If you had to imagine your dream Bughead panel, what would it look like?
Well, it’s just an idea, really, I haven’t thought about all the details yet. It’s sort of a mystery-adventure type of story that features not only Bughead, but their families as well. Yep. The Cooper-Jones clan without the messy Riverdale drama. It probably goes like this: FP Jones excitedly comes home one evening to announce that he has won tickets for a cruise. Gladys beams at the thought of not doing household chores for a week; Jughead imagines all the food he can eat at the buffet; and Jellybean, who seems to have miraculously worn a pair of star-shaped sunglasses and a cute flamingo-printed bathing suit while her mom and her brother were daydreaming, gives Hot Dog a high-five.
On the day they board the ship to the Galapagos, the Jones family are surprised to find the Coopers there (all five of them, plus Caramel - because we can’t leave out Caramel. If Hot Dog’s on the trip, then Caramel has to be there too. Equality!). They exchange pleasantries, of course, and Betty explains to Jughead that her older brother Chic insisted on the trip because for the first time since he started working, he finally has enough time off to go on a vacation with them. The next set of panels will probably show both families enjoying the ship’s amenities: the mothers enjoying a massage at the spa, the fathers playing tennis at the courts, and the children having a blast at the pool while the pets are... I don’t know... sunbathing? Hahaha! It’s a comic. Anything’s possible!
But there has to be a twist, right? So, as it turns out, the cruise isn’t just a vacation for Chic. It’s part of an assignment. See, Chic is a secret agent and the mission he’s currently working on requires him to travel to the Galapagos because that’s where the bad people are secretly doing the bad stuff that he needs to resolve somehow. I don’t know what it is yet. I haven’t really thought about it, but it has to be something that’s related to Mr. Jones’ job too. Or Jughead. There has to be a reason why their family won the tickets to the same cruise, so everything ties well together. Anyway, I just want to show off Chic Cooper’s cool job and I think it’s also a good chance for Bughead’s sleuthing skills to come in to play. Polly’s a successful reporter too, so of course, she’ll come in handy in this mystery as well. And let’s not forget little Jellybean! She’s probably the smartest one in this group, so she’ll probably end up solving the whole thing herself... Scooby Doo-style.
So basically, what I want is just for the Joneses and the Coopers to hang out on a cruise and have fun in a Caribbean paradise while helping Chic save the world. Something fun and wholesome. Kinda similar to the first Incredibles movie, but without the superpowers. Something like that, I guess. Preferably with lots of panels dedicated to Betty and Jughead being super detectives while casually throwing compliments towards each other. If there’s a panel with their three siblings and their pets exchanging knowing glances while Bughead flirt unknowingly, then that will make it even more perfect! Hahaha! How about you, pals n gals? Do you have a dream Bughead panel? Please do share it with us! ♥
