She was in the kitchen, busy cooking as she was trying to get dinner finished before he got home. Emma moved to take the pot of pasta off the stove to drain it in the sink when she sensed the car pull into the drive way. There was a brief moment of panic.
“I am in the kitchen!” She shook the strainer to try and get the water to drain faster. “Did you have a good day at work?” Emma dumped the pasta back into the pot and added some butter to it, stirring it while the butter melted.
☤ “It was... certainly an eventful one,” he called back as he adjusted the corgi puppy; the little pup whimpered and whined softly. “Shhhh. Shhhh. I know. You’re probably hungry again,” he whispered soothingly to the puppy as he entered the kitchen. ☤ “Meet Sprite. One of our regulars brought her in when it was discovered her mother had rejected her, and their hands are full with the rest of the litter, so... I’ll be taking care of this little one until its strong enough to and old enough to be placed up for adoption,” he carefully informed Emma.
