Alexander Wang’s #WANG10 - DoSomething Portraits
To celebrate the brand’s 10th Anniversary this year, Alexander Wang launches portrait series shot by Steven Klein benefitting dosomething.org as a way of giving back.
The new collection has been showcased in a celebrity photoshoot; which includes model Cara Delevingne, musicians The Weeknd, Rod Stewart, Tyga and A$AP Rocky, actress Kristen Wiig, musician Kanye West and his wife the model and television personality Kim Kardashian and British supermodel Kate Moss.
Alexander Wang’s designs have been seen as youthful, street-wise and edgy. I am always excited for it’s new launches as I do appreciate its creative and energetic designs that would pretty much bring out my character. On a side note, both our name starts with the same initial: maybe that is also why I like the brand so much.
15 things a Singaporean Model learned from Milan/Paris Fashion Week
1. Eat BIGGG for breakfast Just in case you have no time to eat the whole day due to back-to-back castings all the way from 9am-9pm. Yes, it could be that insane! 2. Always be EARLY! Or else you will be all the way at the back of the queue... And good luck if you’re stuck in that situation. 3. Be prepared for the longggg waiting time. Open up your mind, be sociable and talk to people. Yes, keep making small talks as time goes faster that way and networking never hurts! (See #13!)
4. Patience! *Inner Peace...*
5. Party Animal? Do not get wasted the night before, or else you’ll look like crap. 6. Pack your own lunch on-the-go. Like a sandwich, salad or fruits. Please do not starve to look “good”. Stay healthy and strong-- think long term! 7. BE YOURSELF! 8. “I see your true colours shining through~” Don’t be afraid to show your personality at the castings. Even if the clients don’t use you eventually, they might remember you for a future opportunity. 9. Put some thoughts into your “OOTDs” As you might just end up in some streetstyle photo which is common during fashion week. (Okay, that’s really just the vain-pot side of me speaking.) 10. Wear comfortable shoes. As you will be walking/running around for castings and go-sees. I was literally running around with my Dr. Martens boots like it was meant to be legs day at the gym.
11. Do not compare yourself with anyone. Do embrace your own identity and know you are the special the way you are! 12. Pace yourself. You’re up at 6am and out until the early hours of the morning at events or fashion parties. It can take its toll over a few days, so learn to pace yourself.
13. The Art of Networking. Learn to strike conversations with new people. Make friends at events, fashion parties, or even while rushing between outfit changes backstage. It’s great fun, you meet some amazing people, get to experience things you’d never thought you will get to, and collect memories along the way. 14. Do not overthink. Keep calm and allow nature to take its course. Sometimes you’ll create a problem that wasn’t even there in the first place. The clients want different looks every season and you are can never be sure what they are looking for, so theres no point thinking too much about it. Just take the setbacks with a pinch of salt and keep positive. 15. “Fake it till you make it.” ... When all else fails ... HAHA!
