i'm not japanese nor fully fluent!! i've just been consuming japanese media for way too long and picked up on a lot. i don't have a traditional recommendation since 90% of what i know i learned through immersion like watching anime, youtubers, movies, tv shows, and listening to music...
hiragana and katakana are super duper easy to memorize, but kanji is a pain and a work in progress. because i didn't formally study, i'm much much better at vocabulary, understanding, and listening than forming long sentences myself. but i keep trying!!
so i might not be the best for any advice, sorry :sob: for starters, i think with every language you just gotta be actively consuming content in it. you can do it i trust you 🥹

about her sanity: concerning!! i feel like staying positive during the main storyline while being so "powerless" is incredibly hard, but she has no other choice but to try, mainly because she feels responsible for grim. since she has no recollection of her life before coming to twisted wonderland, she doesn't have much of a baseline but she knows for sure things are out of control and overwhelming.
everything is kinda scary, so yuu is just clinging to the periods of peace and going along with things however she can.
riddle's overblot definitely made her realize that things are way out of proportion, so she's trying to tread super carefully. it’s exhausting and she often feels lost, but it helps her feel like she isn't making things worse while still doing what she can to help.

yes, she does!! i see ruggie as a very busy person, so i imagine they wouldn't interact a ton. but whenever they do cross paths, they get along well because ruggie is nice and really easy to talk to!! bonding over their madol struggles is definitely a plus too lol
no birthday parties for her ߹𖥦߹ maybe she and grim can pick a date at some point just so they can have another excuse to eat cake. but i can tell you she's a pisces. (the game was also released on march 18 2020 so that could be a reason?)

okay, so i'm going to talk a little bit since some people want to know more about my yuu!! (basically no spoilers and won't go too deep!)
starting from the basics, she is mostly just our canon ramshackle prefect yuu.
got mistakenly summoned from another world and has no recollection of her life, name, or age. her likes and dislikes are slowly rediscovered instinctively over time.
“yuu” became her name through a misunderstanding after the summoning incident and eventually just stuck.
she’s shy but genuinely curious, and tends to wear her emotions pretty openly despite not talking much.
because she’s socially anxious, soft-spoken and hard of hearing, she struggles in group settings and usually keeps to herself rather than constantly asking people to repeat themselves or having to repeat herself.
usually seen helping with errands for crowley or the faculty, or sitting in quiet corners with her sketchbook.
money is usually tight, so she relies heavily on cafeteria meals and spends the rest on tuna, instant noodles, cheap cosmetics, and basic things from Sam’s store.
relationships
yuu's unobtrusive nature means she isn't disliked on campus, though she silently shrinks away from intimidating personalities like vil, leona, sebek, and riddle.
floyd only acknowledges her existence because she occasionally buys mostro lounge's cheapest item just to sit by the glass wall and watch the water.
beyond her core friendship with grim and adeuce, and exploring ruins with malleus, yuu is incredibly close to ortho. they constantly hype each other up; she asks him about everything, marvels at his gadgets, and completely buys into his pro-idia propaganda.
relationship with idia
yuu and idia stayed mostly at a friendly-acquaintance level until after book 6.
their dynamic consisted of small, recurring moments like brief class chats, accidental run-ins in secluded spots, or yuu quietly lingering in comfortable silence while idia complained about the world (like his homescreen lines). it naturally evolved into an unspoken agreement to stay close simply because the other was easy to be around.
over time, idia also became painfully aware of yuu’s tendency to stand a little too close, stare at his lips while listening, tug on his sleeve for attention, or quietly giggle at his commentary before adding something to it, which did absolutely nothing good for his sanity.
after book 6, ortho encourages idia to be more open to friendships, and the two begin interacting more intentionally. yuu starts taking idia’s recommendations, they exchange contact info and message more often, and things gradually turn into watching movies, gaming together, and casually hanging around between ramshackle’s guest room and idia’s room, mostly because his setup is objectively better.
this is all oversimplified but from there on it’s basically history!!
