Design Philosophy Statement
My main area of design interest is graphics, in particular, branding, advertising and logos. These were a common theme among all my classes this term, whether it was through a historic, advertising, or semiotic lens. When beginning my design process for my portfolio, I discovered that the majority of my inspiration was drawn from topic issues that I am passionate about, such as gender equality, sexual assault and plastic pollution. I believe design is a great opportunity for designers to educate their audience about issues such as these. I chose a poster for the medium of two of my works as they are an easy and affective way to get a message across publicly, whether this is on the back of a bathroom stall door or at a bus station. My main influences for my portfolio were Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, The Red Flag Campaign, Es Devlin and Sue Lipscombe.Ā
