Searching Techniques Through Google
How would you search for an exact word or phrase?
To search for the exact phrase using Google, the word should be entered with quotation marks. Utilizing a quotation, it tells Google explicitly to search for a particular term. If the quotation is not placed around the world, then Google will not give the most accurate result. Google will provide results that include the word but also other results that are not necessary for your search. For example, we were to enter the word plant seeds; we would get average results. The result will include both phrases plant and seeds, but this will also include pages to garden centers. If the word surrounds quotations, then pages to garden centers don't pop up.
2. How would you search for something on a specific site?
To search for something particular on a site, it's important to consider "site:" function, which allows the search of a specific website. The format of what needs to be inserted is Site: [Site URL]. An example would be https://bbc.com
3. How would you correctly search for a definition?
To correctly search for a definition, it is essential to type "Define" and then type the word that needs to be defined. For example, Define: flowers.
4. How would you search for a specific product available within a specific price range?
When searching for a particular product and its price range, one will need to type in the name of the product and its price range. For example phone cases $20..$100
5. How would you search for a specific filetype?
To search for a particular file from multiple files, one will need to type the name of the file, followed by the term "Filetype" and then: file formats. For example EID100 Mod 2 Filetype: Doc
6. How would you include or ignore words in your search?
The Plus and minus are used to either include or ignore words. The "+" is typed before the word that needs to be added—for example, +candy. The "-" is typed before the word that needs to be ignored. For example, -candy.
7. How would you find sites/pages similar to an existing one?
To find sites/pages similar to one that already exists, one has to type the word "Related" in front of the Site. For example, Related: https://amazon.com
8. How would you confirm the exact form of a quote even if you were missing some of the words?
If a word in a quote is unknown, it can be determined with an asterisk. The quote will be written just as is, and the place of a missing word will be taken by the asterisk. For example, "moments are * memories," and the result will be an example "moments are like memories."
9. How would you search for pages containing two connected words?
Some pages contain two connected words, and to search these pages, you have to type "+" in between the words—for example, water+ bottle.

To search a specific tag on a social media page, one needs to type "#" before a particular word. For example, #cupcakes
The importance of Social media in today's world and why brands need it
Everyone in their daily lives is using social media. Several individuals are choosing the internet when it comes to communicating with friends and family, sharing posts, education purposes, job applications, shopping for products, watching movies, listening to music, advertisements, business use etc. There are both advantages and disadvantages of interactivity through the use of social media. The benefits of interactivity are that it can increase sales for businesses as they can offer products based on present and previous searches. It's more affordable for companies to promote products as compared to traditional marketing. With social media, it's much easier to share posts with friends and family. Some of the disadvantages of interactivity through social media is that it can create misunderstandings in-between individuals, lack of physical meets, absence of emotional relationships etc (Harvey 2018). Interactivity is made possible due to the creation of web 2.0, which allows individuals to post unlimited quantities of multimedia content, which can be shared with several users.
Brand communities need social media so that individuals know more about their products and, in general, who they are. With the use of social media, brands can be distinguished from other competitor brands. Businesses can reach out to people all around the world and can target and interact with individuals. Industries can make use of social media to sponsor their products, for example by posting trailer videos, articles, poster boards online and more. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter are all examples of a social media site that allows marketing as it can be shared with others and can produce global groups (Normoyle 2019).
Overall social media is essential for companies as they can provide better accessibility when it comes to shopping for products due to the option of shopping online. Online shopping is an excellent way to encourage more buyers as some individuals might not be able to make it to stores.
