eyes, bright and blue and true, slowly blinked open, blearily squinting at the light of the alarm clock perched on his nightstand. 3:16. naruto groaned, rubbing the sleep from his eyes with the back of his hand while also begging for said sleep to come back to him. it was far too early for him to be awake.
his day was gonna be crammed back of meetings and bullshit he didn't want to deal with. he knew kakashi was counting down what time he had leftover as his reign of hokage until he could shove the title and hat at him and he could go back into blessed obscurity and peace yet again.
naruto couldn't blame him. he knew, to borrow shikamaru's favorite saying, "what a drag" being hokage would be. his younger self craved it for the validation and acceptance and respect and power, but with everything that's happened between when he nothing but twelve year old, snot-nosed, belligerent genin to the young adult he was now, he knew it was far more than what he bargained for.
his heart lurched painfully at the thought of jiraiya, and he missed him more and more everyday. he thought of his parents, of bright blue and amethyst eyes, of spun gold and fiery red, of love denied and offered and lost again, of a previous life of loneliness and suffering and anger and desperation masked behind a sunny smile and obnoxious, attention-seeking behavior.
he thinks about the days where he was reviled and hated and despised with an intensity of a thousand suns, how he was trashed and left to fend for himself. and how those same people "love" him. he's a hero, he's the fourth hokage's beloved son and legacy, he was his mother's heart, the child of prophecy, a student of the legendary sannin and brought the senju princess and sannin back home. he was a hero!
and yet, all of that felt hollow. or, it's like he was at an impasse. who was with him for the him beneath the accolades and who only liked him for the surface level shit?
he was startled out of his thoughts with the weight nestled on top of him shifted, soft, delicate hands cupping his face. sleepy lavender eyes peered up at him, doe-like and serene and this was love. this was all of the good and love and wonders and splendors of the world he was chasing and looking for all over and here it was, right in front of him, but also already within him too.
"i can hear how hard you're thinking," hinata teased sleepily, a cozy smile on her face. naruto growled playfully, not hesitating to press their lips together in a series of sweet kisses that got spicier and spicier until naruto shifted their positions so that he was on top. and they never stopped kissing, the delicious fever burning between them only getting hotter and hotter.
hands teased her thighs, and when he didn't feel the fabric barrier covering his prize, he jerked back, flushed and pleasantly surprised.
hinata was blushing fiercely, but kept his gaze.
"you're gonna be busy later so i just thought-"
and he kissed her so hard their teeth clacked. this was heaven in the form of the beautiful, shy young woman who loved him from the beginning, before all the fame and fortune and accolades and collective acceptance.
