Ink drawing (art in general) is a lot like dating. You put a lot of time and energy into a piece (read: relationship), and you tend to start off feeling excited, optimistic, full of hope. Sometimes you end up with something fantastic, but more often than not, by the time it's over--you're anywhere from mildly disappointed to overcome with self-loathing and covered in ice cream stains. The real bitch of the thing is that the way it starts out is rarely indicative of much. A smooth start can still mean crashing and burning. A rocky start doesn't mean you won't turn it into something beautiful and striking.
