“Romance is what you make it,” Graham said replied.  And right now?  This was the most romantic.  Jeanne’s fingers were warm and Graham could barely make out the figures she was making, but he didn’t mind.  Her touch was enough to keep him happy.  It was hard to believe that he would get the chance to have this intimacy with anyone, especially someone as amazing as Jeanne.  He would do anything to keep her with him.

Graham let out a soft groan as Jeanne’s warmth left his side.  He turned his head to get a better view of her as she stood up.  Everything about this woman drove him mad with lust.  Even if Jeanne hadn’t explained that she was the Sin of Lust, Graham was certain that he would feel the same.  The seduction that came with a strong, powerful woman was not one that Graham could win against.  His lips matched her smirk.

“Oh, please,” Graham teased.  He rolled his eyes and said, “It’s not my fault, Jeanne.  It just needed to come off.  Especially at that moment, if you recall.”  Nights with Jeanne started to become a habit that Graham couldn’t break out of.  Not that he wanted to.

Romance - that word had held many meanings and with each partner, it was different.  With Graham, this was something that she could get used to.

“Well,” Jeanne said as she turned to face the man.  The blanket that wrapped around her slipped off, slowly revealing her entirety to Graham as she wore only the smile on her lips.  Those lips pulled into a smirk as she eyed him slowly.  “You’ll get a chance to break that habit, Graham.  But,” she shook her head and said, “What if I don’t want you to?”

After her question, she headed to the door of the room, heading into the bathroom.  Her walk was slow, deliberate - one foot after the other, hips swayed from side to side as she took her time.  As she approached the door, her fingers wrapped around the doorknob before she turned around to look at Graham once more before she suggested, “Let’s a shower before we go out, Graham.  We both need to look a little more presentable.”

Today was for them.  The next upcoming days were going to change things.  Jeanne felt the nervousness that came from the uncertainty of the future but as long as she had Graham, she found that she could get through it. { END }

“That’s the point,” Graham assured Jeanne.  He shifted where he lay so she could adjust into a comfortable position;  his bed had started to memorize the shape of her against him.  “Right, today we’ll as lovers do,” he smirked as he closed his eyes.  It wasn’t a coincidence that they met, he knew this but whatever was happening between them, he would gladly accept it.

As a member of the experimented children in Ceres Centropolis, Graham wasn’t a stranger to the violence that came upon unsuspecting people.  However, from what he knew, Jackson Knight was not an unsuspecting person.  He wasn’t ignorant enough to just blindly believe the words that Jeanne said - though, if he was honest, it was very difficult not to believe everything that came out of her mouth;  persuasion seemed to be one of her strongest abilities.  Jackson Knight was not the philanthropic person he pretended to be.  If everything that Jeanne shared about her imprisonment was true, Jackson Knight was a monster that needed to be stopped.  Especially for the woman beside him.  Revenge was a dish he needed to serve.

“Ripping his eye out seems like the most romantic gift for Valentine’s day,” Graham teased.  It was a tall order, a very tall one and one that really crossed into illegal, but …it wasn’t one that he wanted fail at doing.  “You know, most girls ask for flowers or chocolates,” Graham joked and then sighed, “But you never fail to surpass expectations.”  He smiled, “Hey, let’s actually go out for today.  Like the bedroom.  Though, I’m not going to say no if we decide to stick to our routine and order in.”

Her weaknesses were only as weak as she allowed them to be.  Graham was not a weakness.  If anything, Jeanne had finally resigned to the fact he was a strength.  Not only was he formidable, intelligent and a man who built himself up from nothing - the lust he had for Jeanne kept her satiated enough until they would feel that desperate desire for each other again.  Monogamy had never been Jeanne's forte, but recently, that was what she started to favor.

"And people say that romance is dead, Graham," Jeanne said lightly as she nuzzled against him.  Her fingers brushed against his bare chest, tracing small shapes before she set her hand down.  If only time was much kinder to those like herself.  Maybe, maybe she could change it.  She wasn't certain but she did know that this was something she could let herself enjoy.  She closed her eyes, letting out soft breathes as she felt comfort envelope her entirety.  He didn't question her reasons, just accepted them.  She hoped it would last much longer than she expected.  A soft chuckle came from her before she opened her eyes.

