Responsible: After losing his Uncle Ben at the tender age of 15, it spurred him onto a life of heroism which he hasn’t looked back from ever since. The responsibility plays a big part of his every day heroism. This can also be his downfall as various villain over the years have found his sense of responsibility overbearing!  

Team player: It has taken Peter a very long time to become a team player as he prefers to go it alone. Thanks to Tony Stark, he now has connections to the Avengers but on the negative side? It means these people could get hurt if there’s one wrong move from Peter.

Sharp wit: Probably what he’s most famous for, he’s always got a comeback for every quip a villain or even a team mate comes out with. This can also annoy quite a few people in his life because they don’t know if he’s being serious or not. This also works to relieve any tension, or so that Peter believes.

WHAT BROUGHT YOUR CHARACTER TO SOKOVIA?

After the ISA raided his apartment and took away everything he had put together for Parker Industries, he’s feeling a bit pissed off and wants to make sure that they know it and find out why no one was there to help when he called upon them. Tony told them that they are hiding, like cowards and Peter, sadly, believes that.

DID THEY SIGN THE ACCORDS? WHY OR WHY NOT? No, Tony tried to sway him in the direction but in the end, Peter said no, he has his own thing to do. He still keeps in contact with Tony, but keeps him at arms length.

Over the years, Peter has become a better team player and has often called upon one of the other Spider folks for help if he needs it. He’s happy to have inspired others to take up their own Spider mantle but a part of him feels guilty about it.

Peter has been Spider-Man for a long time before Tony discovered him and brought him into the airport fight. Not that Peter wanted to, he just wanted to get on with his life in New York but this was Tony Stark and for a long time, he admired him and the way he had tried to change Stark Industries around. All of this changed when it came to signing the Accords, he wasn’t happy with having his name on a piece of paper that he didn’t believe in so parted ways with his mentor and once good friend.

Before he parted ways with Tony, he was given a cash startup to begin his own tech company which would’ve been called Parker Industries if the ISA hadn’t stripped his apartment inside out.

POTENTIAL CHARACTER ARCS:

I don’t have firm idea yet, but Peter eventually joining them full time in Sokovia could be something to build on. He needs to have his eyes opened about Tony and his motives as he still views his ex-mentor with rose coloured glasses.

CHARACTER BIO —

With great power comes great responsibility.

Those were the last words that fifteen year old Peter Parker heard his Uncle Ben say as he died right there on the street. That was the moment that his entire life shook up.

Three months before his Uncle Ben’s death, Peter had been on a field trip with his class from Midtown High attending the General Techronics exhibition. It was supposed to be fun and educating but Peter was there to take the photos for the school paper and wandered off to get a better look at one of the exhibitions, maybe take some photos of the cool looking hybrid spiders. He never even saw it coming but he sure as hell felt it.

Overnight, Peter felt himself changing in every way, from his senses and strength to he fact that he discovered that he could crawl up walls. He knew that life was about to get very different indeed.

Skip forward many years later, Peter is now a tired 34 year old with a constant smear campaign against Spider-Man via his old boss, J.Jonah Jameson. Working for the Daily Bugle was a drain on his social life and his resources and his time so he packed it all up, threw his resignation at Jameson and hasn’t looked back.

He tried to start his own little independent photography studio but his only clients were families looking for portraits and their screaming kids so Peter turned his focus completely on Spider-Man.

Meeting Tony Stark was a bit of a dream come true, but we all know how the saying goes, don’t meet your heroes because Tony was nothing like he had been expecting. He seemed so cool zipping around New York as Iron Man and had even looked up to him... until the Accords. He didn’t even want to get involved because he had a whole life in New York and Aunt May to look after but the older man bent his arm with promises, so off he went to the airport to fight the other Avengers. He did not have a good time.

Peter tried to reason with Tony after but the admiration was starting to die out and it caused him to turn his back on his mentor. So Tony wants a war? Well, what about an industry war instead? Peter really wanted to go toe to toe with Stark Industries... till the ISA raided his apartment and stripped it all away.

Well.... now what? Peter has set his sights on Sokovia where he knows that there’s a relief effort and some old faces.

