The First in What May Be a Multi-Part Series Titled: 'The Pitfalls of Changing Jobs Within the Same Company and Team.' Affectionately titled, 'What the Fudgesicle Have I Been Doing for the Past Year?' Pitfall 1: You are Going to Suck at the New Job. Probably not literally (Unless you went from web developer to lead beekeeper having no prior bee experience. Have you seen the honey wheel? Start there). But you (and by 'you,' we all understand that I mean 'me,') will show up every day wondering why you ever thought this was a good idea or that you were capable. You will feel like you need to apologize to your team on a regular basis for the fact that you are now a giant stress monkey that feels wholly unqualified. Your team will be wonderfully supportive because to them you were rewarded for being a superstar with a promotion (later Pitfall topic: Accepting 'Promotions' Without Compensation). However, this will double up the guilt you feel for not being able to change the world. You will also recognize that you are not being given the appropriate tools to accomplish the tasks, but that doesn't stop the voice in your head from suggesting that a snowcone stand may be a better endeavor for you. Luckily, if you have as kickass of a team as I do, they will remind you that all of this is happening FOR you, not TO you. But that still doesn't prevent putting on your big girl panties every day from being tough.
