NAME: Amelia Dalton AGE: 30 GENDER: cis female PRONOUNS: she/her DATE OF ARRIVAL: June 1990 JOB: Librarian
BIO:
Amelia Dalton spent the first twenty four years of her life quiet and cowering under the roof of her father; a man who had more alcohol than blood in his veins, and never enough cash in hand to excuse how late he stayed out at the casino. A scholarship to UCLA to study English Literature was her saving grace, and the friends she made in that college changed her life. First the unruly bunch started a zine together that saw Amelia writing reviews for the newest and noisiest punk bands in town- sticking out like a sore thumb in her far more hippy garb, but at least it meant she never got lost in the crowd- and then they banded together after graduation to pull together the money for a van that just about got them out to Seattle.
There, living on a commune surrounded by fellow starving artists she started to make a bit of a name for herself off the back of these reviews; the most cutting edge punk was being born in Seattle, and Amelia was always excited to report on it. When The Weirdos- a popular but long ago split up band, who Amelia had met way back in college when guitarist Dix Denney had lost a boot on stage, only for it to end up clocking her in the nose- announced their reunion she knew she had to report on that too. But of course, she had to celebrate it first, with all her friends and the band themselves invited to the party.
Of course, just after she started getting somewhere with Dix- finally getting that kiss he’d been promising since said boot offense- the ever watchful Panopticon decided it was her time. As far as anyone can tell Amelia isn’t bitter about it these days, having built herself a fine enough life zipping about the island on her rollerskates, writing pages and pages she keeps promising to turn into books, and cultivating a fun little farm behind her house.
She’s found the best way to stave off island madness is to keep busy, so Amelia has been obsessively consuming music and media since her arrival on the island, and is quick to talk the ear off of anyone who makes the mistake of hanging around to listen. Spying on the rest of the world does make her feel a bit icky, and it’s certainly not the only negativity she’s repressing, but Amelia isn’t sure what would happen if she let the anger out, and she doesn’t want to concern other islanders. So far she’s done a good job at keeping herself in check, but with the new arrivals and the island itself starting to change, she’s fearful that something could disrupt the fragile peace she’s built.