“I can be funny.” Marc huffed into his glass. That was a problem for them, when people knew there was three of them in one head. Steven was the smart one. Jake was the con artist. It was easy to be made into a caricature of himself to make it easier to understand that he wasn’t just faces of Marc Spector but three whole lives. He knew it wasn’t what Peter meant, fuck, Peter seemed to try harder to understand Marc than Marc did sometimes.

“Well if it tasted like lemonade then everyone would be wasted all the time. Come on, you were mind controlled Peter. If it was one of your costumed bad guys finding out he was mind controlled to commit crimes, you’d be in court testifying how he didn’t mean it and you believe he should be given a payout from the government for emotional damages of being in court at all. I can’t be you about this, so my version of throwing a pity parade is cheap booze and cable television until we regret it tomorrow. If we were in a motel, it would really complete the ambiance.”

“Eh, I wouldn’t say that.” Peter shrugged with a shake of his head, he did try though and he was going to give them that. “But you have my full support if you wish to pursue a career in comedy if you get bored being Moon Knight.” 

He sighed a little. “Some times I don’t wanna be that guy.” Peter admitted, he didn’t really know any other way to use his status as a superhero though. He was a good guy through and through. “I know, I know and I will probably be doing the same to her.” He took another drink and slumped back, chuckling a little at the motel thing. “See? You can make a little joke right there.”

Peter didn’t like to sit and wait but after a phone call back home, he knew that he needed to try again with getting some help for back home. Here he was, in the mousehole just wandering around until he spotted someone coming in his direction. “Hey.” He grinned a little. “Do you have a minute to talk by per chance?”

It was like every single one of these kids were slowly trickling into Sokovia as a result of... whatever went on in Wundagore so when he saw Teddy in the market, he didn’t hang back, just headed straight over. “Look what the cat dragged in. I figured you guys would be around sooner or later because neither of you can keep away from danger.” Peter gave him a friendly punch on the arm.

“Maybe she made out with a spider and it bit you.” Marc knew Peter liked to laugh. Obviously, everyone liked to laugh. But Peter seemed most comfortable with jokes and quips. And Marc knew he wasn’t much of a funny guy on purpose. Half the time when he said something funny it was because he didn’t know what was happening. But maybe a half a smile out of Peter would mean he wouldn’t feel so down on himself.

“You didn’t… set her on him. She was already looking for him. You were just a convenient Google for her. You didn’t cause this, Peter. You were just in the crossfire and got lucky. Happens sometimes.” He nudged Peter’s drink toward him with the bottom of his own. “Get drunk, idiot.”

Peter gave him a look. “Let’s leave the jokes to me, shall we?” He reached over and gave Marc a pity pat. “You tried though, you really did.” He did chuckle a little as he withdrew his hand though. 

“Yeah well, it feels like I caused it.” He didn’t mean to be so down on himself right now but that was just how he felt, like it was his fault. Peter took the shot and downed it, it would take way more than three of these for him to feel it so he had another straight away. “Tastes like shit.”

“Yeah, I know.” Marc’s voice was soft. He did know. Peter and Steven had a lot in common that way, this desire to make the world better without hurting it more. Seeing people as more than their worst deeds, hoping if they saw why what they were doing was wrong, they could be helped. Marc wondered if it was because he didn’t have the same childhood he and Jake did. Understand some people were just born broken inside, they’d never want to change because they already saw the truth of what they were doing.

“Sometimes it has to be funny, or else I’d fucking lose it.” He poured them both another shot, but this time, Marc just sat with it in his hand.

“Making out with someone isn’t always helping. Besides, you can’t prove your spider sense doesn’t come from other spiders warning you shits about to go down.” Marc was going for breezy now. Easier to make light of it, the tragedy of it, than wallow in it. Knowing Ivy would try and kill this man and Peter would blame himself. That she took advantage of him and left scars in his memory that would never heal no matter how small they’d seem in years. “Friendly isn’t always the kind of help people need. Are you going to try and stop her now?”

“I didn’t make out with her.” Peter said a bit more firmly. “Besides, I’m not really feeling girls much at the moment.” he shook his head. “Listen, my spider sense does not come from the spiders around me, I know how it works because I did a ton of tests. I even tried to talk to spiders but it did nothing. I dug through hours of research into the genetically altered spider that bit me. Did you know that it also bit another person after me? She calls herself Silk.” He was fond of Cindy, she was more like a sister to him than anything else. 

