They step from the soiree’s warmth into icy winter chill; with a sharp sniffle, he shivers in reflex at the dramatic change. He doesn’t fight the inevitable, this longstanding predictability, and turns from her, expectant, covers tightly with leather gloved hands.Â
“Bless you.” She reaches up to adjust his scarf and touch a quick kiss to his cheek, smiles at him in appreciation as he sniffles, rubs his nose and murmurs an excuse me. Drastic temperature drops aside, these sorts of social gatherings are very much not his thing, and she knows the only reason he’d even attended had been for her. The evening seemed to have gone well enough, though, and she nods back towards the door optimistically. “That wasn’t completely awful, now, was it?”
His expression indicates that, well, perhaps not completely, but perhaps it wasn’t very far from completely, actually, for a brief moment before that stark frisson of dissonance, not yet settled, redoubles and with another shiver he gives himself over to insistent need again, again.
“Huhh-TSSCHH-uu! HTSCH-uu!”
“Bless you.” She laughs with undisguised fondness. “Is that a yes or a no?”Â
He gives a short, brisk shake of his head, no choice no control no chance for a comeback, raises an index finger in pause and turns away again with urgency, imperative, surrendered. “hh-AATSSCH-uu!”
She stands on tiptoe to offer another light kiss. “Alright, winter’s winning. We should get home.”Â
The frigid wind picks up suddenly; a deeper, brutal bite, piercing and acute, unforgiving.
He manages a muttered Oh, for… E-exc…
“hhh-AHHTSSCHHUU! *SNF!* Ah, gods.”
Her attention sharpens, covetous, beneath her softmurmured blessing. “Mmm…and maybe in front of the fire.” She embraces him, weaves her hand through his hair as he sniffles again, staggered and desperate, held captive in halting repose and oh that catch of breath, that anticipant escalation, that absolute, demanding, irresistible need…
Burning inside in defiance of the wintry chill, she presses closer against her love and murmurs, velvet softcarnal, “And definitely some body heat.” Â
