“Hey, back off!” Yusuke exclaimed, reeling his now clenched fist back before unleashing a spirit energy filled punch directly to the no longer stunned creature’s skull. The impact set the mindless creature hurtling to the opposite end of the swamp before disappearing out of sight. Though what appeared to be a resounding victory soon proved to be anything but. Raising from the mushy surface, came several more of the zombie-like monstrosities. Individually, they were as much a threat to Yusuke as the initial monster– however, in a large group, along with having to fend them off of a semi-defenseless Botan, these were not exactly the cards Yusuke would play with confidence.
Taking a stance in front of his assistant, guarding her from the steadily impending onslaught, Yusuke’s teeth gritted in his jaw, chocolate-hue eyes staring at the insurmountable odds. “Alright, Botan, looks like we have two choices. One, I kill all of their asses until they can’t stand anymore and waste a hell of a lot of time doing so. Or two, we find a way out of this crappy mess and get to the big bad before he sends more stupid monsters after us. What’ll it be because I really need some frickin’ input.”
Botan can’t help but to clamber behind the detective when he shields her from the creatures closing in on them. She peaks over his back, forelocks tickling his shoulder as she stares at the odds. They… they are bad odds. Very bad odds. There is no dancing around this one.
“You know I won’t be any use here!” If she weren’t so cowardly maybe she’d be defeated by that statement. Hey, she’d rather be useless than dead meat! “As much as I would be the highlight of a drinking party with a story on how I ferried myself back to Spirit World, I think we will have to make our retreat for better planning!”
And with that, the emissary is grabbing at Yusuke’s arm, pulling him along as she gets a running start. Then she hops on her oar, making doubly sure that the other has hopped on behind her. Already the muddy beasts made it a point to swat at the two, which prompted Botan to take off at immense speeds.
“Hang on tight!”