“Obviously I’m gonna try stop her now, I set her on the poor guy so this is the least I can do.”

“Peter if it… Look, from what research I managed to do, from the story Ivy told, the guy was a piece of shit.” Death was not something Marc was afraid of dealing out. He knew other heroes disagreed, and he didn’t do it zealously, but sometimes there wasn’t another choice in how to handle something. Not when thinking about the greater safety. He didn’t know if that would help, though, since Peter was one of those do gooders who believed in rehabilitation and minimizing his harm in the name of good.

Marc kicked back his second shot. “Yeah. My life is one big crazy laugh after another.” He raised both eyebrows to emphasize the dryness of his tone. Peter didn’t know the half of it.

“I don’t, because I didn’t get trapped in vines. I thought you were supposed to have super reflexes or something. What, the spiders didn’t warn you she was coming?” Marc kicked Peter’s ankle under the table. “Come on, this isn’t a joke, Parker. She messed with your head. You could still have her influence for all we know, this is an unknown enemy.”

“It doesn’t matter if the guy is a piece of shit, it goes against my whole thing.” Any deaths that went on near him weren’t normally caused by him, they were accidents and Peter had always believed strongly that anyone who tried to fight him over the years could be rehabilitated, take Doc Ock for example. Totally was not his fault the chip had malfunctioned and turned him against Peter, that had been a toughie. 

“I didn’t say it was a laugh, Marc.” he shook his head some but next time they had some down time, he’d ask more about this subject. 

“Ow, come on..” Peter pouted a little, it hadn’t hurt but he just wanted to be over dramatic. “I do, I do, I swung away but she still managed to catch me more than once before she kissed me. Besides, actual spiders don’t communicate with me, that’s not the point, my spider sense told me there was danger and she seemed lost. I didn’t know she was gonna control me to get information, I was trying to help her because I’m the friendly neighborhood spider-man after all.”

“Yeah, not looking good, buddy. You did a good job of tracking down everything he’s been doing here, habits, locations, opportunities, if what Steven saw was right. He’s known to dramatize how terrible things can be.” Marc poured another shot into the glass in front of Peter. He wanted to get a read on just how… okay or not Peter was knowing that she was probably going to kill a man. A bad man. But a man Peter lead her right to.

He paused with his own drink almost to his mouth. “Fuck, I think I’d really have to get locked up in the loony bin again if Khonshu was another personality. Old Egyptian moon god, keeps me from dying, gave me the magic suit, backstory shit.” He tossed his shot of whiskey back, exhaling through his nose. “Pete, I know you get lonely, but you didn’t seriously kiss the crazy plant lady on purpose?”

Peter groaned, having to take the shot just as quickly as the last one because he didn’t want to think about the part he had played into luring that poor guy to his death. Peter had tried so hard over the years to be the good guy so this? Yeah, he was gonna need more shots to process the news. Fucking hell.

He blinked slowly at what Marc was telling him. “Okay... funnily enough, that is not the craziest thing you’ve ever told me.” Peter slumped back in his seat then shot him a look. “Why Marc, you sound almost jealous.” He grinned then leaned forward. “I can give you little spider kisses if you need them.” Then he scoffed a little. “She trapped me in vines, I tried getting away but do you know how hard it is to shake off constant vines coming at you? Pretty hard.”

“Jason Woodrue tried to kill her. American scientist, working with the ISA.” Marc pulled open the liquor cabinet, one of the most important cabinets in the house. It was cheap whiskey and it tasted like shit, but enjoyment wasn’t really the goal. He at pulled two mismatched glasses out to pour it into.

“I met Ivy investigating an magical presence in the woods for Khonshu. Wasn’t her as far as I can tell. But she told me some of her story. I offered to help, she rejected it. Probably because she had you on the line, you must have been investigating this before I got here.”

“Oh shit.” Peter groaned and ran his hands over his face. “Great, so I’ve set a plant lady on the dude that killed her, brilliant.” He took one of the glasses and downed it, the burn that followed made him wince a little before setting the glass down. 

There was that name again, Khonshu and Marc wasn’t the only one mentioning it recently either. “Wait... is Khonshu another personality or something? Because Steven also mentioned it” Peter moved back to the subject in hand. “It sounds like it. I don’t even remember much beyond her kissing me.”