"Well, I suppose ...," Jeanne said looking up at him, "I could wear that dress you happen to like so much.  Possibly."  She slowly got up, pulling the blanket against her chest before she smirked, "Just don't wrinkle it when it take off again next time."

“That was blunt, but I’m not upset. I just have certain rules that I like to follow.” She didn’t want to completely sever her ties within Society. If she just went and eliminated her fiance, she knew that she’d meet the criticisms of the other members. Ulrik was the founder of Ceres and one of the original members of Society. “His cursed blood might just hurt a little if he lets it happen.” She shrugged. “Perfect. I’ll take that as a sign that you won’t need any help, but just in case, I’ll wake someone up just for you.” She grinned. “Avarice has been sleeping for too long, trapped, and that isn’t too fun. Anyways… I don’t want to keep you, but before I leave, I suppose I should properly introduce myself…” Black veins crawled up her neck and widened until scales erupted from her skin. She halted the transformation. “I am the Leviathan… I know I shouldn’t make any assumptions, but if you can, please let me know when Envy shows up.”

"Everyone follows their own rules," Jeanne said without much hesitation.  The Sin of Lust continued to play her own game, one where the rules had shifted constantly;  at some point, her initial rules have all been broken and she was paying the consequences for it.  However, there were recent personal developments and those have changed how she played her current game.  Jeanne smirked and threw it back to Julienne, "If you need help dealing with your fiancee, let a girl know.  I specialize in that, after all."  Though, engagements and marriage was a subject that Jeanne would rather not discuss.  Maybe.  "Avarice is trapped because Pride decided to put them in someone without permission," Jeanne said.  Her own vessel had accepted the offer she made and Lust gained full control;  it was a win-win situation on her end.  "But Pride will get what's coming to him."  As the Leviathan showed her true nature, Jeanne's lips played out a smirk.  Her eyes brightened into that particular shade of electric blue as she nodded, "Of course, how could I deny the request of The Leviathan?"  Though, if she was honest, Jeanne wasn't sure where Envy had gotten off to.

Parker didn’t think too hard on what the merchandise could mean for heroes. He just knew that he thought that they were cool and he wanted to support the people he looked up to. He could run around like Bolt anymore, but the action figures were just awesome to see. “Huh?” He turned to face Jeanne. “Oh, yeah, Hyperion’s super awesome. I haven’t figured how how he’s able to fly and stuff or keep his hood on, but he’s a good hero.” He grinned before nodding. He wanted to get Billie something that she would like and she did run a super powered website with Anh. “Yeah, she really likes the heroes because they bring a lot of hope and if they make her feel happy, I thought… why not, right?” He knew which hero she really liked, but he couldn’t get an action figure of Bolt to give to her. He was Bolt and if he did that, he would probably seem weird  and full of himself. “I think she likes the younger heroes…? I’m… not really sure. I was just looking for someone exciting.”

The beginnings of romance were always so entertaining to see, so pure that even the Sin of Lust wasn't in a position to sully it.  Jeanne nodded in agreement, "Hyperion's impressive, Arsenal is also one of my favorites.  Obsidian Fury."  She let out a quiet laugh as she remembered, "If you're looking for not-official heroes but he might as well be, everyone's favorite jester, The Huntsman."  A majority of those names had swept through The Gamble and she had the pleasure of serving them drinks before the raid happened.  She was certain something was bound to happen - one of the things she admired about the people at the bar was that they were all men of action.  Like everyone else, however, she would have to wait and see.

"Younger heroes?" Jeanne asked as she paced down the aisle, stopping every so often to look at the figures and merchandise.  She turned to face him and said, "Someone like Bolt?"  Jeanne shrugged, "It's a shame we don't have more younger heroes taking up the fight like he did."  Her eyes looked at him suspiciously but she shook her head and smiled.  "I'm sure she'll like whoever you give her."

This woman was going to be the death of him.

“You’re right,” he grinned, “I’m going to need to work on that wind-up before we get to a grand slam, Jeanne.”  The first time he met her, he hadn’t expected this.  All he knew was that he couldn’t take his eyes off of her and he didn’t want her attention on him to ever waver.  “We’ll work on it.”

