Andrew Flint 18 Summoning

"No like… Like empathy but for plants. Granted, their emotions are necessarily the most complex but they’re always there. Most people think I’m crazy for it but after being able to understand them for so long I’d rather be called crazy than be without my power." the redhead shrugged. "Or telekinetics," she added, "One minute you’re able to do everything without lifting a finger and next you actually have to use your hands. Insane.” she joked.

"Plants actually have emotions?" Andrew asked incredulously. "I mean, that's not absolutely insane or anything; I'm sure most living things can feel, whether they can communicate it or not. I just... haven't really thought of it that way before." He shrugged. "You make fun, but I'm sure if it was you, you'd be pretty angry. I'm not a telekinetic, and I already dislike doing stuff with my hands."

"The occasional demon." Giselle repeated with wide eyes, "How casual." she commented before shrugging, "I wouldn’t be so presumptuous as to say my power is better than anyone else’s but it’s just… It’s apart of me. I’m a plant manipulator and, I know this sounds weird, but it just feels off when I can’t… I can’t feel them. But then again, I doubt anything sounds off to someone who can summon monsters.”

"Feel them?" he asked, "What, like a plant radar?" Andrew furrowed his eyebrows, though somehow, he sort of understood where she was coming from. He never actually used his power, but he still felt slightly off with it gone; not entirely complete. "Nah, that's not weird. I'm sure it's something like the mediums must feel- like they had this whole other world that they could see and feel, and now it's gone."

"…I guess that chick with  the wings is okay. The last time I used mine, I made a dude named Manny pass out.”

"I haven't seen her around in a while; did her wings just, like, disappear when they turned on the negators? Or are they still there but inoperative? I'm insanely curious."

"That's... unfortunate. He's okay though? What exactly did you do?"

"I think we may all possibly be benefiting from you not summoning the devil. That’s one of those general bad for everyone experiences." Scarlett nodded with raised eyebrows, though her expression morphed quickly into one of curious thought. "Why don’t you ask if you can keep a bracelet all the time? If it’s that much of a hassle. There are other people here that do that."

"Yeah?" Andrew thought it over for a few moments. He'd seen students around sporting the flashy metal- most had just come back from isolation; the bracelets were sort of the academy's version of house arrest. But there were others that did it not by punishment, but by choice. They, or others, were convinced that their power posed a problem. He liked to think that he wasn't like them, that he could just suck it up and deal, but the relief that he felt wearing the bracelets, even for this short amount of time, was unlike anything he'd felt for a while. Plus they did look pretty badass. "That actually might not be too bad. You think they'd just let me keep it if I asked?"

"Some of them are pretty impressive though, you have to admit it; I might have been pretty pissed too if it were me. I'm gonna safely assume yours isn't something all that worthy of showing off?"

"At first I was fine with these negation devices.They add a touch of decoration. But now everyone’s bitching about them. Shut up and enjoy your fashionable  torture devices.”

"If it were my choice, I'd keep them on all the time. You know, 'cause they're so... fashionable and all. I don't see why everyone's so upset about it, honestly."

[scarlettniles]

"Yeah, you’re pretty horrible for wishing that. Think of all the people freaking out about having no power right now." There were quite a few of those people; some of whom refused to leave their rooms because they were unable to function without their abilities. "Personally I hate not having my power again. But I guess I can see how it’d be handy for some people’s to disappear overnight."

Andrew tried for a moment to think about all of the others that were actually hindered by the punishment, but the relaxation of not having to worry about his power for a week somehow prevented his usual amount of sentiment. "Yeah, uhm, I feel for you all, I really do, but I for one don't have to worry about accidentally summoning the devil for a week. I think I'm gonna try and enjoy that."

"Why? What’s your power? Is it something annoying — do you hulk out?" she asked with a chuckle but the raise of her eyebrows showed that she was genuinely interested in his answers. Giselle had never actually met someone who didn’t like their powers.

[andrewflints]

"Nah, although that would be really cool, to be honest. I sort of summon things from other dimensions," Andrew explained, clearing his throat afterward. "Apparently I can summon ghosts, monsters, the occasional demon... But I don't actually use it, so I wouldn't know. What about you? Must be something at least slightly better than mine or you wouldn't be so upset about it."

"God I can’t believe they’re doing this." Giselle groaned, "They just let one person ruin it for everyone, it’s so unfair. Without my powers I just feel so…. Naked." the redhead said with the shake of her head and a shudder.

[andrewflints]

"Well, I mean, they don't really know who did it, do they? Kind of hard to trace magic back to one person." Andrew shrugged, "I, for one, am not all too disappointed. I actually feel kinda relieved."

"-No powers and no power training?" Andrew heaved a sigh of relief, hearing the announcement, and glanced over at the person standing next to him. "Is it wrong to wish this week would never end?"

[scarlettniles]

"Hey! Can you just — I need to get over there.” Scarlett called out, clambering to the other side of the couch and reaching out to grab the person who was walking past. For a second her footing wavered and she was sure she was going to fall off, an almost inaudible squeak of fear leaving her mouth. When she managed to steady herself and return her attention to the person in front of her, she looked somewhat stressed. “I need a piggy back. I can’t touch the floor.”

Andrew glanced back and forth between Scarlett and the floor. "You know, I'd love to, really, but I can't. New shirt, there's no way I'm letting you wrinkle it. Plus I'm usually the one receiving favors rather than handing them out. Guess some people are just too good for that. And by 'some people', I mean me. Exclusively." Andrew nonchalantly adjusted his tie, one he hadn't worn since the last school dance that he attended, freshman year. For some reason, he thought he looked way too good this morning just to ruin it with his usual garb. "Sure you can't just... walk? Like a normal person? I mean, it's not like walking on water or anything. Though I'm sure I could do that if I tried."

