“Yeah, yeah, cool. I’m fuckin’ hangin’, mate.”
“What’s your name again... Fabian?” He mumbled tiredly, rolling over onto his back. “How the fuck did we end up here? I remember bare from last night.”

“Yeah, yeah, cool. I’m fuckin’ hangin’, mate.”
“What’s your name again... Fabian?” He mumbled tiredly, rolling over onto his back. “How the fuck did we end up here? I remember bare from last night.”
“Oh my, testy testy. And here I was being gracious and patient today.” Truly, her mood, though not usually the best, had been on the better side —- until he uttered the last name that wasn’t hers ( & would never be until she wanted it so ). “Your sleeping time is causing annoyance for others, Amos; if you’re so exhausted and snappish, go to your dorm.”
“Gracious and patient —- you?” He scoffed, reluctantly forcing himself to a rise. “Enough, I’m up.” On his feet, Amos still half drunkenly stumbled, near crashing into the somewhat blurry object on his left. “Oops,” he laughed, leaning his hand against the wall.
She huffed again, throwing her hair over her shoulder as the older boy spoke. “That you for the advice, but not everyone likes to be so crass. A n d that would almost never work outside of Hogwarts, SO —– I’m not going to be doing that anytime soon.”
“Actually, honey, threats and telling people to fuck off works in the outside world. Alternatively, so does throwing a brilliant punch —- but then, wouldn’t want to be crass, right?” Amos shook his head, “being polite gets no one anywhere.”
“Excuse you, I’m holding a drink here —– if you could stop pushing, that would be w o n d e r f u l.”
“First years giving you grief?” He asked, hair falling floppily over his eyes when he glanced up, “throw a fuck off in there somewhere next time, maybe even a subtle threat. Works brilliantly.”
“You’re completely right, he shouldn’t. I’ll keep my own s p e c u l a t i o n s to myself then. Or I could just start a horrible, fake tall tale & make sure to tell Skeeter about the illicit affairs of Amos Diggory. So juicy.” There was a dramatic flair in her voice, that held an equally playful tone. When he asked her, she gave him the same coy answer he decided to grace her with,“a woman shouldn’t kiss and tell, should she? But, let me ask you this,” a pause, “if I enjoy my time, is it really being wasted? No matter if I was studying, reading, … doing other things.”
“The illicit affairs of Amos Diggory?” He repeated, cocking a single brow, “you’ll have to fill me in on those juicy details, Dahlia, as regrettably, they seem to be missing from memory,” a truthful statement. Even if he had wanted to share the night’s events with someone, Amos himself was clueless as to how, or more specifically who he’d ended up in the dorm for. At her reply, the boy smirked. “I had no idea I’d meet my match hungover in the Hufflepuff girl dorms —- I might have come more prepared. Nicely dodged with the answer, by the way.” The emphasis on other things wasn’t nearly lost on Amos, and he rubbed at his jaw line in feigned consideration. “I’d say whether or not you enjoy the time isn’t the point —- it’s how much you enjoy it. Sure, I like some things, but other things; other things I like much more.”
“Maybe I will,” Cassius growled out, wrinkling his nose in disgust as he watched the other boy smoke. “Three seconds to put off that smoke, or I’ll fucking rip it out of your hand.”
“Go fuck yourself?” Amos took a last few drags and exhaled the smoke, before flicking the thing at the other boy’s feet. “There you go, dick.”
“Well, alright but you could get off of the floor? Bed and a couch are right there– ”
“That’s a lot of effort, love.”
Benji landed with a sigh, cheek resting against his chest allowing him to wrap his arm around her shoulders. “Apparently I have really bad judgement when it comes boys but it doesn’t seem like you’re doing much complaining – least right now. Besides you’re a good fuck, so its whatever.” She was just about to cuddle closer into his side but at the mention of Kiran she pushed herself up, curtain of dark curls falling to the side. “If you want to be jealous then you have to stop fucking around. And why does it matter if I had a good time chatting with him, I’m sure I wasn’t the first girl of the night, Am.”
“If I’m such a bad decision, no one is forcing you to keep me ‘round, yeah?” He rose an eyebrow at her next comment, “I am, then? A good fuck?” He shifted to curl a hand over her waist, but before he could Benji had shot up out of range. “What, you want a relationship? You want to be boyfriend and girlfriend? Does that mean you’ll stop starting fights with randoms if I asked? Do you even want to commit to me, Benj? Think about it. And it matters because I don’t have feelings for the people I fuck, I don’t care about them. Just another fuck, I’m certainly not sticking my neck out to date any of them. But Khan? You care about him. You like him. You dated him for three months. I know you, you think you’re saving him from getting hurt by ending it —- but how do you think all this running back and forth between us is gonna end up? I’m not up for playing games with you. I’m not trying to make you jealous, love, I just like sex.”
