Along with Canada, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be making its way to the UK, where the device is slated to launch September 12, and Germany, with availability set to commence on September 29. The unlocked version of the device is available for pre-order for £500 ($805) from Clove and Unlocked Mobiles. Expansys is also carrying the SIM-free variant, although it is costlier at £515 ($830).
Expansys is stocking all five color variants. The carrier-free version might not be available at the same time, however, as Clove and Unlocked Mobiles state that first stock is due to arrive sometime during the last week of September.
Carphone Warehouse has the device for pre-order, with monthly plans starting at ÂŁ33. The retailer has Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Scuba Blue and Sleek Silver variants on offer, with an estimated delivery date of September 12. Smartphone Wars : iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5
With the iPhone6′s release just around the corner Samsung is going all out on its advertising and marketing efforts to get a lead over Apple’s new smartphone. Galaxy S5 is older by a few months but they do not want to rest on their laurels and want to make sure that they will be the winner in the biggest smartphone war of 2014. How exactly will iPhone 6 fare against the Galaxy S5? With the newer version of the Android OS being upgraded to the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat which is a bombshell in a nutshell, Apple may have something to worry about. If iOS 8 is anything like iOS 7 iPhone6 will have to bow down to Galaxy S5.
Operating System
The  software upgrade for Galaxy 5s promises to fix all previous bugs, reviews claim that the upgraded version runs ultra-smooth, fast and with improvements on the interface that makes it look sleek and elegant. Google did not follow Nestle Kitkat’s tag line “Take a Break” because with how good the 4.4.4 Kitkat has turned out it looks like they did not stop until they got it right. Boot up speed of 20 seconds while iPhone 5s which runs the latest iOS version clocks in at 24 secs, iOS 8 may be able to get the same boot up speed but this is yet to be proven upon its release.
Display
The iPhone 6′s display is probably one of its best feature, with a 1704 x 960 pixel display that creates a pixel density of 416ppi (pixels per inch). Samsung’s AMOLED technology is not too far behind, if it had its previous 1080 x 1920 pixels, (~432 ppi pixel density) it would have beaten the competitor hands down.
Battery Life
On the final lap this is where Galaxy S5 may get the gold. Battey life is most likely to be iPhone 6′s waterloo, even in older versions this has been an issue. iPhone 6′s 1800 mah is a far cry from the s5′s 2800 mAh, this spells the difference between the two smartphones. In fact, Samsung’s latest advertising focuses in this unfortunate weakness, “wall huggers”, a funny way to put the weakness into light. The advert shows Galaxy users roaming around with their smartphone having the time of their life while the iPhone users are all plugged in and “hugging” the wall.
Ultimately, consumers are seriously awaiting the release of iPhone 6 because everyone wants to know how good this new version will be. Looking at the facts it looks like iPhone 6 will be a close second to the Galaxy S5 in the most heated smartphone war of 2014.

New Moto X edition with unlockable bootloader
According to a report from Phandroid, the new Moto X will come in a bootloader-unlocked version with full MotoMaker support. The trend toward releasing “Developer Edition” flagship phones with unlocked bootloaders included last year’s Moto X, though you could only get it in black or white. This year you can apparently enjoy all the customization goodies MotoMaker has to offer, including the new leather backplates.
What this basically amounts to is a phone you can customize like no other, with all the benefits that a Nexus phone offers in near-instant Android updates and a “fastboot OEM unlock” bootloader. It’s only a matter of time before we see custom recoveries such as TWRP and ClockworkMod as well as custom ROMs such as CyanogenMod.
It could arguably be better than a Nexus, especially if you can activate it on Verizon’s network (I would be surprised if Verizon ever carried a Nexus phone again).
As a reminder, the 16GB standard Moto X will put a $499-sized dent in your wallet, but we don’t know how much the 32GB MotoMaker one will cost. As with last year’s “Developer Edition” flagship phones, you can expect to pay full retail for the bootloader-unlockable New Moto X – carriers aren’t about to subsidize them anytime soon.
Incidentally, while it’s always nice to see OEMs release a development-friendly edition of a flagship phone, it’s a shame that such a thing would be necessary at all. You can thank Motorola themselves for helping to usher in the locked bootloader era with the Droid X and Droid 2.
Also, you can thank primarily AT&T and Verizon for locking down all their flagship phones by default and disabling even official OEM-sponsored bootloader unlock solutions such as HTCDev.

