Her heart went to her mouth at the sight of her youngest child. Blood. There was blood on her stomach. Bile risen from her throat at the sight of the injury but emotional training won. She hurriedly approach her daughter, already assessing the gravity of the injury.

“Let’s go see Auntie Ino immediately”. She positioned her on the tatami and started to rummage for their first aid kit.

With a rusty taste in her mouth, Shikani had her eyebrows furrowed as she focused on staying calm, she knew if she panicked it would speed her heart, pumping more blood, thus, creating more blood loss. “can we keep this a secret from dad? It doesn't hurt, mom you're looking rather pale”.

Though, it did hurt, it hurt like absolute hell, and blood was evident in her mouth, either from biting down on her tongue or the bleeding inside. But she understood to not remove the object. Plenty of Ninja have been wounded this way before.

The young Nara sighed softly. “mom, calm down, please. I'm okay, I'm not dead, but I do taste blood”

Her features soften at how brave her daughter is. She knew how painful that wound is, she was a shinobi too. She disinfected her hand and proceeded to immobilize the kunai. She didn’t speak but she can hear her daughter trying to appease her.

She focused on cleaning the wound first. She elevated her feet to the chair for the blood to continue to circulate to her brain. She turned her head to left, she doesn’t want her daughter to asphyxiating.

The kunai was secured in place and her daughter was still conscious. She muttered a silent prayer and calmed her heart.

“Your father might strangle me if I keep it on from him. You’re his princess” she kissed her daughters forehead, lingering a little longer than necessary.

“I already called Auntie Ino. She’s coming to remove that kunai. Mom doesn’t want to damage your organs. Next we call the hospital fawn, we need to see if you need blood transfusion”.

Shikani seemed to keep the brave facade on even as she knew this was able to cause internal and possibly permanent damage or even death. She relaxed completely, but kept herself aware of her surroundings and everything that could happen.

“I know, I may be the little princess but I promise I'll be okay. Can we go get soba after all this?” she asked softly, tying to think positive, and oh man, she wanted some soba.

As she waited, she could feel light-headed. “Yeah, blood transfusion. . . ”

“We’d get whatever you want, baby. Just hang in there, deep breaths and no more talking”.

“i prefer talking” she yawned before taking a deep breath. “mom, can you sing to me?”

“Anything for you, fawn”. She started to sing a lullaby, controlling her voice to make sure it won’t break.

It was undeniable that there was a pain in her side as she listened to her mother's voice. A grin forming on her face as she recalled the lullaby from her childhood and being tucked in at night.

Beautiful. Temari was simply a wonderful mother.

She kneeled down and gave her daughter a kiss. @angclshadows “Did you and Dai had a fight again?”

“Don’t say sorry to me baby, go apologize to your brother”. Temari thought that her apology was hilarious. The kid’s reasoning is logical - it’s the Shikamaru in her but the kid’s method is brutal - it’s her genes.

“No more fighting, you two get along”.

“do I have to apologise to him?” she pouted her bottom lip as her big teal eyes peered up at her mother. “I don't wanna, he should apologise for provoking me". Man, six year olds shouldn't even know this vocabulary but here she was using that Nara brain.

Now she was looking her husband with those pouting cheeks. She can’t help but squeeze them eagerly.

“You must and you will”.

Scrunching her nose, Shikani puffed her cheeks out to try and repress the squeezing of her chubby face. “hey! That's my face, stoppit!”

“Stop looking like a Nara then. I swear you act like me but you look like them”. She squeezed her cheeks even harder.

“I can't help that his genes said no to yours” she huffed, wondering what she would look like if she had her mother's hair color as well. “. . . I wish I looked more like you mama, you're so beautiful” Ani gently moved her hands on top of Temari's

“You’re beautiful. Even more than Mommy, remember that. Dad and Shikadai looks handsome, right? You got those from them”. She moved a stray lock from her face. “Mommy has weird features”.

Ani shook her head before placing her hand on her own nose. “this is yours”. She responded before pointing at her eyes, “and these are yours too”. She whispered, and finally, she touched her own ears. “and so are these. Mommy you're an angel and everything I wanna be when I'm older. You're my hero”.

In that exact moment, Temari wasn’t sure if she could ever love someone as much as she loves her children. Such innocent statements made her heart double in size.

“You’re my hero too baby. You saved Mommy”. And that was the truth. Her daughter was a blessing, just when they thought they can’t have more. This little miracle came into their life.

“But don’t be like Mommy too much”

“Thank you for being my mommy. I'm glad I have a family like ours, I'm so happy and wanna always make mommy proud!” she exclaimed, of course, she was still a child, so sometimes, more often than not, she had a very childish demeanor. “why not be like mommy too much? You're strong and beat up bad guys!”

You’re Mommy had done terrible things too. She stared at the same eyes she sees everyday in the mirror.

“You’re going to grow up and be better and stronger than Mommy. You’re are going to surpass me baby. And I’d help you with every step”. She held her daughter again in her arms. People had call them doting parents but they can’t help it. Their children meant the world - and they asked for the world itself, Temari will try to give them just that.

Shikani's own teal eyes held a sense of innocence to them as she peered up at her mother, a soft surprised look on her face. “surpass my mommy? The greatest Kunoichi ever?” she thought out loud before smiling. “I promise I'll make you proud!”
