People who shame female superhero costumes for utility purposes should consider the said superheroes wearing them for aesthetic purposes. Like, could Black Canary fight crime better without fishnets? Probably. But Dinah Lance doesn’t like wearing parents and fishnets look a lot cooler. Should Wonder Woman wear pants? Maybe. But it’s been established that Wonder Woman’s costume is a religious garment that ties back to amazon history. Is Huntresses belly window completely unpractical? Yes. But who are we to tell her she can’t show off her abs. Like believe me, I get it, comic books can be sexist. I just feel like some people get so caught up in the fact that a costume isn’t pratical that they forget that sometimes characters don’t want to be.

While the “my fav has the worst fanon characterization” argument can be made convincingly for many Batman characters, I think it deserves to be said that Barbara Gordon does not fit neatly into the “batfamily” phenomenon, having never lived at Wayne Manor and nor considered Bruce to be a father figure, and, as such is frequently relegated to the outskirts of batfamily fanworks and most often reduced to a one-off “mentor” figure or a plot device to the point where she essentially doesn’t have a fanon characterization.

I'd argue she should maybe be actively against it. Especially when she later ACTUALLY takes in Cass and raises the damn kid instead of... Enabling all of Cassandra's self-destructive tendancies. Helps look after Charlie, takes Steph in and their shared relationship with Cass haunts the entire Steph-Babs dynamic.
