I currently have a problem…

My ex is back in my life, he’s never left after all we’ve been good friends. However, he is talking to a girl he was in a relationship with recently and it’s … toxic.

Like arguing and fighting every day toxic. Like I’m going to cheat on you out of spite toxic.

I’ve tried to say that it’s only hurting him, as well as those around him.

We’ve known each other forever, locker neighbors in Middle School, Dated in High School, and are good friends now. We always somehow meet back up in the future and it’s like nothing ever happened.

But I can’t help but be worried, I can’t help but think he is going to go back to her after everything. I’ve been attempting to stop him because I know once he does he will cut off all communications with me cause that’s how toxic it is.

Yeah sure, maybe I have feelings for him, and he probably doesn’t me. We don’t talk about it, and I would be okay with him dating whoever as long as it wasn’t hurting him and he was happy.

But this is getting ridiculous. I’ve done nothing but cry for him over the last 5 days due to worry.

I know he has probably done the same over hurting as well.

But I can’t help but feel as if he has done something incredibly stupid since we were suppose to hang out last night and he has ignored my messages all night.

I’m not pyschic by any means, but usually we can kinda sense these things about each other I suppose?

I’m praying to the Gods my worry is unwarranted.

Cults are getting better branding, prettier leaders, hipper-sounding cosmologies, and wider reaches due to social media. They’re not all deity-focused. Thoughtful, intelligent people can get sucked into them. Just…stay safe out there, guys. Do your research, look at all your options, and trust your gut, not your guru.

I do want to emphasize, again, that cults (and toxic groups with cult-like attributes, I’m using this term pretty loosely) don’t usually look like what you’d expect. A lot of toxic and dangerous religious movements are tiny and you won’t find much about them via Google. Cultish non-religious movements are the same way.

Start-ups, multi-level marketing companies, activist groups, fan groups, political groups, and internet gurus who run retreats can all be cult-like and dangerous. Tune your BS detector, ask family, friends, and experts for advice.

Here are some warning signs:

Pressure – pressure to make quick decisions, to give (or pledge) considerable amounts of money, to move in with a group, to abandon family or cut off friends. Elevated Leaders – anyone claiming special insight, special powers, or that they aren’t human. Demanding special treatment (compared to other followers). Misuse of funds or money collecting at the top. physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse. Lack of accountability or oversight. Isolation – encouraging (or requiring) members to cut off family relationships, friendships with those outside of the group, leaving jobs, moving to isolated areas, taking away communication methods. Strong “us-vs-them” mentality. Vilification of ex-members. Love-bombing. Altered states of consciousness – long work hours, sleep deprivation, lack of access to adequate food or water. Otherwise unproblematic activities like meditation/prayer/chanting, but done for hours. Discouraging doubt – discouraging or punishing doubt and critical thinking.

A Devottee is someone who devotes themselves to a specific deity.

A Godspouse, does not always mean you are a spouse to a Diety, but rather in a romantic relationship with one.

Of course, this relationship goes both ways, having consent of both the Diety and Mortal.

Working on self sufficiency and responsibility is a good thing, but keeping the Paris Agreement is something that needs to be done on a state and corporate level (something that we can enforce with protest ofc)

You’re right, and those billionaire corporations spend millions of dollars paying coward scientists to lobby government with lies to make people believe that the climate crisis is fake. Democracy in capitalism will always be dependent on who has the most money; and so in this case, the people who get rich from fossil fuels are quite happy to have politicians tell you that actually, fossil fuels are fine for the environment.

So yes, definitely vote, but also join in with a climate activist group where you can. There’s often one in every town and city, and lots of stuff going on online.

Kinda surprised to see someone whose name is spooniewitch not being bothered by the ableism here. Glass or metal straws sound like a fantastic idea to send someone who has convulsions to hospital for some bonus mouth injuries. Also they have to be washed. The point of disposable is you don’t have to wash. For some that’s the difference between if they get fluids in or not.

Besides the fact individuals have very little direct effect on global warming beyond voting for those who will reduce emissions, stop tainting limited fresh water, etc. Most climate change is giant corporations and governments. More like learn to be self sufficient cause you won’t survive if you aren’t unless we can get people to elect people who have more than a single brain cell who “don’t believe” in climate change. You want a hope in hell of changing that? Vote. Boycott the worst offenders as much as is realistic for you. Growing your own herbs and food is the best idea on here. Learning how to recycle grey water is also helpful, and filter and treat impure water.

