If there was ever a reason to cringe, this post may be it.
I’m looking around my room at University; clothes scattered everywhere, books removed from their shelves, jewellery taken down from my pin board and the sun shining through.
Packing up my stuff to move back home is pretty bittersweet.
On one hand I’m crazy excited to venture off to Thailand in a few weeks time as well as heading to Glastonbury and catch up with my friends at home. But then again I can’t help but think about how much I’m going to miss this this first year of uni which really gone incredibly fast.
I came here apprehensive; worried about the people I’d meet, the place I would be living in and the course I took. And now I’m begging for there to be a way to relive it all again!
There have been general hiccups along the way, but there has never been a time this year when I have thought to myself ‘why did I come here?’. Every single person I have met, with the slight exception of one or two, have made this initial University experience better than I’d hoped. There have never been cliques, arguments or exclusions, we’ve all just lived like students and made some epic memories along the way.
I feel as if I’ve grown as a person and learnt to relax more whilst trying to live like an ‘adult’ at the same time - two actions that wouldn't usually go hand in hand for me. I’ve become a more spontaneous person and less of a planner, more fun and less worried, more appreciative of how lucky I am and less prone to taking advantage.
It’s really been one of the best years I’ve ever had.
As everyone slowly starts to disperse from the uni halls and it gets a little quieter, I find myself not feeling sad that year one is coming to an end, but hugely optimistic about the year ahead. I already feel like I’ve made friends that’ll last a lifetime to join my current ones and I cannot wait to see what year two has in store!
In light of this big fat soppy post, there’s an abundance of snaps below to illustrate what an amazing time I’ve had.
Thank you to everyone who’s made it incredible, you’re all keepers.
