Photos taken on the 16th of May, 2017, with a Canon DSLR 550D camera.

Used PicMonkey to edit saturation, sharpen, exposure, shadows, covered blemishes, and also brightened the cat’s eyes.

‘Puzzle Piece’

This image represents how we are all a puzzle to solve, and we try our whole lives to find our missing pieces so that we can put ourselves back together, usually imperfectly.

I used Adobe Illustrator CC 2017 to put this image together, and I used Photoshop to crop the images and change the colours.

The image is slightly blurry, which is a huge downfall. However, the harsh lighting coming from the window on the left of the subject, illuminates the subject’s features well, and contrasts with the strong shadows on the right hand side of the face. The subject’s joyful demeanour brings a positive glow to the image which complements well with the white balance, and shows the image’s intended affect - to make the viewer smile.

The image was edited using Adobe Photoshop, to control the white balance, dull the saturation, and lift the shadows slightly. i also used the spot healing brush to clean up some of the facial blemishes.

I went out to dinner with my friend, Maria, and was persuaded to take some photos of her as she always looks so aesthetically pleasing to me, with her cheekbones and strong lines. The contrast between her luminescent skin and her black hoodie creates a harsh image that strengthens her features. The shadows showing on the back of her hands adds some depth to the image, and complements the extreme darkness and extreme whiteness within.

The saturation of the green, pink and blue colours emphasise the positive emotions that enhance this image. Personally, it makes me feel happy to view this photograph, and I feel connected to the subject because of her large, welcoming smile. 

The image is balanced, with the subject in the middle, showing strong composition. The contrast of the sky above the subject’s head, adds some contrast (and another colour) and gives the impression of a hot summer’s day of hanging at the park with friends.

The texture of the leaves stick out and are contrasted with the soft cotton t-shirt in front, and the soft clouds above.

Footscray Uni Town

The diagonal angle of the building cuts the image in two, showing off the street view and the soft clouds. The colour of the buildings is enhanced, and contrasts well with the light blue of the sky and the greys of the cars and road below.