You’ve completely got the wrong end of the stick (or straw) here!

I am not the OP of this post. I was reblogging simply because someone had asked for a source, which I knew I could provide.

My reblogs literally talk about how climate change needs to be tackled on a state wide level, and that whilst working towards self sustainability is a positive step, it isn’t going to have much effect on the climate.

I literally have a whole section in my blog called the straw saga which is dedicated to how reusable straws are shit for a lot of disabled people, if you scroll back through my recent posts you’ll find them.

I just feel a bit like you didn’t read what I actually wrote on this post and instead just accused me of supporting ableist notions, which isn’t really fair…

I read and reread and there is zero mention of how some of these “ways to help” are ableist in nature and disabled people are suffering for the push for these things… coming from able bodied people who want to help the environment which is cool but it quickly gets into “yeah let’s get rid of all disposable straws!” And I feel like we have to constantly stress no, that is NOT an option, stop ignoring our voices. I run an accessibility blog as my side. You wouldn’t believe the amount of able bodied people who say “well one of those options should work for you! It works for me! You can even get silicon ones that have a bend! Problem solved!” Instead of… I dunno educating themselves there are ways to make biodegradable plastics so it’s not an issue instead of pushing dangerous and useless reusable straws at disabled people. I learned how to do so in high school so not sure why big companies can’t. I was bothered by the fact the original post had a decent amount of ableism you seemed from this post completely uncritical of. There has been s growing issue on my side of who I suspect are mainly able bodied people explaining “but x is accessible to some who have x and y” “yes but it’s still not accessible to z so it’s not accessible” and saying “well ok glass and metal are dangerous- now about (other non workable material)” like we didn’t consider that. When disposable stuff comes up we need to remind able bodied people constantly that no this isn’t an answer. I’m facing talk of them banning ALL disposable utensils as well as straws. I guess I’ll starve if I don’t have energy to wash a dish. Environmentalism shouldn’t hurt innocent people but unless we keep shoving that in their face? They assume it’s ok and do things like ban stuff without a viable replacement

Hello, I am the original poster of this, and I would like to address the two of you starting discourse and arguments within my post.

I do understand your place of concern of Ableism, however, they do make non-plastic bendable straws for cases such as those.

I am in no way ableist, I am disabled myself and to be called such a thing when you do not know the Tumblr Blog Owner, is slightly rude. I am both physical, and mental disabled, I do not discuss it on my Tumblr Blog, I want my blog to not be defined by that. I don’t want to be defined by them.

This post was to spread awareness on the ongoing crisis of our environmental status, and how us as Pagans and Witches should try our best to do what we can.

I am not asking that you absolutely have to use metal or glass straws. I understand if you can’t, I understand if you can’t recycle due to you not being able to due to where you live. I get it, and I’m not condemning anyone for it.

For the most part, big corporations are the blame, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t attempt to help our planet that we live on.

Lilrabbitssong, I do not know you personally and therefore will not completely judge you. However, I do have a right to judge you based upon what you have written and posted on this thread.

You were, in my opinion, incredibly rude and disrespectful. Spooner said that the information was on her blog, not within this thread.

If you don’t want to wash dishes, I get it no one really does, HOWEVER, disposial =/= harming the planet and it shouldn’t. There are days I can not bring myself to get out of bed, let alone wash a dish, or it takes me longer than a normal person.

Please, take a deep breath, ground yourself. There is no need for discourse, or agruments. Negativity only breeds more negativity, and that is the last thing I wished to bring.

I kindly ask you to no longer continue your ranting upon my post, this post was ment to spread awareness within a community. Nothing more, I am not forcing you to do any of these things if you can’t. I’m saying if you can, please do, that is all.

Think before you post, and call someone an ableist or anything else. I understand Tumblr culture has been prodimately this, but I will not tolerate it on my blog.

My blog is for positivity, not matter your abilities, your sexuality, your race, your gender, your culture, your beliefs, or how able bodied in the eyes of society you are.
