general blog info. + intro

✦ hiya! i'm the lil rat behind the blog. i mainly go by the name tex these days. i'm 20 years old (as of 4/3/24), and i go by they/he mostly. though, i really go by any pronouns other then she/her. i am also aroace!!

✦ other then that, i would consider myself an equine enthusiast. i am not currently able to house any other livestock besides beef cattle, so my horseboy dreams will have to wait for a few more years. my favorite breeds as of the day i'm writing this are friesians and, obviously, andalusians. ugh. i think if a blue roan rabicano friesian / andalusian ever existed i would be willing to sell several organs to get my grubby lil hands on it. it's actually my favorite coat, though it only exists inside specific breeding instances as far as i'm aware.

✦ anyway, my main mc is kara ghosthawk !! i play on the freezing crater, if you ever see me come say hi! i tend to afk longer then i play though, so if i don't respond i have probably forgotten that i'm even on the game. i'm usually on my main horse who's the umbra model! i am also a MAJOR sabine simp. i know she's evil, but i am willing to forgive and forget 😊

barkhart redesign (kinda)

she's not entirely a redesign, but can be classed as one. mainly my owns aspects / what i would've wanted had the sakura barkhart been more late-game.

honestly props to sso for making hanami a bigger horse, but.. percheron was not the greatest choice imo (i could yap all day about my rage surrounding the fumbling of their own design and release choices)

i may incorporate this design into my main story / comic, but i gotta be honest, sso is not something i enjoy at the moment. and i'm not sure if it will ever be a full interest again. this actually took seven months to complete..

my intital plan was to take the main body of hanami and incorporate it, but i've come to realize i actually despise the full body bark texture. it just,, looks so clunky.

the world would be a better place had this beauty not been a part of sso's barkhart promotional scheme. justice for my girl !!

did i wait almost a year for a new quest? yes. was it worth it? kinda

however i'm surprised by myself because i actually like erissa so far. yea her design is a lil weird, but the whole hobby horse thing is actually really interesting (i am more interested in the hobby horse itself then her though i will admit)

i also noticed something interesting during her intro in-game. i'm not sure if it's intentional or not because i have not kept up with anything game related since late 2023 but the white textures / hair on erissa's horse actually look like real hide and mane grafted onto the yarn? and the nails in the hooves?? ohh it's giving me vibes similar to the doll scene in coralline. i really hope nihili gets some lore and isn't just a plot design for erissa

i survived long covid !! (i think)

(i can finally post the actually finished blog)

i would like to apologize for the lack of content since december!! i've been really struggling to finish any of my projects that are star stable related. between the several month gap of soul rider quests and the drama with the developers i'm genuinely starting to hate this game. the bugs make the gameplay really unpleasant and feels more like a chore to play for more then a few minutes. which, frankly, sucks. it's a cruddy feeling knowing you're losing interest in a game you've played religiously for the last five years.

that being said, i've decided i'm gonna start posting a bit of different content in between sso posts. it'll mainly consist of wild horse island doodles, since it's a game i've found some peace in. everything will stay horse game centric tho <3

anyway, i wanted to share kara and dagon's updated reference + some mini bios! they haven't changed too much, but i feel like it's a healthy practice to give them fresh shiny new refs every now and then !! i'll be posting some designs and sneak peaks for my dark rider!au fairly soon, so if that's something you're interested, feel free to stick around !!
