hellcheer having their first kiss and immediately not knowing what to do with themselves so they rush to their respective besties houses, chrissy to billy and eddie to steve. and billy and steve are already an established dynamic, they’ve been dating for like a year at this point, and they’ve both had to listen to chrissy and eddie pine over one another for months, have been comparing notes and trying to sneakily play matchmaker because oh my god when are these two going to seal the deal.
chrissy is pacing billy’s room, ticking every little way the kiss made her feel and fretting that eddie didn’t feel the same way. “he kissed you, chris. he’s head over fucking heels.” but she’s still worried, still convinced that everything is going to go wrong.
and eddie is losing it. smoking, pacing, hand gesturing all over the place. steve can hardly keep up, is trying his damnedest but eddie is talking a mile about how chrissy is lightyears out of his league and what if he’s just a joke to her, what if she’s already gossiping to her friends about the pathetic weirdo loser who follows her like a puppy dog. “i promise she’s not doing that. chrissy’s not like that, man,” steve assures half because he knows it’s true and half because he’s certain that chrissy is with billy right now.
the phone rings. it’s billy. “are you hearing this shit?”
“oh, i’m hearing it,” steve says. “loud and clear.”
“i’m taking chris over to the diner. get a bite, calm her nerves. think you can wrangle munson?” because, yeah, the only way this is getting resolved, the only way to get these two lovebirds to settle down and recognize that they’re in deep, is to forcefully chaperone them on a proper date.
“yeah,” steve sighs, because they’ve been trying to set this plan in motion forever and he’ll be relieved when it’s finally over and eddie can calm the fuck down. “yeah, i’ll get him there.”
