APRIL 24TH AWARENESS (be safe please)

I’ve been seeing a bunch of ladies (and a couple of guys, bless them) posting and warning on tiktok about April 24th. If you don’t have tiktok or don’t know what it’s all about, basically a couple of assholes declared April 24th a “national holiday” called National Rape Day where it was “okay” to sexually assault someone. Obviously this is wrong, for countless reasons, and I wanted to remind you all (even the boys, because it happens to everyone.) to be safe tomorrow.

Take protection wherever you go. Don’t go out alone, and it would be a whole hell of a lot better if you took a trusted male figure with you wherever you went—Dad, older brother, grandpa, anyone. Take protection, a pocket knife, a gun if you have concealed carry, pepper spray, the whole shebang. Hairspray also works really good as a substitute for pepper spray (little me found that out the hard way when I was messing with mum’s hair stuff) and there are also protective keychains.

Don’t go down stairwells or to the parking lot alone, especially in the dark—just please be safe. Don’t wear anything to easy to grab and/or take off, keep your belongings and loved ones close. Joints, the thumb, in between the elbow and shoulder (this one fuckin hurts dude), and especially between the legs are all good points to kick, punch, pinch, whatever. If you’re being grabbed, go for the weakest link. “fire” is more helpful to get help than screaming “rape” sadly. Be safe loves.