Amos rose, too, from the bed, and collected his shirt from the floor. He tugged it over his head and down his waist before propelling to a stand and shoving back loose strands of hair. Finally, he willed on his shoes and begun tying the laces, “it’s real simples, Benj, if you don’t complicate it. Everything is. If you keep fucking around with Khan and me, one day we’re going to have words —- or worse.” He stalked to the door, “so do us all a favour and figure out what the fuck you want before that. Laters. Cheers for the lovely night.” Amos slinked out of her dorm and away from sight, shutting the door behind him.
“I KNEW a drunk Amos Diggory managed to stumble in here last night. Now tell me, dear, did you just s t u m b l e into the wrong dorm or did one of my girls get to have what I imagine is the experience of a lifetime?”
Chuckles rose from his throat, eying Dahlia from his spot after rising to a stand. “A man shouldn’t kiss and tell, should he.” He pushed scruffy hair back and crossed his arms over his chest, leaning his side on the door frame. “And how did you busy yourself last night, then; surely someone as pretty as you didn’t waste away the entire time studying?”
“How about one more second, hmm?” Her smile was sickly sweet as she peered at her housemate on the floor. One leg crossed over the other, she swung her foot once, sighing as it dangled so near Amos’ face. C’mon, Amos, get your arse off the floor. You’re in my kicking range.”
“How about another hour if that’s how long I want?” Amos retorted sharply up at Bellatrix. “Get your foot the fuck out of my face, Lestrange. Playing cute works much better when you’re not fucking with my sleeping time.”
“Nah… two.”
“Nah. Ten, mate. Call it a deal, then?”
“You’re annoying, you know that right? And by get up I meant get out of my bed.” She sighed, attempting to push him to his side before plopping back – last night’s alcohol still pounding in her head. “Dick. If I knew you were always grumpy with hangovers, I wouldn’t ‘hang’ with you so much.”
Amos eyed Benji ( particularly the part of Benji between her lower back and thighs ) as she stalked about the room, before finally falling into the bed by his side. “Apparently you’re into that, then —- annoying, considering you haven’t dropped me yet,” he shrugged an arm before stretching it out to wrap around her shoulder. “I don’t know how you can be surprised by this, it’s not like it’s been different any other time. I’m not, nor have I ever claimed to be, a nice guy, Benj. Though, apparently you’re also not interested in nice guys at all. I saw you talking to Khan last night. Have a good time chatting?”

“I gave you one more minute that turned into an hour, now you have to wake up. I don’t feel like having detention just because you won’t get up.”
“Benji, with all due respect; if you haven’t realised I’m neither actually getting up, nor attending class today, you’re rather daft. Call it a rest day, whatever the fuck. I don’t care. So either stop complaining and stay, or go by yourself.”
“Why the fuck would anyone smoke in the middle of the hallway? That’s bloody idiotic. And against the rule, I’m pretty sure.”
“Thought everyone else was in class, apparently not. But look, mate, if you’ve really got a problem, why don’t you come take it out of my hand, yeah? Until then, I’d like to finish a few drags without a nosy git and his annoying fucking voice, cheers.”
Studying, in the words of Harlan Tarver, was an act for those with no greater priorities and an inferior memory — something he himself often tiptoed around until the evening before a test. On such nights he set foot towards the library long after the sun had gone down, a single book in hand, with the intent to put in an hour at most, if only to reassure himself of the delusion that all he needed to know was already in the back of his mind. Typically, he arrived to find the tables empty, leaving he and his farce alone — but not tonight. Tonight countless others seemed to have the same idea as he, leaving Harlan to slip into a chair across from another whose nose was buried deep in a book. “I’m not interrupting anything, am I? I promise, you won’t even know I’m here.”
Amos didn’t study, not anymore. A few years ago he’d been strict with himself in terms of his education, and with a possibly extensive amount of studying, had achieved commendable grades. Lucky he had, because nowadays he was less inclined to try, and more likely to barely coast off all the knowledge he’d packed into his mind up until fourth year. But he did like to read. “No worries, mate,” he replied cooly, leering at Harlan over the book between his hands. “Bit late to start your study now, don’t you think, though? Good luck with that.”
Is there no way out of the mind?