This wasn’t a regular job.  Graham was accustomed to work that circumnavigated around the common ideas of work;  he was quick to shuffle through the challenges of work under the table.  He did, after all, run jobs on the side for Indigo Vale without ever being caught.  Discretion was something that Graham was a master at.  However, even he knew the difficulty of this request.  He turned back, laying his head on the pillow as he looked up.  With his eyes shut, he let out a sigh.  This was going to be a challenge.

“Hey,” he opened his eyes as he felt her touch, “Your requests are my pleasure to do, Jeanne.”  It never felt like a bother, especially when she would ask him.  He looked at her, with determination, “I will come back.  I will always come back to you.”  At least, he wanted to make sure that he did.  “How soon do you need this done?”

There were few men that Jeanne could enjoy and this moment, Graham was at the very top of that list.  Her reply didn't come out quickly.  The woman took her time as her eyes took in the man in front of her and she nodded, "We'll spend a long time working on it, Graham.  I don't intend to stop."  A flicker of surprise flashed in her eyes for a moment.  Lust should not be mistaken for that forbidden four letter word.  That was the reason for her imprisonment the first time.

His voice brought her away from the sullied thoughts and returned her attention to where they were.  There were unfortunate circumstances that came with being in a human vessel but moments like this, emotions that were attached to it, were things that she could forgive humanity for.  Jeanne sighed, letting her breathing relax as she took her place beside him.  She rest her head on his chest, shifting until she felt comfortable against his skin.

"You know, Graham," she started quietly, "You're going to spoil me with all of these promises."  Though, she didn't mind.  She would wait for him to come back to her.  When did she need this done?  She closed her eyes as she tried to think of the deadline.  Revenge never had a deadline, but this was something that would have been so pleasing to see as soon as possible.  "Not today," she decided, "Today, we'll enjoy ourselves.  But before the new month starts, I would like his eye ripped out, Graham."

Jack didn’t care much for Ceres Centropolis, he didn’t feel bad about that. He missed his homeland, with the green and white cliffs looming over the sea, the cool misty mornings and the people. But that was not his home anymore. The only good thing he could say about Ceres was the fact that they were near a beach. While the city had grown and expanded and now had a line of wealthy houses along said beach, Jack had gotten there first. With a little cottage near a public beach, he was able to spend his free time either walking the beach, or in the water. Most mornings he spent somewhere at the bottom of the ocean floor, far out of reach of people and noise. It was more peaceful than anything above the surface, and the best part of most das, for him. It was one of those mornings, not long after the sun had begun to make it’s slow ascent into the sky, that he came walking out of the ocean to find someone already on the beach. 

Water streaming off of him as he slowly left the waves behind. It was cold, but he had become impervious to that around the time he left his humanity behind like an old skin. Now it was only refreshing. Gradually, water dripped off his clothes and left him dry as his feet left wet sand behind. This was what he got for living so close to a public area. There was always the chance of someone seeing moments like these. “Nothing quite like a morning swim.” He said, as if it wasn’t obvious that he hadn’t been swimming at all.

Even a few short hours away from the city often reminded Jeanne of why she loved the city life to begin with.  The Sin of Lust stood at the edge of sand. Her hands were placed in the pockets of her leather jacket, shielding them from the frigid winter air and the lick of the water's weather.  Just as she was ready to turn away from the ocean, she caught sight of the being that emerge from the water.  Her expression went flat as he seemingly tried to pass it off as a morning swim.

"I'm impressed that you think anyone would buy that," Jeanne said as her eyes rolled to the side.  She sighed, "You're by Ceres Centropolis, covering up your inhumanity isn't as necessary as you would expect."

The Sin of Lust looked over at him.  Beings beyond humanity always had a different feel to them than those who were.  There were times when it was difficult to discern them, especially in Ceres Centropolis, but they had a different signature to them.  She shook her head and began to head off.  The beach may have been pleasant but life had never been about pleasantries.

"If you don't want people to see your abilities," Jeanne advised, "You shouldn't do that in a public place."

“What makes a hero?”

