The Office - Steven & Green
Steven’s brow cocked as the young man spoke. Unfortunately, ever since his own resignation, his ears have fallen silent to the other League members across the globe bar a select few. The Gym Leader politics outside of Hoenn don’t exactly come to Steven’s list of priorities to begin with! But to hear that a once fine Gym leader like Green has even given his own position is a shock to say the least! Curiosity did bubble inside the silver haired businessman though… Why was he here, all the way from Kanto?
As the conversation continued, Steven leaned in with interest. His clasped together hands now sat firmly under his nose as he fixed his gaze onto the young man. Forming a League consisting of entirely new members – a council of the once powerful to prevent corruption and nepotism within the powers of the world. He winced at the quite obvious stab towards him; Green obviously speaking of Steven’s handing of the title to Wallace all those years ago. It’s a shame; no one in the League said a thing about his rise to power… It probably did look very suspicious in the other Regions of the world though.
A nod was given as Green finished, followed by a silence. “Tell me, Green… What makes you think I’d join your little ‘crusade’? I didn’t simply lose my position which you so *ahem* graciously pointed out. What makes you think I’d simply give myself back to a similar role?” Steven stated. There were reasons he left the League to begin with: to be free of the boring lifestyle of battles day in and day out, only to be graced with the paperwork of the League the same night.
The exact same thing he was doing right now.
Nothing had changed! Steven’s eyes darted from his desk to around his office; it was the exact same thing he tried to escape from. Granted, this is not a permanent thing for him as he does have several excursions into the unknown throughout the week alone. But he was still stuck doing the same damn thing constantly, be it favors to his father or not! His head shook, leaving a confused, blank look on him. Steven immediately turned his chair to face the large window behind him, hiding his realization and his embarrassment.
Rustboro looms below – the town where he was born. He can see the people walk below and the tropical sun shining below them made him just appreciate the beauty of the sprawling city. Seeing that beauty sparks all sorts of new determination; a new drive to protect those like he did all those years ago against the horrors Team Magma and Aqua committed… He is not going to fail this city, this region.
“...However… The idea does sound intriguing. Arceus knows we’ve both seen our fair share of disease plaguing the Leagues… Take the gracious Malva of Kalos.” He grips his hand as he speaks. As he delves more into his past, he can feel the guilt of his actions… It’s time to make them right. He swings around in his chair and stands, the dramatics of the scene like something out of a cartoon.
“When do we start, Mr. Oak?”
