ââBut Iâm considerably older than you are, and youâre a Queen.â Josh tried to argue his point. The barely knew anything about each other anymore. The last time heâd seen her, she was still just a child. How could they possibly make this thing work between them? Sheâd grow bored, and then where would they stand?
"You're not that much older, I'm sure there are people with much larger age gaps in this situation." She countered, she hadn't actually thought of the age gap, she hadn't been expecting this that she hadn't really thought about anything. "I'm fairly certain titles have nothing to do with this."

âStubborn should definitely be your middle name.â Josh teased. He was about to release the hold he had on Amiraâs when the unexpected happened. The tattoo on his bare left forearm buzzed and lit up like a Christmas tree. Eyes wide, his gaze kept drifting from the tattoo and back to Amira. He was gobsmacked and didnât know what to say, so after a time all he did was stare at her face expectantly.
âAmira Stubborn Saud definitely has a ring to it.â She laughed. Glancing down at his tattoo, unsure how to react. She had paid very close attention when everything was explained, she knew exactly what it meant but she didnât think it would happen so quickly. âWell, at least itâs someone I know.â She let out an awkward chuckle, mimicking what she had said earlier as she looked back up to his face.

âForever is a long time, Amira. Forever is not whatâs guaranteed.â He smirked, nodding his understanding. âIâll tryâŠâ The Guardian said, squeezing Amiraâs hand in return. There was still so much guilt that he felt about the situation, but perhaps he would be able to let go of it soon.
âWell Iâm patient enough and stubborn enough.â She laughed. âGood Iâm glad.â She smiled, glancing down at their hands as he squeezed it back. It was then that she started to feel buzzing coming from her shoulder, rolling it to try and stop the sensation.

âAre you seriously giving me permission to be grumpy?â Josh questioned with a raised brow. ââThat might be the wrong thing to say, Amira. I might just stay grumpy forever.â He teased, though the smile dropped just a few seconds later. âI have a lot of guilt I carry, and I donât know how to let go of it yetâŠâ
âWell if you stay grumpy forever, Iâll just have to try and cheer you up forever.â She laughed, growing serious when she saw him do so. âThere is no need for your guilt, but we can work on it, okay?â She gave a small smile, shifting her arm out of his hold so that her hand was in his, giving it a squeeze.

âI wasâŠâ Josh apologized again, and for the first time, he agreed with her assessment. He was thinking about himself. âItâs not fine⊠I didnât think about you. I just thought of myself. Let me make it up to youâŠâ He said with a kinder and more genuine smile. âI wonât be grumpy anymore, if that helps.â
Seeing his smile, as well as his promise, she couldnât help but give a small chuckle and shake her head. âNo you can be grumpy. Nobody can be happy all the time, but donât dwell on the past okay? Hamir liked you, heâd want you to be happy.â

Her outburst had his brows raising. Josh knew then that heâd fucked up big time. He didnât even think about her. This whole time, heâd been sullen for his misgivings, for the errors of his ways, and he didnât even know how to forgive himself. What he didnât take into consideration was her feelings, and how much sheâs had to borne in her young age. The Guardian reacted right away, reaching for her tiny wrist as she tried to walk past him. âAmira, Iâm sorryâŠâ He said with a tired sigh. âI didnât mean to make you angryâŠâ Using very little force, he pulled her back, forcing her to face him, before apologizing again. âI apologize.â
Blinking rapidly to clear the tears from her eyes as she was stopped and turned back around, she refused to look up at him, instead focusing on his hold on her wrist. âNo because you were just thinking about yourself.â She grumbled, already hearing her mothers voice chiding her for acting so childish, especially in public. Taking a deep breath, she composed herself, finally looking up at him. âItâs fine.âÂ

âAvelineâ he replied, continuing to petting her
âAveline is a beautiful name. Where did you find him?â

âProbably. But itâd result in lots of blood and an eye-patch, if not my death, which is a lot of work. So Iâd rather find something else to do, if you get me.â
âYeah, I donât imagine it would be very good. We could go exploring if youâd like? Iâve explored some parts but this place is so big itâll take a while to see all of it.â

âYou donât even know me, I donât want to annoy youâ
âYou wonât annoy me if I offered, and sometimes itâs good to just speak even to a stranger.â

Josh was taken aback by Amiraâs sudden outburst. She had always been so reserve and kind as a child. This was something heâd have to get used to. It was rather pleasant to witness, even if the content of her lecture was a painful reminder of how badly heâd failed her and her family. âYou donât understand, Amira. You were just a kid. Youâll probably never understand.â He responded to her sadly.
âI wonât understand? How dare you, you have no right to tell me what I do and do not understand. I understand a lot more than you give me credit for.â Her voice growing louder at the audacity. âMy father died when I was six years old, leaving me the Queen of my country, I lost my brother a few years after that so donât you dare tell me that I will not understand. I think it is you who does not understand.â She prodded a finger into his chest angrily before storming past him, trying to stop the tears welling in her eyes.

âI may have dislocated my shoulder but Iâll liveâ he nodded
âOh well, thatâs easily sorted isnât it?â

Dmitri bowed his head ever so slightly in gratitude, and took the nearest bottle of water. âI would recommend cheesecake.â He suggested in his Russian drawl.
âCheesecake itâll be then.â Amira grinned, pulling the dish out of the fridge. âDo you want some?â
dmitridolohov
A few minutes have passed and he sat there, patiently waiting, before clearing his throat. âHave you⊠made a decision yet?â Dmitri asked, his thick Russian accent showing through.
âOh sorry, I didnât realise you were waiting.â Amira said stepping back from the fridge. âIâm still not too sure what I want yet, you can go.â

âI found him therefore heâs mineâ he smirked as he looked up at the first
âOh heâs adorable! Cats are my favourite.â She grinned, reaching out to scratch behind the felines ears. âWhat are you going to call him?â

â No no I said take a GOOD. Picture â Take it again. My professor has to be thoroughly convinced that Iâm modeling in Quezon or Iâm screwed. â
âIâm sorry, Iâm not a photographer Iâm trying my best.â

âWell, Iâll teach you, and donât worry about your mother. She wonât find out.â Josh reassured the younger princess. He really didnât want to have to talk about his past experiences, it didnât matter. Why should he have to talk about it? âItâs a job, Amira. Whatâs there to enjoy.â
âThank you.â She nodded, at his comment she stopped in her tracks, crossing her arms across her chest and glaring at him. âAlright Josh. if you are acting like this because of what happened to Haris you need to stop. What happened was a terrible accident, but nothing anyone could have done would have saved him, not even you. No one blames you for it.â