The question wasn’t aimed at anyone in particular but it was one that had buried itself into the back of Brett’s mind.  It constantly moved around in the back of his mind as the answers never stayed consistent.  The man shoved his hands into his jacket pockets.  It was the rare occassion where he hadn’t taken it upon himself to patrol.  However, even with the initial idea to take the night off, Brett found himself wandering the city until he came to a halt at the street vendor at the park.  The vendor had been known to make some of the best hot drinks in the city;  the sweet aroma of the drinks had been enough to draw Brett in, even with his aimless wandering.

As he shuffled into the back of the line, his brows furrowed for a moment before he once more asked again, “What makes a hero?”

With the continuous shuffling of the city, it was easy to get lost in the constant changes.  The appearance of SHOT in the area seemed to make things worse.  Especially when the Deputy Director of that organization was bound to something that even Jeanne wasn't clear on.  Not entirely.  She wandered the streets, casually observing the air of the city and anticipating the movements of certain people.  The question posed caught her by surprise.  Jeanne looked over to the man - he didn't have the same signature as humans did.  It wouldn't be a surprise if he wasn't human.  This was Ceres Centropolis, after all.

"What makes a hero?" Jeanne repeated the question, posing it to herself as she looked upward.  The Sin of Lust tapped the bottom of her chin a few times as she hummed in thought.  "Someone who can put people at ease during times of crisis," she said, "I think a hero is someone who can stand up during times of trouble and inspire everyone to still have hope."

It was cold. Very cold. The last couple times  he felt this cold was when he was lying on the ground during an unpleasant situation and then when he read his own obituary. It twisted his stomach a little to think that apart from his heroics, his next achievement was dying so young while still a good guy. He didn’t think he was bitter, but the whole process of recovery wasn’t quite complete yet. He blew some warm air into his hands and rubbed them together. If he wasn’t trying to get some exclusive merchandise, he wouldn’t have been standing outside in the cold. He looked up at the comic book shop’s sign and sighed. This was the only place that sold official hero created merch. “Maybe I should get something for Rory and Billie…” He turned to the person behind him. “So which Villain or Hero are you buying from? I know everything’s Valentine’s day related, but it should be cool still.”

There were heroes and there were villains - Jeanne mused over the fact that people would sell goods for both heroes and villains together.  She strutted through the aisle of the comic book shop, eyeing things carefully.  As much as fans liked their heroes, having things like this set out was a danger to them - too much information on heroes was spread out and so easily attainable.  "How amusing," she muttered as she slowed to a halt.  She looked over to the younger man who asked a question.  "I haven't quite decided," Jeanne said, "Though, I am partial to Hyperion.  I do enjoy my heroes who continue to fight in the face of danger."  Her lips formed a smile as she looked at him, "So, you're going for a heroic Valentine's day present?"  She laughed as she took the place beside him instead of behind him.  Her eyes peered forward, looking to the left and right before she asked, "What kind of hero does your Valentine like?"

This was a dangerous game and right now, they were the only two players on the board.  The caution that Graham normally applied in these situations had all but been thrown out. 

“I like first,” he said after she drew away.  The warmth of her taste still lingered on his lips as he once against said, “I really like first, Jeanne.  We should do first again.”  Despite that, he knew that time would permit him to have her again later.  Desires could be subdued when he knew the importance of what they were about to discuss.  Jeanne had always mentioned getting revenge against whoever had imprisoned her.  Recently, she’d trusted him enough to reveal her true nature and that trust was not something that Graham would let go away.

“I’ll do it,” Graham said.  He looked over to her, “You’re the Queen and I’ll be your Knight, Jeanne.”  The gravity of what she was asking him to do had slowly started to sink in.  He nodded, accepting this new goal.  “Let me work out some details before I jump in.  I need to make sure I can come back to you.”

"First?" Jeanne said as she rose an eyebrow, "First is fine, but I preferred the Grand Slam."  Her lips curled into a teasing smile as she looked at the man.  Gently, she bit her bottom lip as she rose her eyebrow with suggestion.  "We'll what you pitch after we finish our discussion, Graham."

