A lovely Nomada from Kyrgyzstan. We don't know the species name. Given that Nomada is a group filled with taxonomic trickiness, have colors that appear to shape shift across individuals (see those light colored markings? (often called maculations if you want to be scientifically fancy) those, in some species, can go from none to as extensive as you see them, others never vary), that this specimen is from a part of the world poorly inspected by those who would name bees, and the general lack of funding for putting names on things this species probably does not have a name a'tall. This predicament has a solution, but few who could solve said predicament know of the problem. Most assume that we (society) already know all the names of things. Consequently, many uniformed funding agents simply default to putting their name on a building whilst instead they could be generating names for species the their cash and write it off on their taxes. Indeed, there is regulation saying in the funding contract the funder gets to name any resulting new bees. That is not how things normally roll, (general practice has the person who writes the paper as the person who names the species) but absolutely no rules against it. How much would you pay to be able to permanently name a bee species?