She stared at the picture and the sight of Jason’s face made her feel sick. Her mind flashed to Pamela screaming for him with the last of her strength while his poison destroyed everything that made her human until she died completely and all that was left was Ivy. Her eyes that she had been keeping human for Peter’s benefit turned a dangerous yellow and black while thick vines wove into her thick hair and sprouted poisonous red flowers. She didn’t realize she did it until one of the petals fell and brushed her cheek. Ivy touched her hair and winced. She had to focus to go back to normal. It didn’t matter to her if Peter didn’t want her anymore. He had what she needed. 

She took the file from him while he refused to explain who Steven was. She didn’t know and she didn’t really care. “As long as he doesn’t show up here,” she said while she flipped through the pages. “This is good. It’s better than I thought.” She was almost sorry for it too. She underestimated him. 

Ivy looked at Peter and took pity on him now that she had what she needed. Holding out her palm it filled with pollen that would completely wipe away the effects of her poison and end the influence of her hormones on him. She leaned forward and blew the pollen into his face. As soon as he breathed it in he would be free. “Thank you Peter,” she said and she meant it. “I appreciate the help.”

Chances were he would be pissed off about what she did to him now that he could think clearly. She didn’t care. She’d relocate within the woods again to keep his little friends off her heels. It was almost finished anyways. Then they could catch her and she’d deal with that. As long as Jason Woodrue died. For Pam.

Seeing her transform like that made him wince a little, he didn’t know whether to be disgusted or fascinated at what he was seeing. “I worked for the daily bugle for years so I know what to look for when it comes to things like these.” Peter pointed to the file then dropped his hand, his limbs suddenly feeling heavy. 

Then the pollen was blown in his face. He sneezed for a few moments as he felt her influence finally fade away and his spider-sense kick back in, telling him that he was in danger. This time he decided to pay attention and shot his web at the file in her hands in attempt to take it back and burn the thing.

Charlie’s eyes widened at the news, her grin becoming all the more excited. “Oh hell yeah, that rules. I love that mine is pink but blue and black is so much scarier,” she said brightly, following him eagerly as he continued to speak. “Not a mutant, no. Something else entirely,” she added, thinking back to her conversation with Zatanna. Still, they could get into that after they had gotten pastries. She usually was more amenable to sharing if she had eaten.

“I don’t think he likes being thought of as scary.” Peter glanced back at her, it had been a while since he ran into Nightcrawler though. “A metahuman? I hear those are a thing now.” Leading the way up the street, it didn’t take him long to lead her down to the cafe where he stopped and gestured. “There you are.” It was still open even this late into the evening. “They have some good cakes in there.” She already knew that but small talk wasn’t really Peter’s thing.

“What I’m doing isn’t the same as what the acting critics said to her. I don’t care if she’s a classically trained Shakespearean actor or a back up option for the next Jackass movie.” Lois didn’t like being compared to the Hollywood and Broadway critics who called Mary Jane Watson wooden or claimed that a Latina actress could never make it big time in leading roles. “What I care about is that working for Lex Luthor and bragging about your charity work while you use it for Netflix clout is really stupid and it’s going to make her look stupid when things start to come out.” Believe it or not Lois wasn’t a bully for no reason. If Mary Jane changed her stance she’d back her up. “But honestly, I can’t control what she does or doesn’t do with her time. I can use her ridiculously excessive social media following to my advantage by drawing heat on myself so that those same people come to the drop day of the publication. I don’t need them to like me. They’ll see Troia and know she isn’t lying.”

Damian Wayne thought people were like sheep. He might be right so she needed to herd them. She’d been doing this long enough that she had a pretty good idea how to make things happen. “Good enough,” she said about the tripod. “Low tech and production value will make it harder for people to claim we staged the whole thing.”

She rolled her eyes. “Flexible guy like that? I can believe it. I’ve seen his butt in those tights.” If he didn’t want to tell her about it then fine. “Do you think during your next pillow talk session you can ask him if he’d be willing to be interviewed? I bet he has some stories to tell.”

Peter raised his hands in surrender, not wanting to get in the middle of this. “Ok, ok, you win.” He lowered them slowly onto his lap. “I can’t control what she does either, I think she’d rather get kidnapped by the Goblin again than accept any advice about this.” He shrugged his shoulders a little. “Okay, so what happened to Troia?” He asked now, leaning forward a bit.

