As someone who works very closely with refugees/immigration system I hate commenting on things like this but I can’t stay quiet anymore. The above comment is 100% true. I work with about 3 refugee resettlement agencies near me and most of the immigrants and refugees in the past year alone have NOT been from the southern border. For the most part, the majority of immigrants and refugees are from Bhutan/Myanmar, the Congo, the Middle East (various Arabic speaking countries but usually Dari or Pashto speakers), and Venezuela. If you know what’s going on in the world right now, you would know that all of the countries I just listed are facing horrific humanitarian crises. The vast majority of these people are fleeing dangerous conditions for a better life. They are not criminals. They largely aren’t coming from Mexico. And there is NOT more of them coming over than there has been in recent years. In fact, immigration numbers are DOWN. they have been at a record low in the US since the 2016 election.