The committment he had to her was not something she could have calculated;  the effect his committment had on her was definitely something that Jeanne could never have anticipated.  In her sordid history, the Sin of Lust had seen the wickedness of men and the darkness that came with their actions.  Yet, this was nothing like what she had experienced.  Jeanne tried to heed caution for all good things come to an end, but couldn't it last just a moment longer?  Couldn't it continue more?  Jeanne sat up in the bed, looking down at the man as he spoke.  She smiled at his promise.

"It's a lot to ask, Graham," Jeanne said as she brought her hand to his cheek.  Gently, she brushed her thumb against it, caressing it softly as she sigh.  "I need you to come back to me.  As much as I want you to finish the job, I would rather you come back to me," she said but realized her own feelings through her words.  "Just promise me, you'll come back."

“I’m having someone dealing with a half god who happens to be related to Aries.” She was talking about her current fiance and she wanted him to know that she was still a snake capable of swallowing an entire world. “Perfect, I was hoping that I’d drum up something exciting for you. I knew that I was talking to the right person.” She was just lucky, but ancient beings didn’t normally enjoy being wrong. “I like it when people don’t ask too many questions, but if you could hand me the stone after you’re done with him then it won’t be long until we see some real fun.” Julienne reached up to rub her neck as something seemed to slither underneath her skin. She was getting excited. “Let me know if you need any assistance. I know Pride can be a tricky thing to destroy.”

“The half-god related to Aries,” Jeanne replied with suspicion in her voice.  She looked over to the woman, “I am surprised that you’re not dealing with it on your own, if I’m being blunt.”  Though, Jeanne could understand the need to keep the distance from those particular actions.  She was in the same position;  her hands couldn’t be sullied with the blood of her ‘brother’.  She sighed as she took a step back, “It won’t take too long to take the stone but the effects that occur after its removal will be quite pleasing.”  Jeanne gave the woman a gentle smile before she said, “I know how to deal with Pride this time around.”  She paused, “I won’t be the one trapped this time.”

There was beauty among the chaos - that was the only way to explain it, honestly. 

Graham might have been awake, but he kept his eyes closed.  He could feel her voice as it wavered through the air - the air never was good at keeping secrets.  “Mhmm,” Graham groaned as he turned over in the bed to face his woman.  Slowly, opened his eyes, “I wanted to sleep more, but you always manage to drive a hard bargain, Jeanne.  You honestly do.”  He turned away from her as he yawned, stretching his arms upward and then shifting into a more comfortable position to speak to her.  He knew this must have been related to her unspoken plan - one he didn’t know of, but one that he was more than willing to help her with no matter what it was.  Blindly following her didn’t seem like a bad idea to him.

“Alright,” he grinned at her, “You’ve got my attention.  What is it that you want to discuss?  Seems very important.”

Attachments were a weakness.  At least, that was her original thought to this situation but the longer she spent with Graham, the more she realized how much of a lie that was.  Most of the beliefs she held fast to in the past had started to give way to newer ones;  many of which she was starting to share with this man.  Surprisingly, enough.

“Fine,” she said, letting a momentary softness overtake her as her lips curled into a smile.  She watched him as he stretched, admiring the man she had chosen to lay with.  Her fingers brushed against her lips as she looked on at him with more adoration than she expected to show.  Her smile widened as he turned to face her.  “Yes, we should discuss, but first,” Jeanne said as she rest her hand against his cheek.  Gently, her thumb brushed against his cheek before she leaned in for a gentle kiss.  “That’s first,” she said as she drew away.  She took a breath, sighing as she closed her eyes.  

“I need your help,” she said, “The man known as Jackson Knight.  He has something that I need.  I know it’s a lot to ask, especially since it’s not your battle, but mine.”

When she first arrived in Ceres Centropolis, Jeanne had a place to stay and yet, she rarely stayed there.  The corners of her lips tugged into a quiet smile as she thought about how often she was at Graham’s place.  It seemed that her initial plans were also skewed in a way that was unpredictable to her but at the same time, she was pleased that they went astray.  Especially in these quiet, early morning hours where even the city fell into the quiet slumber.  With her cheek resting against her palm, she looked over to her partner, admiring him for a moment before she decided to wake him.

