Friday is the New Tuesday

Beginning this summer, the worldwide record industry will begin dropping new releases on Fridayâs instead of Tuesdayâs setting a standard global release date.
Announced on Thursday, Feb. 26th, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, a British-based organization which essentially serves as the United Nations of the music industry, revealed record releases will be moving from Tuesday to Friday in an effort to decrease piracy rates, allow artists to focus their social-media campaigns, and âre-ignite excitement and a sense of occasion around the release of new music,â according to IFPIâs statement.

Bethlehem Steel - Grow Up

I know Iâm about a bit over a year late writing a review for Grow Up, but I couldnât resist the idea of doing so. Brooklyn-based band, Bethlehem Steel, one our better finds while perusing the k-hole that is Bandcampâs âDiscover" section, have been together since Oct. 2012. Current members Rebecca Ryskalczyk, Zephyr Prusinski, and Jon Gernhart had known each other from former bands (Zona Mexicana, Longitude, Paulâs Grandfather) throughout their college years, and upon meeting up in New York City, formed Bethlehem Steel. Â The band has since released their debut EP Grow Up in June 2013 on Miscreant Records.

PhotoEssay: Riding with New Paltz Rescue Located at 74-78 North Putt Corners Road is the New Paltz Rescue Squad, New Paltzâ local Emergency Medical Service (EMS) provider. New Paltz Rescue Squad offers 24 hour emergency care and transportation for sick and injured persons. Established in 1973, NPRS started service with one vanstyle ambulance. Currently, the Rescue Squad operates three ALS (Advanced Life Support) ambulances, one BLS (Basic Life Support) auto extrication rescue vehicle, one ALS emergency service vehicle, and one BLS emergency service vehicle.
Their primary geographic operating area includes the Village and Town of New Paltz, the State University of New York at New Paltz, and a 10-mile section of the New York State Thruway. They also provide care to Mohonk Mountain House and eldercare facilities, Woodland Pond and Mountain View Nursing Home.
NPRS began as an all-volunteer organization, remaining so until September 1996. Today, the New Paltz Rescue Squad maintains a 95% volunteer membership making it possible to employ paramedics, EMTs and a business administrator. Throughout the first week of May 2014, New Paltz Rescue Squad opened their doors, allowing me to ride-along on three separate 8-hour shifts, and photo document staff, crew, and consenting patients.

Adrian Lau
Andrew Frey, April 4, 2014
Photo from Adrian Lauâs Facebook.
In 2012 Adrian Lau released âNo Worries,â a track that screams âNew York!â With strong lyrical content and an even stronger beat, âNo Worriesâ new school sound revealed Lauâs ability to not only write, but produce his own music. The music video features footage from his hometown with Adrian Lau spitting in front of the now closed Mei Dick Barbershop. At the chorus, Lau says âIf I make it, wellâŠâ to a responding female vocalist singing, âyou wonât have to worry.â Lauâs ambition had the talent to match.