Diva? Me? No, I'm simply the best! For the next two days you will be incredibly self-absorbed to the point of narcissism, unable to stop talking about wonderful you are and demanding only the best of everything.

Narcissism? I prefer the term "I'm fabulous and I know it".

As the laughter filled the room, Myla’s embarrassment grew. Still, she couldn’t help the slight tug at her lips as her own embarrassment was a source of amusement for another. Curiosity sparked as he offered a way for her to redeem herself. It would be fairly easy to move with their combined strength, but that was a hindrance. Telekinesis was fairly versatile. “I could just move it myself.” With a shrug of her shoulders, the bed rose above the ground and began to move to the designated spot. The bed traveled through the air, before softly landing with a light thud. Her eyes rose, almost looking for approval before she spoke once more. “How’s that?”

Andrew's line of sight followed the floating bed, lingering for a moment after it had returned to the ground. "That-" he peeled his eyes away to face Myla, "-...works too." He envied her in that moment, having an ability that was of some use to her. Must be nice to be a normal mutant. Whatever a normal mutant was. "I'm assuming you have telekinesis. Unless you snuck into my room beforehand and attached wires or something to impress me."

The girl bit back a grin at the repeated word, proud that on some level, she probably accurately described the outside world. She’d think of a better word, eventually. “Which is why I prefer the stuffy comfort of… pretty much any couch on this campus.”

As the boy somewhat pouted over the subject of food, Delia scoffed before dramatically sighing. “Fine, fine. As soon as I get food, you can have some. Unless you don’t like Butterfingers, because that’s most of my blood and I refuse to change.”

"I can't blame you, they're pretty comfortable couches. Though if I could avoid ever getting out of bed at all, that's always best. But couches work too." Andrew raised an eyebrow in amusement, leaning his shoulder against the wall. Butterfingers. He had only just had breakfast before wandering off to the common room, but the mention of candy bars almost made him want to head straight back for the kitchen. "Butterfingers are sufficient. So are Reeses, peanut M&Ms, and anything else to do with chocolate, really. Just in case you happen to come across a vending machine any time soon."

The sound of a boys voice is startling, solely because she often forgot boys existed. Not in a cruel way, just in a “boys don’t see me, I don’t see boys" sort of way. The moment the words register in her head, Delia feels almost like less of a complete loner or loser.

"It makes you a pale— but awesome— loser. Because outside is just… yuck.” She tried to make it clear that she wasn’t using the term as an insult. Loser in her book was pretty top notch, as far as labels went. It could have been worse, with what everyone was in the school for. “I would give you some sort of food as a prize if, y’know, I had any. Maybe. Probably not.”

The fact that she once again called him a loser somehow brought a smile to his face. "Yuck," he repeated, letting the word sit for a moment. "I'm trying to think of a better way to describe it, but I'm coming up blank. Outside is extremely yuck, not gonna lie." Andrew crossed his arms, not really in an annoyed way, but more just for comfort. "No food? What do you mean, I thought we were losers together? Does that mean nothing to you?"

She didn’t have to open to her eyes to know she had screwed up. Sure, the school was big, but she could have at least known it was the boys dorm. Out of curiosity, she peeked through the gaps between her fingers, in hopes of it being a familiar face. It certainly wasn’t. The poor soul seemed more shocked than anything. She practically scrambled to collect her books, already feeling the embarrassment creep across her cheeks. "Ah, fuck—I’m sorry. I’m Myla, but I’m also really sorry.” Her words were frantic, and she felt a little odd being so… out of order. Myla could easily run on little sleep, but this was a first. Walking into boys dorms, thinking it was her biology class, was definitely a first. “I’m fine, just, uh… jet lagged.” There was another pause, as if she had to reassure herself of what she had said. “I got back from Milan this morning, and I still need to sleep. Obviously.”

He didn't want to laugh at that moment. He really didn't, but something about the entire situation caused a quiet, yet intoxicating laugh to escape his throat. "As odd as it is, it's nice to meet you, Myla. I'm Andrew. And maybe I'll forgive you if you help me get this bed-" A finger came to point toward it, "-into that corner." Andrew felt slightly out of place being the one- for once- to recieve the awkward rather than the one to dish it out. A hint of jealousy came over him, hearing about her travels. He had spent the entire summer with his adoptive family, awkwardly attempting to revive relationships that had died as soon as his abilities came to surface. "Milan? Are you serious?"

There was an overwhelming calm that washed over Delia when she actually started hearing people arrive back at the school. A great many had left off to experience a vacation somewhere that wasn’t the Academy. Unfortunately, Delia wasn’t one of those lucky people. Her brother was far too preoccupied with a life she had no place in any longer and her mother— no. Still reading the book in her hands, she stood from the couch in one of the common rooms and stood near a hallway, finally ready to greet people who were back.

"If you currently have an amazing tan, please shove it. If you do not, please inform so I can be a pale loser with you." She still didn’t raise her head, not wanting to feel or show any of her accidental jealousy.

Andrew simply wanted to relax in one of the common rooms for a bit before unpacking his fairly large boxes into his new room. He wasn't exactly expecting anyone to speak to him, so the girl's voice directly in front of him was more or less startling. "-Tan?" he repeated, glancing from side to side to check for others that she could possibly be addressing. No one. "Uhm, no. I'm not exactly one for long hours in the outdoors. Does that make me a pale loser?"