“Graham,” her voice was a quiet whisper as she moved her hand against his cheek.  The Sin of Lust was never supposed to feel this, it was never meant for her and unfortunately, her human vessel made her feel those emotions so strongly.  “Graham, I need to discuss something with you,” she said, “It’s something ...it’s something that I need your help with.”

“I’d be worried if you didn’t have a reason.” She commented with an airiness that could match a trophy wife’s mind. Her words weren’t meant to be deep or mindful, but ancient beings could say what they want and their age, at times, gave them the impression insightful, wise creatures. Whether that was true or not still needed to be proven. The Leviathan didn’t believe in it. Anyone could be stupid if caught in the wrong moment. “I’m racing the Elementalists and the Horsemen. Anyone really who wants to take Atlantis from us… What they don’t know is the way to actually open the city. Before I accept the help, I’ll tell you, with honesty, that the process will need the blood of war and the philosopher’s stone.” She knew of two men who could give her what they would need, Ulrik and Jackson Knight. “Surely, you understand the difficulty of obtaining these things.” They were going to need to hunt the Founder of Ceres and the Sin of Pride. 

Ancient rituals were troublesome, too troublesome especially with their current circumstances.  Jeanne peered over to the Leviathan, cautiously taking in the woman and her current state.  “The blood of war and the philosopher’s stone, huh?” Jeanne said as she tilted her head upward with curiosity.  The mention of the philosopher’s stone made her lips curl into that sadistically expected smile from Lust.  “I can get the philosopher’s stone,” she decided as her eyes sharpened with a lust drenched in blood.  There was a quiet chuckle built up in throat, releasing it as she let her smile widen.  “Pride will feel my revenge,” Jeanne explained, “I don’t care about the details or what comes afterward.  My dear brother caused too much suffering on my end.”  The issue with revenge is that it blinds even those who are level headed.  Even those who were the embodiment of the Sins couldn’t stray from such a hold.

“You’re not that old. Why are you so jaded?” Julienne gently shook her head at Jeanne. “Humans can change if you give them a chance to…” She chuckled. She made money off of how predictable they could be and even when they surprised her, she was still able to bounce back with the amount of resources she had access to. “I love people, but when they get too comfortable, they stop evolving and growing. No one becomes better or more entertaining. The Gods have stopped paying attention, so that means that they won’t send something to change humanity, so we should help the process. Or rather, the Atlantians. Blood will be spilled in any case…” Julienne smiled widely. “If those Four have gone to the trouble of unearthing it, it won’t be long until they unlock its secrets. Now, it’s a race.” 

Jaded - love and lust never failed be enveloped in the green-eyed monster, letting it simmer and fester within her heart until she felt the hatred of the very Sin she embodied.  "Reasons," was all she replied to Julienne with.  She didn't need to give her any further explanation;  Julienne seemed to make her own assumptions when necessary.  Jeanne stayed quiet, listening to Julienne's observations of the inhabitants on the planet.  Her fingers casually reached for the strands of her own hair, twirling them as the other spoke about needing to change humanity and push them and whatever process she wanted to do.  Jeanne's expression turned to boredom as she said, "You're racing against The Horsemen?"  She laughed, "Good luck."  Though, this proved to be a different opportunity at hand.  She pressed her lips together and nodded slowly.  "I've had a change of heart," she decided, "I'll help you."

She didn’t care about figuring out just what it was she was speaking to, but she would welcome them to join her none the less. “Panics are always entertaining.” She typically smiled through difficult moments. “I don’t think SHOT is capable unless we convince them to sacrifice and spill their own blood. I’ve already started on some of them, but there’s not enough to turn the waters red.” She looked up at Jeanne and laughed with her. “Well, we’ll never know if we don’t do it. I don’t know how many of them are still alive, but their forgotten magics will be hard to deal with.” She threw out a guess and an assumption, “You remember how terrifying they were, don’t you?”

"Hardly entertaining," Jeanne replied with hints of boredom attached to every syllable.  "The results are always the same.  Different locations, different times," she continued as her eyes moved over to Julienne, "But humanity's reactions are always so dependable."  The monotony of repetition was not something she wanted to fall victim to.  Not this time around.  She'd lived repetitive lives so much so that she could tell what would have happened to her if she kept the same motivations.  Her eyes lifted, focusing on the woman before she shook her head, "If you already know of the havoc they've wrought before, why bother giving them a chance?"  Jeanne shook her head, "Even if there are countless treasures in the city, that's not enough to payment for the amount of blood that will be spilled."  Her expression darkened, twisted in unfortunate remembrance of the crimes she had paid for in Atlantis.