“It’s not tights.... it used to be a high tech nano suit before Tony Stark took it back. He had to go back to another suit due to it. Low tech, no tech, sucks but does its job.” At the question about being interviewed, he raised an eyebrow slightly. “As long as you don’t have any plans to out who he is, I’m sure he’ll be ok with that.”

“Pete let’s just… sit down. Drink something. You need a drink.” He knew that he certainly buried bouts of amnesia behind a couple shots to try and blame it on alcohol poisoning the next day. “Go over what you remember, what you did, and what Ivy is planning, alright? Get you as much up to speed as we can.”

Marc gestured to the doorway so they could take the stairs down to their floor. Jake had been the one with the shopping list last time, so he was certain they’d find booze in the house if nothing else.

When Marc mentioned sitting down and getting a drink, Peter nodded miserably then started to make his way back inside despite the questions Marc had for him. All in good time. 

Reaching his door, Peter waited until the door was open and Marc had gone in first before following. “I don’t really remember all that much, only what she wanted me to.” he sat him down on one of the arm chairs. “It was about some Jason guy, I don’t even know why she’s targeted him.”

Laura blinked, unable to shake off the shock of hearing that two of the most people-oriented heroes she knew were having a conflict over how to handle matters back in New York. “And you didn’t hit him then? That’s exceptional control,” she said to keep the mood light, but she would make sure to delve into that. Her father often had war stories about the Captain and the Howling Commandos, and it didn’t usually include them backing down from a fight.

“No attempt at eating brains yet,” she deadpanned, going along with the sarcastic tone. Her easy posture changed slightly and she curled forward. “It was… tough, for a while. I was managing but I never gave up hope. And when we found each other again… yeah, he’s all there, mind and body, but what for? To keep fighting never-ending battles? I can pick that up for him, he doesn’t need to worry anymore.”

“Trust me, I wanted to hit him and I still do.” Peter let out a long sigh. “I also want to hit Tony for doing that to me. I have nothing but the clothes on my back, Laura. They took everything.” Spiderman very rarely sounded like this, but Peter Parker? He was exhausted and it was starting to show through the cracks.

“You know your dad way better than anyone on this earth, there’s no way he’ll fully take you up on that. It’s just not in his nature to slow down and stop doing all this.” He was not surprised at all to hear that Laura could pick it up for him, Peter knew she would if Logan let her but nope, he was too damn stubborn.

“Nice to see you too, Parker,” she said casually, prodding at the sobbing man with her foot - if only to add insult to injury. “Sometimes I have to otherwise they don’t get the memo,” she drawled as the man attempted to shift and crawl away from her. She let him go. He had gotten the message.

America lifted one shoulder in a casual shrug. “Billy. Tommy. Teddy. Kate, I think.” She listed off. “Everyone seemed to converge after the events at Wundagore. I only came to see what mess they had to clear up this time,” she said, shaking the hand she had punched the mugger out with before sliding it into her pocket.

Peter shook his head as America added more insult to his injury. “This is what you get when you try to rob a superhero.” He gave the guy a look. “An ass kicking.” Some times Peter wasn’t against that, maybe when he was younger, he tended to stick to the rules but these days and with how his home was ransacked to the point where he was ran out of the country? Yeah, all bets were off, no more Mr Nice Spider (some times, old habits and all.)

“Oh, I heard about Wundagore stuff but I wasn’t involved and trying not to get involved in that stuff happening because I’m here for one reason only and that’s getting help for back home.”

Marc rubbed a hand over his face, looking up at the sky. “Peter, I’m not just saying it to be pissed at you. I literally can’t just force myself to switch if he doesn’t want to come out. Steven just… goes to sleep when I’m Moon Knight most of the time. He isn’t– Steven knows. He’s stupid to just forgive you. But he knows. What happened with Poison Ivy, Peter?”

He narrowed his eyes, trying to judge if Peter was still under her influence when he said her name, if it would trigger something up and out of him.

“I wasn’t asking you force yourself to switch.” Peter said that a little bit too forcefully so had to step back again. “I don’t know.” He shrugged his shoulders and ran his hands through his hair, making it stick up more than usual. “It’s all a blur, like she doesn’t want me to remember every detail even if I tried to recall what happened. She released me from whatever hold she had, I’m exhausted and feel like I’m being weighed down.”
