Bucky Barnes Timeline
With all the new infos about Bucky Barnes through FASW we can have a look at the timeline.
James Barnes was born on March 10, 1917 in Brooklyn. Shelbyville, Indiana is the home of his sister called Rebecca.

We have a flashback scene of Steve and Bucky, taking place after the funeral of Steve’s mother, probably October 1936
According data from S.H.I.E.L.D Sarah Rogers died on October 15, 1936
Bucky is 19 and Steve is 18. Bucky’s parents have a car. Bucky invites Steve to live with them. Steve declines.
Captain America The First Avenger 1943-1945
We see Bucky first, when he helps out Steve and tells him he is drafted. Bucky is about 26 yrs old.
We see Bucky next, when he is rescued by Steve after he was caught by the battle at Azzano, Italy. Bucky and the other prisoners were in the Austrian HYDRA Facility, located in Kreischberg, between Klagenfurt and Kitzbühel in the Austrian Alpes. Bucky had pneumonia and was turned over to Zola for experimentation and received the super serum.
Bucky joins Steve, instead of going home to the US. The Howling Commandos, all former prisoners with Bucky in Kreischberg, become part of Steve’s famous special ops.
The last time we see Bucky is during their raid of the train used by Zola. Bucky falls in the wintery ravine. Bucky is about 28 yrs. old. This is close to the end of the war in Europe in Winter 1945.
The Russians find him down stream and give him over to Zola. Bucky lost his left arm during the fall. He gets a metal arm from Zola turning him into a cyborg.
Bucky is put into stasis and cryo chamber, when he isn’t used by HYDRA
Later in a large facility in Sibiria with other Winter Soldiers
To keep him under control, he was placed into a chair that undid his memory functions and trigger words, that were placed by brain washing, were used to start his missions. These could last only a short time before the effect of trigger words and memory loss became unstable.
We can see then through the movies and series flashbacks of Bucky’s time as the Winter Soldier.
on Dec 16, 1991, when he kills Tony’s parents Howard and Maria Stark and steals the super serum, Stark had developed. Bucky was controlled back then by Colonel Vasily Karpov. He also helps him to train the new winter soldiers.
We see another flashback of Bucky’s missions as the Winter Soldier in FAWS. The assault at hotel Inessa, Russia, where he kills the witness RJ Nakajima.
There is also the story Natasha is telling about meeting the Winter Solider in about 2009:
Five years ago, I was escorting a nuclear engineer out of Iran, somebody shot out my tires near Odessa. We lost control, went straight over a cliff, I pulled us out, but the Winter Soldier was there. I was covering my engineer, so he shot him straight through me. A Soviet slug, no rifling.“
Another story was told by Isaiah Bradly in FAWS
In 1951, during the Korean War, the U.S. military found out that an enemy soldier managed to kill everyone they sent after him. As a result, the military deployed Bradley, their super soldier, to eliminate the threat. Bradley found his target to a bar in Goyang, who was none other than the Winter Soldier. While Bradley was unable to kill Winter Soldier, he was able to destroy half of his metal arm, after which Winter Soldier fled. This incident, among others, gained Bradley a reputation as one of HYDRA’s most feared enemies.
“We heard whispers he was on the peninsula, but everyone they sent after him, never came back. So the U.S. military dropped me behind the line to go deal with him.”

2014 Bucky is reactived by Alexander Pierce to play a part in Project Insight. Captain America Winter Soldier
Bucky and Steve fight each other and Steve recognises Bucky.
But the last we see from him is, when he leaves Steve on the shore of the river.
<actually, the last we see is Bucky glaring at his picture at the Smithonian Steve Rogers exhibition, but this is way more funny.>
Next we see Bucky turn up 2 years later in Bucharest, capital of Romania, where he was hiding in a cheap apartment. It is 2016. Captain America Civil War
Steve finds him there. After fleeing, Bucky is getting caught and interrogated.
After being activated again through trigger words, Baron Zemo uses him to take revenge against the Avengers. The show down against Tony Stark, whose parents Bucky had killed, creates a final split between the Avengers.
After escaping Tony and finding a home in Wakada, granted by T’Challa, Bucky goes again into cryo, since he is worried to be activated again and being used against his will. The time in cryo might be 6 months?
We see Bucky again at the end of Black Panther. It’s early 2017, In Black Panther Bucky is out of cryo and the trigger words are removed.
Ayo tests him and he doesn’t react to it anymore. About 6 years before FAWS.
A year later Bucky lives on a farm, taking care of the cattle, without a metal arm, until the events of the Infinity Wars. Bucky had some peace and quiet in Wakanda.
Bucky gets his new vibranium arm and follows T’Challa and the rest of the Avengers into battle against Thanos army. It’s May or June 2018. Avengers Infinity Wars
Bucky gets dusted and we see him again at the battle against Thanos 5 years later.
Avengers Endgame takes place October 2023.
And the last we see of Bucky is saying good bye to Steve Rogers in 2023, a little after the battle against the other Thanos at the Avengers compound.
Next we see Bucky 6 months later in Spring 2024, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, leading a civilian life in Brooklyn.
He is pardoned, has an assigned therapist, makes amends, is called Sergeant Barnes and starts to pester Sam Wilson over giving away the shield.
Bucky helps Sam fighting the Flag Smashers, Zemo and the new Captain America.
It ends with Bucky becoming part of the Wilson family and helping with repairing their boat, flirting with Sam and his sister Sarah. <Declaring he wants to move in with Sam, adliped by Sebastian Stan>.
The story of Bucky goes from 1936-2024.

So, I have to get the new dates together to continue this by using the new Captain America movie, when Bucky is running a campaign trail to become a congressman for Brooklyn.
He gives Sam moral support as Captain America. After all he has seen Steve trying this role and being chaotic.
Captain America Brave New World takes place 2026, 2 years after TFAWS.

We see Bucky again in The Thunderbolts*
Bucky really got elected. Obviously US voters have a soft spot for villains and bad guys, who have no political training.
This is 2027. Probably.
In Thunderbolts Valentina says Buckys is only at half term? as Congressman (full term 6 yrs), when he abandons his political career to become an Avenger. (Seb says he leaves it behind) Yet it is said the year is 2027. Bucky would be only for one year a congressman.
He is not the suave politian yet, as we can see in the scene, where repeats his aswers to the press. He doesn’t read the documents he gets.
Does Bucky say somewhere in the movie he is 109? Or was that Sebastian Stan at the promo tour?
Bucky joins the Thunderbolts to fight Valentina hands on, instead of through congress hearings.

Midcredit scene:
As the New Avengers the Thunderbolts obviously embrace marketing and have their team on a Wheaties cereal box, a national icon brand, which usually features sports people on their boxes.
This signals, The New Avengers is a serious move for the Thunderbolts team.

The New Avengers post credit scene, which is 14 months later. So 2028 or 2029.
It takes place at the New Avenger HQ at the old tower, the team has new suits and is in a legal battle with Sam over the Avenger brand.
They see the Fantasic 4 spaceship arrive….
…. so, does this mean we can expect new cameos of Bucky in Fanta4?
