustling in the bedroom and my smile widened, entering the room to see Lynn sat up, looking groggy but her eyes lit up at the sight of me before she pouted.
“You let me sleep.” She said and I chuckled, coming over and kissing her head. I nodded and sat down next to her. “But I wanted to help.” She pouted and I chuckled, hugging her.
“You looked so nice just sleeping though, especially holding my sweater in your sleep.” I mused and she blushed, biting her lip as I smiled.
“It smells like you…” She said softly and I chuckled.
“I guess it’s a good thing Nat got me those sweaters then, huh?” I asked and she grinned.
“I’m gonna have to thank her for that.” She chuckled. “You have no idea how hard it is to keep my hands off of you. I mean, before it was hard but now, you really drive me wild.” She admitted, her arms wrapping around me as I smirked.
“Well, we are finally alone.” I said, my hand trailing up her side. “No one's stopping your hands now.” I mused and she grinned, her lips finding mine as she climbed onto my lap. Fuck, I hope she stays here with me.
