@miatreadwell: my girlfriend is hotter than yours.
“I expect they don’t really approve of that in customs, no.” She replies, a smile tugging at her lips.
“No, I guess they wouldn’t,” Mia retorted with a like chuckle. “It would have been amazing to see their faces. Even if koalas are evil as hell.” Crinkling her nose ever so slightly, she put down her sketchpad; offering her a place to sit as she moved her feet. “Stolen any flowers lately?”
keziahaldridge:
“Shh, no. People still think I’m a badass.” She quipped, pouting at her girlfriend. Around Mia she was anything but a badass. In fact she was probably the sappiest girlfriend there is. “I’m slightly biased towards Italian food… so I’m going to say Italy has the best — we’re a close second though?” She grinned. “We do really good hotdogs. I’ll give us that.”
“Right, totally. You're the baddest badass.” Mia totally didn't believe her words. Not for one second, but if it made her girlfriend feel better then why the hell not? “Okay, I'll give you that, Italian does taste the best,” she retorted, the innuendo blatantly there for the taking. “Gray's Papaya has the best. And the old man.” The same one they'd gone to for years-- at least she had.
first defeat. | mia & maeve
Maeve couldn’t remember how long it had been, since she’d been back at that little café where they first met. Well, actually — she could. She could pinpoint the exact moment she promised herself she could never come back, and it didn’t have anything to do with the coffee. It was dawn; something similar to that, anyway. The sun hard barely peaked it’s way out from under the New York skyline, but the streets were already coming to life. Trucks, mostly — joggers, soaking up the morning air. And then Maeve; completely out of place, in the back booth they would always take up. The man behind the counter didn’t recognise her, although she supposed that was fitting, seeing as it had been so long. She didn’t want to be recognised. She didn’t want the questions. Sleep had evaded her yet again, and faint purple half moons hung under her eyes telling that story all by themselves. But Maeve couldn’t quite bring herself to care about that right now. All she was, was full of nerves; and even though she was on her third cup of coffee for that morning, she liked to think she pulled herself together well enough. She was probably wrong.
Mia had quietly snuck out of her bed; not without brushing her lips against her girlfriend's forehead. Keziah was so peacefully asleep. So much in fact that she didn't want to wake her-- and she didn't. Not even after she'd drew on a pair of holely jeans and an old NYU hoodie over her head. It would have been laughable had she realized just realized the irony. It didn't take long to reach the cafe. The blonde had only ran into a few slow pedestrians. Generally irate, she just brushed it off; offering minute smiles. Her mind was filled with a certain brunette. They needed this conversation. It was fitting really. Their start would now be their end. Mia never put much thought into such trivial things, but this certainly weighed on her. As she entered her old work place, she had to suck in a deep breath. Crystalline hues fixated on her right off the bat. Of course, she'd still look amazing-- even before six o'clock in the morning. Rather than ordering herself something, she crept up to the table-- words escaping her. It wasn't until she sat opposite of Maeve that she finally spoke. “Should we just cut to the chase; or try to do the whole smalltalk thing-- and pretend there isn't a massive fucking elephant in the room?”
“I always am for you.” Keziah quipped with a shrug, a smile at the feeling of her girlfriend’s lips against her cheek. “But don’t tell anyone, It’ll ruin my ‘rep.” She teased with a nudge. She squeezed the blonde’s hand gently, her thumb running back and forth against her skin. “You’re always craving hotdogs, baby. I’m used to this. —Let’s go get you one, yeah?”
“Babe, I think you already ruined way before now,” she retroted, raising her brow slightly before erupting in a faint chuckle. The sound continued as she listened to her girlfriend. It was true. She was always craving them. “Can you blame me? We live in the best city on earth... “ Scrunching up her nose, she immediately regretted that. “Okay, no that’s bullshit but we have the best food here.”
satan;;
Maeve: if you don't want me to make smart ass comments you're going to have to play nice you know.
[ typing. ]
Maeve: what about our cafe?
Mia: but you don't like it when anyone plays nice.
Mia: is that what you were really going to say?
Mia: okay.
satan;;
Maeve: what, do you need witnesses?
Maeve: I'm flattered.
Mia: I don't give a shit about witnesses.
Mia: don't be. you're still a pain in my ass.
satan;;
Maeve: [ text seen five minutes ago. ]
Maeve: fine. where?
Mia: somewhere out in the open.
satan;;
Mia: We should talk.
Mia: Before you have some smartass comment. Just don't.
