I needed a place to yell about sumo so I don't drive everyone on main nuts.

Well if I post nothing else here, I will post two thank yous/plugs.

One, to my partner Moon (whose tumblr handle I forget, they don't really use it anyway) for dragging my dubious ass into watching some of last september's basho with them... and of course I got hooked.

Two, to MidnightSumo for his twitch channel and his associated amazing community. Truly one of of the most welcoming, helpful and non-toxic communities on Twitch. He streams sumo content 24/7 including live coverage of the tournaments as they happen every other month, and he and the community will gladly explain literally anything sumo-related you have questions about.

The March Grand Sumo Tournament starts next week and I am considering doing yet another sideblog because I'm going to be extremely un-normal about it and probably shouldn't torture y'all on main for 15 days straight.

Actually kinda shocked there isn't more of a scene for it on this hellsite aside from chubby chasers and blogs fatshaming themselves. Which is sad because sumo is intensely interesting when you get past the whole "mostly naked fat men slamming into each other" stereotype we have of it in the West.

I mean I have plenty of reasons to not do this:

I have no damn time for yet another project

I'm kind of a beginner at this, I've only started following sumo since September so I'm not in any way shape or form

(this is the big one) I'm not Japanese. So I'm gonna fuck shit up. And hesitate to be even seen as authority adjacent on the topic.

But at the same time... be the change you want to see in the world right? and I need more people to squee about this with. Ugh.
