It seems I've started a little series of portraits of my model buddies. I am lucky to know people who are beautiful both inside and out, who lead exciting lives and believe in art, and who do not seem to find me creepy for drawing them (or at least they haven't said so). I've thought of making prints of these, but the cost would be a little higher than the ones I sell on society6, as I want the model depicted to have a portion of the profits. Freelancing is not easy, and I do not own their faces. 🎨 If I made prints of these, who would be interested in buying one, supporting both the artist and subject?

This is part of the planned inner album art for “Your Banner Strategy” by Devan Boomen, which I originally linked to in this post, which seems like a really long time ago. The cassette and downloads are still available through Devan’s bandcamp, but it’s all coming together a little slower than planned. Stay tuned for summer 2015 (More art![?] Pressed cassettes!) In the meantime, give him a listen. 

The inner album art needed to include some sort of homage to London, Ontario, which is where we’re both from, as Devan feels a connection to his hometown that maybe I no longer have. I was obviously extremely literal in my interpretation of London. I thought it was important to include the rail lines that run through the city, as it seems like every night, in any part of the city, one is lulled to sleep by endless freight trains. That is something I remember fondly.