Two drifters, off to see the world There’s such a lot of world to see
“Cute. They are cute. And all I wanted was a koala. One little, cute creature.” She replied with a small grin. She heard the change in the other girl’s tone almost immediately and she shrugged. “I’ve been coping. I’ve been working out rather than drinking. Having quite a bit of sex. You know, healthier things. But I’m not great, honestly. I’m just trying not to be sad anymore.” She admitted, knowing Mia was one of the people she could be honest with and not feel judged. She laughed and shook her head, “No no. I would be too jealous to marry a stripper, I think. I wouldn’t want other people seeing what’s mine.”
Mia simply rolled her eyes. Nothing was going to change her mind. Koalas were something that Satan himself created in order to trick people. They were not to be trusted. The blonde's hair fell forward as she nodded. “That sounds pretty sweet. Especially the sex part. I'm glad that everything is turning around for you,” she sincerely quipped, giving Tammy a meager smile. A chuckle soon parted from her, and her head fell back. Silently, she motioned for the petite girl to join her; moving her feet to give her room. “I honestly, don't think I would be? I'm not that jealous.”
Catie raised her eyebrows. “I didn’t ask for a Koala? Aren’t they supposed to be really vicious anyways? Why would you want one?”
“Finally,” Mia exclaimed, nodding her head happily. “Finally, someone on this damn show gets it! Yes, they are. They’re little bastards really.”
A can of soda in one hand, a bag of chips in the other, Maya took a seat on the couch and put her feet up. “I tried to tell your girlfriend how she could smuggle one in through the baggage cargo on the plane but she thought I was joking. Or was that you? I don’t know; I told someone.”
Mia nipped at the inside of her cheek, trying to place the other girl. Of course, she was on the show-- that was obvious but she was otherwise unsure. “That was probably Kez, I don't remember.” Though, a moment later a light bulb went off. “Wait, you were the one that wanted to fuck Addie, right?”
“Uhm… Actually, I was wondering if I could see your drawing?” Standing somewhat awkwardly in front of the woman, Olivia’s keen eyes were drawn to the blonde across from her, sketchbook open in her lap and pencil moving. Ava had loved to sketch, paint, and sculpt before her sister passed.. Now she did none of those things as she’d taken on Olivia’s identity. “But I understand if its personal..”
Mia furrowed her brows slightly, almost skeptical of the raven haired girl. It wasn't often she showed her drawings to anyone-- it was more or less something she kept for herself. Nevertheless, she gave a faint shrug. “Yeah, okay, dude-- it's not the greatest,” she promised, lifting her pencil off the paper. Showing it to the other, she almost couldn't look at her. Granted, she was her own worst critic.
keziahaldridge:
Keziah had never really been a relationships person with anyone other than Mia, and briefly Kristen. Sometimes the thought of just how in love she was with the blonde terrified her, but then she remembered just how happy she was in this relationship and she put those thoughts to rest. “I’m really not. I’m just doin’ what I can for the girl I love.” She hummed, reaching down to grab the blonde’s hand. “I can guarantee you I won’t regret it.”
“You're such a cheeseball sometimes, babe,” she murmured, brushing her lips against the Italian's cheek. Nevertheless, she took hold of the girl's hand with a growing smile. Mia could only hope she meant that. She was tiring of being something that others regretted. Granted, she was just lucky that Keziah hadn't already-- with their past, it was only fair. “Is it bad that I'm really craving a hot dog right now? Okay, I'm always in the mood for one-- but right now it's just mad crazy.”
keziahaldridge:
There was a time in Keziah’s life where she never thought she’d be able to forgive Mia for upping and leaving her so soon after she lost her mother, the time that she needed her the most. But in a way she understood why the girl had done it, and no longer held any animosity towards her about it. In fact the only thing she felt for Mia now was irrevocable love. She shook her head, her hand not halting. “I don’t ‘put up’ with anything.” The artist quipped, pulling back slightly so her girlfriend could look into her eyes and see how genuine her words were. “I’m here because I want to be and because I have never and will never love anyone as much as I love you.” The raven haired girl leaned forward, pressing a chaste kiss to the girl’s lips. “I’m afraid you’re just going to have to get used to me being around.
Mia wanted to believe her; she really did. It was just so difficult for the blonde. Especially as of late, having her past glaring her in the face. Although, Keziah technically counted as such-- she didn't see her as that. She saw the darker girl as her present-- and quite possibly future. The latter was far too scary to consider, a certain commitment phobe made sure of that. “You're too amazing, Kez,” she finally said, swallowing hard. “I love you, too.” And she did. She merely smiled against her girlfriend's lips. “You're going to end up regretting that,” she murmured, pulling away from her. “Let's walk, yeah?”
