Heather Heyer’s mom gives heartbreaking yet stirring funeral speech
“Find what’s wrong. Don’t ignore it, don’t look the other way, you make a point to look at it and say to yourself, ‘What can I do to make a difference?’ And that’s how you’re going to make my child’s death worthwhile. I’d rather have my child, but by golly, if I gotta give her up, we’re going to make it count.”
Little Women, 1994 (dir. Gillian Armstrong)
a good way for goyim to help combat antisemitism right now would be to remind those who exclude jewish people from the charlottesville conversation that jewish people are being explicitly targeted – in chants, in statements, in the adoption of nazi ideology.
please reblog if you’re not jewish.
Abortion: We're talking about it.
Hey all!! I have started working for the TN stories project and its mission--to eradicate abortion stigma--is one that is very near and dear to my heart. Please take a look at these stories, share them, and if you live in TN and have had an abortion, consider sharing your story! Storytelling is such a powerful way to help others understand why planned parenthood and access to abortion are so critical to so many women around the country. Abortion is not just an abstract concept to fight over for sport, its something that real, breathing, living, loving women go through and it’s crucial to magnify their voices. *feminist hugs*
The so-called “pro-life” movement’s philosophy.
One of the best political cartoons that I’ve seen.
You know what pisses me off about this? Really, REALLY pisses me off? That’s George (H.W.) Bush holding that umbrella. He was president 1981-1989. Do you get that?
It means that the right have not budged an inch on their ridiculous pro-foetus, anti-actual-persons position in THIRTY GODDAMN YEARS. We should not still be having this argument! Thirty year old political cartoons should be bafflingly opaque, not crystal clear!
^ Reblogging again for that comment.
hey y’all, i’m transgender, and as much as i appreciate the ‘i stand with you’ thing that’s being passed around, if you want to make a difference, i’d way rather y’all donate 5 bucks to the transgender law center, which provides resources to make advances for transgender policies and laws. not to be bitter, while the sentiment of reblogging a flag is appreciated, it does end up feeling hollow.
the military spends more on viagra than on transgender soldiers’ medical expenses
Green party MPs toss confetti across chamber and gay couples kiss in gallery, while Angela Merkel votes no despite permitting bill
Los gehts Deutschland!!
The Muslim community is mourning the passing of Nabra, a 17 year old young woman from Sterling, VA. Nabra was beaten to death with a baseball bat and left in a pond after going missing while walking to a mosque with her friends. Hate crime against Muslim Americans is at its highest point with more than 67% increase since 2016. Nabra is another example of the escalating violence towards Muslims Americans. Activists gathered at Union Square to hold a vigil for Nabra and her family and to stand against violence against Muslim Americans.
Rest in Power. We are heartbroken.
you know how much pressure there is on girls to be good at every video game they play, because if they fuck up once there’s going to be a heck of a lot of people saying how girls suck and how they shouldn’t play video games
Anyone else sick of people trashing successful black women and just accusing women in general who have media presence of being ‘attention-seeking’?
My absolute favourite though is people writing comments like, ‘Who gives a fuck? There are more important things in the world!’ on an article from an ENTERTAINMENT NEWS Facebook page.
But most importantly:
Beyonce shared something from her private life in order to celebrate black motherhood because it was something us white people had attempted to steal from them. It makes me so angry to see people especially white women react like this like, “ Oh God, we all give birth special snowflake!!”
NO. JUST NO.
White people overly sexualised black women while simultaneously using sexual violence to oppress them. They also purposely sterilised them as a form of ‘discreet’ genocide, all to ‘purify’ the white race and to further establish supremacy over black people.
White people also purposely broke black families apart by causing socio-economical hardships for them and using prisons as a form of slave labour by disproportionately incarcerating black men ergo removing the father figure for a lot of families.
The really sick part is that back when slavery was legal, the concept of the family household was all they had in terms of having a normal life. So, of course, us white people had subsequently tried to destroy that too.
For reference, read ‘Women, Class & Race’ by Angela Y. Davis. She is an amazing Black Activist.
This is why people’s shitty comments on the news of Beyonce’s pregnancy, her 2017 Grammy Awards performance and her birth anger me so much. She was not just doing it for herself, she was also doing it for Black women everywhere.
People can fuck off with their racist and misogynistic bullshit.
To Beyonce:
