Immigrant interview

I interviewed my Neighbor, who is a native of Saint Lucia. Saint Lucia is an island in the Caribbean. She moved to the United States to further her education and have a better life. She moved here when she was young, about 19 years old. She had aspirations of being a beautician and she figured the states was the best place to go to school. She said that the change from Saint Lucia to New York was drastic. Saint Lucia is small and New York is big, fast pace, something is always going on. Another drastic change she stated was the climate change, coming from a place where its’ always sunny to the freezing cold. Some barriers that she experienced was the drug epidemic going on in the U.S. when she got here, people were always dying, and this was a new to her.

The ingriedents of Twix are sugar, glucose syrup , flour , vegetable fat, milk solids, cocoa butter, cocoa mass, cocoa powder, salt, smulsifier(soy lecithin), raising agent (500), natural flavours (vanilla extract). The Fairtrade Cocoa Program, which was launched in partnership with Mars Chocolate Germany for their TWIX brand in 2014, specifically aims to deliver more opportunities for cocoa farmers to sell on Fairtrade terms and connect them with businesses that actively support efforts to improve farmer livelihoods. It was released in the United States in 1979 and in 1983 the Twix PB (peanut butter) version was introduced. The unit price of twix is 1.00 a bar. Some children in Cote d’Ivoire are forced to work in terrible conditions against their will, picking cocoa beans that make their way into Mars company sweets. A class action lawsuit sought to force Mars company candy bar labels to disclose the fact that child slaves may have picked the cocoa beans that went into these chocolates.

Fans at a Maryland school’s baseball game were taunting the players from the opposing team with attacks to the players families income. Going as far as yelling “can’t your parents afford to feed you” and “you’ll work for us someday.” So in this area, there is a clear distinction between social classes. Not a far-cry from Marx’s ideas of the oppressor and the oppressed, especially when going back to the “you’ll work for me” comments. What was also being observed through school bullying was lunch shaming to children who were receiving free or reduced lunch.

While this schools handling of this issue or lack there of points to the commercialization of childhood which makes it clear who gets shiny new things and who doesn’t. Other schools are making an effort to show kids that the differences in social class are not something humorous. Students visited each others houses to see how each other were living and appreciating each others culture and background.

Starting on the left its my mom and father. Then it leads to my aunt on my mother side to my four cousins. One of my cousins are deceased and one had a baby. The other side is my mother parents which led to my aunts and uncles to my cousins. What’s missing is my father side of the family because both of his parents are deceased. Ive never met anyone of his side.

I chose to do my dorm hall lounge (O’Connell). I chose to do the lounging area because I rarely sit in the area like others. But the lounging area is a place where the guys and some outsiders come to relax, watch tv, play games , and much more. I realized that the area is set up like a theater and every chair had a little table on it. I also realized the vending machine never works. I expected to find others in the area because usually when I am not in the area it’s a lot of others there and not only resident but individuals from other dorm halls. It was a very quite place during the time, very clean, smelled normal. On weekdays there’s a lot of people in the lounge area but on weekends it’s barley people because everyone decide to go home for the weekend.

What is an apple watch?

A apple watch is a smartwatch designed by the company Apple. It has fitness tracking and some of the same functions as an Apple Iphone such as imessage and Apple music.

Who invented the Apple watch?

In February 2015, the design for the Apple watch was released. The industrial designer behind the watch is a London native, Jonathan Ive. Ive is Apple’s Chief Design Officer and has led Apple’s design team since 1996.

Where are Apple watches made?

Majority of Apple products are designed in California. They are composed of parts from East Asia, Europe, North America, and China. 95% of Apple appliances are assembled in China. The Apple watch is made by a company in Taiwan called Quanta.

Impact on my personal life:

I own an Apple watch and I use it for its most simple purpose which is to be a watch. It doesn’t have that much of an impact on my life or the lives of people around me. I believe that people wear the watch for style purposes more than any other purpose. The watch has functions that can track your steps and watch how much you exercise, which is another reason people may purchase an Apple watch.

This is an example of flexible accumulation because the image give info on how many Popeyes , KFC, and burger kings are outside of the United States. Placing their company restaurants in different areas in the world to increase their company income.

This is an example of increasing migration because transportation has improved overtime, enabling individuals to travel to different parts of the world creating a diverse in communities all over the world.

This is an example of uneven development because it shows the advancement in building structure on side and poor structure on the other. Similar to one of the riches countries in the world beside one of the poorest countries in the world.

This is an example of time space compression because it shows that with technology the older woman was told to save her money, due to the fact that it’ll be cheaper on a cellphone or laptop and she will be able to listen to the song as many times as she wants.
