March in Dallas, TX.
Found in my son’s pockets this week.
Flight
Just saw my life-long best friend for the first time after seven years. In those seven years, we've each had our first children. Here they are playing tag together. They were instant best friends, just like us.
He comes by his the love for super heroes honestly.
Friends.
Batman-cowboy working on a dinosaur puzzle.
Pit stop for my lion.
"Be the T-Rex"
For over 4 months my son has been going to a new school. He loves the school, but hates being dropped off. This results in lots of morning drama, throwing himself on the floor in front of the teacher and all other kids, flailing, kicking, and screaming for mommy not to leave. I've tried a variety of methods to resolve this: the short goodbye (sit him down and walk out as he screams), the long goodbye (playing with him for awhile before leaving), the reassurance (talking about the fun he will have), the distraction (Oh look at that!). Nothing was working. It all resulted in the same high-drama ordeal. Until.... he solved it for himself.
He told me 2 days ago he was going to "be the T-Rex" when I asked him if he would walk into school like a big boy. He loves dinosaurs, but I had no idea what this meant. He did just that. He stomped and roared his way into the school, without even a glance back at me. It was his way of showing his confidence.
I think he taught me a lesson too; As I approach my life, I'm going to be the T-Rex.
Who are these masked crusaders?
My man.
My son loves his "paw-paw" more than words can express. I think I captured it here.
First on stage performance for my son tonight. Lots of determination in the eyes of this 2 year-old.
Having a son means light-sabre fights in the kitchen... and I love it!
Daddy and me shoes.
Batman really can fly.
.. and yes, I am that parent who dresses my child in a Batman shirt (complete with a cape) and Spiderman shoes. It is important to represent both Marvel and DC.
