we shouldn’t need it spoon-fed to us. we should be able to see things without them being explicitly told to us. we should be able to pick up on nuance. we should know in our hearts that Ca$h Piggott is without a doubt asexual.

it’s fucking hard to come out. it is even fucking harder when you don’t know what it is that you’re coming out as. when you’re just “trying to figure shit out.” @ghoststations made the incredible point that Ca$h has spent pretty much his whole life entrenched in this shitty white boy subculture of racism and homophobia and there is literally no reason why he would ever have heard the word “asexual” before. the fact that he doesn’t say the word doesn’t mean anything!

this portrayal is real. it’s raw. and sure, some of the time, it’s absolutely fucking heartbreaking, but that’s how it is in the beginning, isn’t it? it’s fucking scary. you don’t know what you are and you don’t know why you are, and ignorant people say ignorant things. if we get more seasons, i am so fucking sure that he will learn how to embrace it. i am so fucking sure that we will get more than the heartbreak that often comes in the beginning.

because gay representation on television started out tragic, too! Rickie Vasquez wasn’t “bad representation” when he was kicked out of his house for his sexuality in 1994. Jack McPhee wasn’t “bad representation” when he was threatened with conversion therapy by his father in 1998. they were absolutely fucking groundbreaking characters whose impacts were truly incredible. And now we have Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring! We have those gays from the pirate show! We have Robin Buckley in her won’t go down in history but will go down on your sister sneakers! We have faithful representations of queer people that are able to focus on the positive aspects of being queer because of characters like Rickie and Jack who came before them and paved the way!

Ca$h’s story is so fucking important. it’s the first time I’ve ever seen someone like me onscreen, and if all you motherfuckers do is react to this absolutely fucking groundbreaking rep with negativity and criticism, he might not get a second chance.

Today I read about a 17 year old girl who died recently. I didnt recognise her name, but I recognise her face.

I used to work at Subway, and I remember her. She would come in every Friday with her friends and order a tuna sandwich, double cheese and toasted. I knew her order off by heart because it was all she ever ordered, and she would always be very polite. I never knew her name until today.

I haven't seen her since I quit working there, 3 years ago. But I remember her and I remember her voice and her order and how polite she was and how I was always jealous of her hair. Now she will never order another 6 inch tuna sub and that is really upsetting me.
