I am reminded today of a lecture I had from a great professor at SFU, many years ago. It was a general science class, we were discussing PROGRESS.
What it means, how it works, what it looks like.
If you look at progress in science, it is not a straight line, not linear.
One achievement does not necessarily lead to the next. There are bumps along the way, sideways moves, unexpected outcomes, and setbacks.
It is also an iterative process, where we look back, reflect on the past, the decision and actions, to see what can be done better.
The same can be said for the human condition and our slow winding journey to become more evolved. To be better. To progress.
Trump winning the American election for president is one of these sideways, unexpected setbacks.
This is what I am hanging on to today.
