Sept. 28, 1993 goes down as one of great release dates for Hip Hop. Souls of Mischief “93 ‘Til Infinity”, Spice 1’s “187 He Wrote” and KRS-One’s “Return of the Boom Bap” touched down that day with Spice-1’s album being the most commercially successful. It’s safe to say all 3 of these projects became staples in the Hip Hop timeline and all of those included are still pillars in the culture. It’s worth noting all 3 were released through Jive Records (Jive had a solid stronghold on Hip Hip, R&B and dance in the 1980’s and 1990’s along with teen pop and boy bands during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s.