The moonlight was the most calming to the teenager - it never failed to ease his mind and yet, this hour was not calm at all.  Her warning caught him by surprise.  His eyes flickered upward, looking at her for a moment before he said, “Not everyone is lucky enough to go home.”  There were traces of a frown that came up but he shook it off.  “I don’t want people to carry my thoughts.  They’re heavy,” Charlie admitted.

The woman’s entire demeanor was strange.  The outline of danger echoed in her words and her actions.  The softness in her voice was haunting but Charlie wouldn’t let himself believe it.  He cleared his throat at her warning.  “I’ll be fine,” Charlie reassured her.  He wasn’t some child that walked around the city.  The teenager was the Silver Ranger in his timeline - he was well acquainted with what the city would bring to them when it needed.  “Yeah …,” he frowned at the mention of The Gamble being shut down.  “I think The Gamble will return,” he admitted, “I don’t think anyone could handle it going down for long.”

Those warnings were annoying.  Charlie frowned.  “Yeah,” Charlie said as he looked at her, “I’ve got more things to think about before I go home.”  He smirked, “You can head on to your home if you want.”  Her warning about the fleeting silence made him frown as he looked at her.  Something was coming.  He could almost feel its tension through the air.  SHOT was rummaging through the city, after all.

"Home isn't always a place," Jeanne responded to the boy's frown with a smile.  The traces of steps that she took to get to where she was today had never brimmed with sunshine the entire way;  though she could feel the sadness in the boy's thoughts, she knew that the hope of sunshine after the rain could carry him through.  The woman hated giving advice.  She always thought that people could come to their conclusions on their own, but she knew the feeling that came with those thoughts.  "You won't feel the weight of the heaviness if you stop keeping it to yourself," Jeanne replied to him.  She let out a soft scoff, "It takes while to understand that but when you do, your thoughts won't weigh  you down."

Bravado was commendable, but also stupid.  Jeanne looked over at the boy before she pressed her lips into a flat line - there were words she wanted to say but his insistance made it clear that he wasn't going to heed her caution.  "Uh-huh," she said with hesitant agreement.  Her eyebrow raised as he spoke of The Gamble.  Anyone who didn't look old enough to drink that spoke of The Gamble was definitely someone she placed on her suspect list.  "Of course not, The Gamble is a staple in the city," Jeanne said, "One of the best watering holes in the city, if I do say so myself."  Her hair swayed as she tilted her head to the side, "Why do you seem so certain about The Gamble?"

Jeanne had turned to leave the boy to his thoughts but just as she turned, she heard it.  The leaves betrayed the silent movement of the people surrounding them.  "Tch," Jeanne frowned as she turned back to face Charlie, "You keep insisting that you can handle yourself.  We're surrounded."  She said, looking at the boy, "Looks like you get to prove yourself tonight."  Just as she finished her statement, her eyes moved to the left.  She was not a violent person.  It wasn't her initial reaction, but if these people jumped at the idea, she would respond accordingly.

One of the many things that Hunter failed to realized upon embarking through a masked vigilante fight was how little information he was able to put on his resume.  It wasn’t that Hunter needed a job - despite what the population believed a few months back, he was never destitute.  However, as he sat down, quietly chewing on his straw as he blew bubbles in his drink, he realized, “Wow, shit.  I’ve never written a resume since I was …eighteen.  That’s like,” he looked up, counting the years in his mind, “That’s like, eighteen years ago.  Damn.”

“Not everyone needs a resume to get hired,” Jeanne replied to Hunter.  She eyed him, carefully analyzing him before she decided that it would have been easy for the man to get a job - he checked off all of the boxes most companies had.  All that needed to be worked on was the timing of his words.  “I mean, even now, you can still build a resume with whatever skill you have.”  She should have offered to help, but Jeanne was past writing resumes.  “I’m surprised you’re looking to write a resume.”