How Virtual reality makes a Samsung Happy !
Earlier on, Samsung declared Gear VR, a video game telephone receiver that uses the company's Galaxy Note four phone and software package from sensory receptor VR. consistent with Oculus' Chief Technical Officer John Carmack, obtaining that software package to run on a mobile device was no simple task.
"There’s the traditional hell of moving to a replacement platform—and I gotta say, humanoid was additional hell to maneuver to than most consoles I’ve adopted," Carmack told Gamasutra in AN interview. "Just owing to the manner Google needs to position things across a various hardware spectrum, and since Google still doesn’t extremely endorse native code development—they’d still rather everybody worked in Java. And that’s a invulnerable position, however it’s by no means what you would like to be doing on a resource-constrained VR system. thus brace yourself: humanoid setup and development extremely will suck. It’s no fun in the slightest degree."
According to Carmack, another challenge that shocked him was however vital power management wasn't solely to battery life, however performance. Taking full advantage of all four cores of the device's electronic equipment, he said, overheats it at intervals minutes.
Carmack aforesaid that the set up at the instant is that the device can give notice users as it's getting ready to overheat, giving them the choice to either finish the session there, or amendment to low-power settings if the sport is capable of adapting to them.
"The power issue goes to be an enormous battle, and it’s getting to be fascinating to envision as a result of we have a tendency to don’t grasp nevertheless what number folks can like smaller nuggets of recreation experiences rather than longer-form things," Carmack aforesaid. "We’re hoping developers create plenty of short, bite-sized nuggets of recreation as a result of they work well on mobile—they don’t tax the thermal and power such a lot, and that they even have another benefit: since we have a tendency to don’t have point chase on mobile, we all know we’re getting to cause issues for additional sensitive folks."
One of the best things a couple of mobile VR device, Carmack aforesaid, is that it'll create VR additional approachable, permitting developers to simply demo their games or applications while not having to hold around a computer. Carmack conjointly noted that the Note four hardware is "way, manner higher than DK1." However, he aforesaid that it'll need plenty additional improvement from game developers, Samsung, and mobile game engines like Unity and Unreal Engine four.

Android One and Global Market Domination
Android is already holding a very large chunk of the market and with the release of the Android One its competitors may very well be having sleepless nights. Android One will launch in India in mid-September and rumor has it that it will release smartphones that are unbelievably cheap. With Apple and Samsung already having trouble keeping up with plunging smartphone prices Android One may very well be the last straw.
The plan is to design low cost but good quality smartphones that use the Android One platform. Google is yet to unveil the actual handsets and designs and end users are on lying in wait for the launch. Â In line with the upcoming launch Google has already sent out press invites and the excitement about this upcoming event is palpable.
Google Partners With Media Tek
Google’s goal of flooding the market with budget phones using the Android One platform is one step closer to fruition with its partnership with Media Tek. Significantly cheaper than other chipsets in the market, Media Tek is the most popular choice of smartphone manufacturers.  As part of the partnership deal Media Tek will have access to all the latest Android software and firmware. Google’s vision to provide low cost phones for the C and D market is expected to be realized with this new partnership.
The Chosen OEMs
Micromax, Karbonn and Spice have been announced as the official manufacturers for the Android One project. These Indian owned companies have been designated to mass produce low cost smartphones powered by Android One. The low priced handsets packed with the power of Android is expected to boost Android’s market share sky high.  In developing countries like India, owning a smartphone is a luxury, but that is about to change. When these three manufacturers start producing the Android One powered smartphones  a huge change in the market will be inevitable. What used to be a luxury will soon be affordable to even the minimum wage earners. Google is yet to choose more manufacturers to be involved in the production of Android One powered smartphones.
What’s in it for Google?               Â
Surely Google is set to gain something from this project or they would not have funded such an ambitious venture. It’s really simple, more smartphones users means more people having access to the internet and more people will be able to access Google’s suite of products. On default, Android One will be feeding Google products and using Google search for anything that the end user tries to find in the internet. This effectively boosts Google’s appeal to advertisers as well as increases the potential sales in all of Google based products.
Ultimately the Android One is a genius of a project, a win win situation for all the players. Manufacturers get more business and Google will make a possible market domination with the low cost smartphones. Its a simple decision for consumers to make, get a popular $700 iPhone or a $100 smartphone that technically does pretty much the same thing. To know more read the updated Android articles and News.

A few hard-to-google wonderings
Google has a lot of interesting products and platforms. But many of them sort of cover the same bases:
What is Android in relation to Chrome OS? For us and for Google. What is the big plan? Is there a big plan?
What is Chromecast in relation to Google TV? What is Chromecast in relation to Android or Chrome OS? For us and for Google. What is the big plan? Is there a big plan? According to GigaOM, Google is about to rebrand and re-build Google TV into Android TV. That clears up the relationship between Android and Google TV, but not how Google/Android TV fits with Chromecast.
I guess time (and Google) will tell.Â

This is Nokia’s Android phone | The Verge
Codenamed Normandy, and known internally at Nokia under a number of other names, the handset is designed as the next step in low-end phones from the Finnish smartphone maker.
Apt codename, but with Microsoft as the new owner of Nokia’s phone business, I won’t hold my breath for the Normandy to reach the market. Even though Nokia’s low end Asha “smartphones” really could use some Android flavour.
